He didn't ask if I like it rough. It wasn't up to me.
I thought I could get away with pissing off a big, tough Marine. I ended up with my face planted in the sheets, my burning bottom raised high, and my hair held tightly in his fist as he took me long and hard and taught me the kind of shameful lesson only a man like Scorpion could teach.
She was begging for a taste of my belt. She got much more than that.
Getting so tipsy she thought she could be sassy with me in my own bar earned Caroline a spanking, but it was trying to make off with my truck that sealed the deal. She'll feel my belt across her bare backside, then she'll scream my name as she takes every single inch of me.
This naughty girl needs to be put in her place, and I'm going to enjoy every moment of it.
Publisher's Note: Scorpion is a stand-alone novel which is the second entry in the Montana Bad Boys series. It includes spankings and sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.
This is an amazing book! Epic! I loved this story. Scorpion is a former marine, one of 6 friends who this series is based on. The first book in the series is Hawk. I loved that one and I know Piper Stone will have another amazing story here and wow was this so good!
In this one, the second installment, we follow Scorpion on his journey back home to Montana. He meets Caroline and sparks fly. I cannot even explain in words how deep, loving, heartfelt, profound, real their love story is. You can see yourself in these characters and their life struggles. Granted, not the spanking lol but the feelings are so there in this story wow just wow
There’s literally a scene with both of them where I could have cried that’s how beautiful it was.
I felt this on such a deep level. Also, the sex scenes are amazing. Piper Stone has ruined all other author’s sex scenes for me.
There are so many contemporary books out there that are nothing compared to stories that Piper Stone writes. I read everything she puts out automatically. I feel like the blurbs which are marked more as spanking books have nothing on how deep the emotional connection is between the characters. After reading this story you are rooting for this couple so hard. We ship them and they just met but it’s not istalove at all. Not even close. Sometimes when you know you know.
I love Scorpion. He’s an amazing man. I love Caroline, she’s strong and smart as hell. I definitely recommend this for anyone who loves romance, romantic suspense, sex scenes, deep love.
I loved the story and Scorpion and Caroline’s characters as they are both strong and yet at the same time vulnerable. There is never a dull moment as it is full of danger, suspense and hot encounters between Scorpion and Caroline. There are two storylines, one of them being the growing relationship between Scorpion and Caroline and the second one involves the inheritance that Scorpion received from his Uncle Jasper and the people who seem to want to run Scorpion out of town to get the property. Unsure of what he is going to do, the first night at the bar is a fiasco and here is his first encounter with Caroline who is drunk. After saving her from some rowdy cowboys, she starts acting like a brat and ends up being spanked in front of everyone at the bar. There is a HEA but there is so much more going on in this story that it makes for an excellent read. This is a great story that I would highly recommend. I didn’t like Scorpion/Cooper when I started this book but I soon changed my mind and when I got into the story I couldn’t put the book down. It is intense and full of twists and turns and hot sex and keeps you reading wanting to find out what is really going on and just when you think you know there is a twist and you have to re-think. Hawk is involved and so is Mustang so perhaps his is the next book. Forgiveness is a sub theme in this book and thanks to Caroline Scorpion starts to forgive himself. This is a great series and I look. Forward to the next one.
Cooper "Scorpion" McKenzie has just come home from Afghanistan, and has inherited a ranch and seedy bar in Missoula, Montana from an estranged uncle. He meets Caroline Walker, a country music promoter, the first night he goes to his bar. She's drunk, and the bar is even worse inside than it looked from the outside. He takes her home since she is too drunk to drive, and they embark on a wild love affair. Meantime, Scorpion decides to clean up the bar and try to make something of it. The powers that be in Missoula are not happy about his choice to stay, as there was more to his uncle than it looked like. He is threatened more than once, and he is determined to make Caroline his, and equally determined to keep her safe from the people who want to hurt him as well as from himself. He pushes her away and she in her feisty way keeps coming back.. When she is almost killed, Scorpion along with his friend Hawk put two and two together and solve the mystery of who is responsible for all the violence against him. This book is a stand alone, and the second book in the Montana Bad Boys series. The hero is rough around the edges, and the heroine is strong enough to break through his crusty exterior and love the real man within. It is a must read, and I cannot wait for the next one!

This talented author has written an outstanding, disciplinarian romance that has a fascinating “bad-boy” undertone & I really enjoyed reading it. The plot is interesting with good world building & is filled with well-described, action-packed situations & events that keeps the reader’s attention quite firmly. The characters are strong-willed individuals & have good chemistry between them although they do have some personal issues to deal with. In particular I found the female character (Caroline) to be quite bratty at times but she is actually quite insightful with a certain amount of empathy towards the male character (Scorpion). There is: an ex-marine (Scorpion aka Cooper McKenzie) physically teaches a troublesome young woman (Caroline Walker) some painfully lessons & after some contemplation promptly decides to claim her for his very own naturally Caroline has no knowledge of this, intrigue, suspense, drama, action, twists & turns, friendship, comradery, villainous villains, family issues, secrets, memories, threats, danger, conflict, violence, arson, deceit, defiance, discipline, spankings, punishments, surprises, contemplation, steamy scenes, love, contentment & a very satisfying conclusion. I really would recommend this rough romance & look forward to future books in this series.
A wonderful addition to this series Once again, this wonderful author has written another wonderful addition to this series bad boy and I must say that from start to finish this wonderful book held my attention and there was possibility of putting the book down until I came to the very last page. The chemistry between the characters was simply “smoking-hot” and Caroline who at times could be a real brat and a pain in the butt however, her feelings for Scorpion were genuine and she loved him in her own way. Scorpion is an ex-marine as he decides that he wants Caroline as his one and only he is determined to make her his however he is not a soft touch and he will not stand for deceit, defiance or cheek of any sort he would punish her. Without wanting to give away any of the plot I can highly recommend this simply captivating read, once you start reading you won’t be able to put it down I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
Scorpion comes from one horrible situation right into another not so good one. After his uncle passes away leaving him a disaster of a bar, he comes back to town to get rid of it. While he's checking out the bar, he comes across a bratty, beautiful Caroline. Caroline has troubles of her own and between the two of them the fun is just beginning. There's a connection between the two of them and boy do they ever give each other a run for their money. You're in for quite a ride with Scorpion.
I loved this book. He was haunted by his name and past and she has a job to do. Together they were going to war for what was his. She tries to help, but only pushes his buttons. She knew there would consequences and Scorpion will dish them out. This book has it all love, hate, action, sex and secrets. I would not recommend this book for those that have triggers.
While I love the angst and steam, the dash of mystery really added to the story. I recommend this to anyone who appreciates an alpha hero and his strong mate
This book is such a rush, could not put it down! it has everything for a captivating read, suspense, action, mysteries to uncover, heartache, laugh out loud moments, humour and great banter, romance and lots of steam fogging up my Kindle screen. Caroline and Scorpion are loveable, full-bodied and interesting characters, and I loved the personal journey's they made, actually had a tear in my eye at the end of this book.... if was that invested. Can't recommend reading this book, or this series so far, enough and am looking forward to the next one in this series..... will it be Mustang's turn next?

Scorpion does not know what to expect when coming back to his hometown, but coming to the roughneck brawler bar his uncle left him and finding a feisty spitfire is not what he expects. Caroline can’t resist taunting Scorpion as he takes on the grouchy bouncers and the last thing she expects when she pushes Scorpion too far is to get a spanking in the middle of the bar. Caroline came here for his uncle and she is determined to show Scorpion there is more to the bar than the rough crowd that was there. Scorpion never planned on sticking around, but the more secrets come out regarding his uncle and the bar, the more he realizes how much he needs Caroline’s & his Marine buddies help as the information they find just leads to more questions. Scorpion has a way of getting under people’s skin and the list of enemies keeps mounting the more he keeps digging into his uncle’s past. Caroline refuses to let Scorpion push her away to protect her as she keeps searching to help him find the answers he needs to solve the puzzle around who is so determined to force him out of town and get him to sell. With his ranch burned to the ground and Caroline in the hospital, pieces start to come together as Scorpion races to confront the culprits of this deadly scheme. But as the violence escalates, Scorpion and his friends will have to act fast to save Caroline as his enemy has gotten Caroline right where they want her and this time intend to finish the job.

Donna L 5.0 out of 5 stars Raw and Powerful Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2020 Expect to to taken on a wild journey with this book. Bad boy does not do justice when describing Scorpion. Everything about him screamed danger.A man full of guilt and darkness. He exudes raw masculinity and power.A complex man that was plagued with demons. Meeting Caroline in a bar was not on his agenda, but she was one bad little girl just asking for trouble. She was beautiful, but oh so infuriating. One look in her eyes and Scorpion was hooked. He was the beast and she was his prey. Now that she had awakened the beast, there was no way of putting him back in his cage.
Caroline managed to shatter the wall around his heart. “ One thing I’ve learned is that you can’t run from tragedy, heartache,or mistakes ,not until you’re truly ready to move on”
Scorpion was sinful, powerful, but guilt and anger stopped him from having a future. I did not connect with Caroline initially, but she certainly had good reasons for her rebellious behavior. She soon found out not to tangle with Scorpion. He penchant for rough sex and hard spankings left her reeling.
This story was so exciting. Its filled with danger ,drama, angst, mystery ,hot sweaty sex and plenty of spankings. There was never a dull moment, and i am in awe of the author’s skills. This has turned out to be one exhilarating new series, and i eagerly await the next book.
Piper Stone is fast becoming a must read author for me and this book only adds to that distinction. Ms. Stone is able to grab onto her readers from her 1st page to the last with her fantastic storytelling and world building. Her characters are so delightfully flawed that you can't help cheer for their happily ever after. He books are full of dominate over-the-top alpha males and their feisty soul mates, if you don't enjoy that type of story (even if in your fantasies) you won't like her stories. But if you do hold on to your hats (and have a tall glass of ice tea on hand) because you are in for a wild roller coaster ride that you will thoroughly enjoy. Scorpion and Caroline's story is one of deciding what direction you life will take and if you are willing to bend to add your soul mate to the picture. This book has everything (and more) that you could want in a story; comedy, action, drama, conflict, danger and of course hot, hot romance (it is a Piper Stone book after all). This is the 2nd book in the Montana Bad Boys series and an absolutely fantastic book. You will be sorry if you miss it or the series!

Oh dam! these two left me hot hot hot Scorpion had just returned to Montana he had been in the marines but he just got news that his uncle had left him his bar and range in his will. The only problem with this was he had no intention of running a bar, it was very alien to him he had no experience at all. One evening he goes just to check it out and see what the bar is like and he is not impressed with what he sees. Then a woman, a sassy, sexy woman grabs his attention. Caroline is out for fun tonight and she really doesn’t mind being centre to attention. There’s a lot going on with her family so just at for tonight she was going let her hair down and it felt very good. That was until she was being told that she was a brat who needed to be taught a lesson. Caroline and scorpion are so hot they are off the charts the chemistry their passion is just amazing but can these to be what each other need. This book was just fantastic I couldn’t put it down I didn’t want to put it down I wanted to keep reading. It’s addictive it’s electric there is passion there is danger it’s just fantastic

Scorpion/Cooper is the next book in the Montana Bad Bits series.
Let me start off saying the team of author Piper Stone and narrator Thomas Locklear is unbelievable. They are definitely a dream team for all of her books.
I fell in love with Scorpion just as I did with his fellow ex-marine bad boy Hawk. These boys are alpha, fiercely protective of what they believe in and who they love.
Scorpion has come back home to Montana with thoughts of getting his inheritance left him by his uncle and selling it off to seek a life away from his hometown but best laid plans have a tendency to change especially when there’s a woman involved.
Scorpion meets the sassy, outspoken Caroline and meets his match. I love how Piper writes a story that shows us layers with strong characters and ties characters from a special ops team of brothers to strong woman who steal their hearts. This book has tons of action, sexiness and also humour. And it’s all brought brilliantly to life by an exceptional narrator who sounds like so many people who does it all.
Really all I can say is Thomas is amazing especially when narrating Piper’s books.
I wasn't surprised to find out that Scorpion was an angry ex-Marine. I wasn't surprised to find out that Caroline was a brat, and completely unwilling to do as Scorpion asked her. Their chemistry, the spanking, Scorpion's guilt; none of that surprised me.
What did surprise me was the somewhat convoluted mystery that both Caroline and Scorpion unwittingly became involved in when they each landed in Montana. Scorpion's former teammates, Hawk and Maverick also made an appearance in this book.
I thought the mystery was more than a little confusing. I had to reread a few parts to keep the participants and facts of the corruption straight in my mind. There were still a couple of items I was slightly unsure about regarding who had done what and why, but maybe it was my misunderstanding.
All in all, it was an interesting read, and resulted in an HEA for Scorpion and Caroline. I would rate this at 3.5 stars.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book received via Booksprout.
When Scorpion pulled into the parking lot of the bar, it appeared to be littered with broken glass, rundown, a hole-in-the-wall dump with twangy country music coming from inside. A long line of people waiting to get in, two bouncers at the door, the sound of glass breaking inside, and loud voices that appeared to be in some kind of fight. Scorpion had no intention of telling anyone who he was or that his Uncle had died and left him the proud owner. In his mind, he intended to just observe and would eventually sell the place, if he could that is. Unfortunately, the two bouncers didn't want to let him. Not home twelve hours. AH SNAP!! Here we go!! Piper Stone gives us the second man of the six that were a team in Afghanistan. She also gave us Caroline. A woman has her own trouble with family and career. Is she really trying to seduce Scorpion or just trying to break up the fight between him and the bouncers? There is a chemistry between these two that literally jumps off the screen. With the intensity of this hero and heroine, I can't wait to see which one comes next.
I only took a chance on this book because it was free with KU. There is so much more going on with it than what is in the blurb. I don't think the author is author is doing herself any favors without writing a more accurate blurb. There was a thriller/mystery element was the basis of what could have been really good.
In order to be better, the parts of the story needed to mesh and flow better. More of the mystery could have been started earlier in the book. It also could have been expanded.
I mostly liked the characters. I liked the deep connection between Scorpion and the rest of his "posse" but cringed everything that word appeared.
The steamy scenes were hot in one way but just ok in another.
I would have liked an extended dialogue and if the author ever publishes a newer draft of this book, I would like to read it. I'm probably going to give one more book in this series a chance. I skipped the first one because of some of the reviews.
Loved this book and I don’t give 5 stars very often. This book is a sexy smokin’ little read. The main characters are Caroline, a very independent , sassy, strong willed ball of trouble. She’s a country singer who has been dumped from a band and her former love. Then there’s, Scorpion, a hot alpha Marine/ cowboy with his own issues. Now who wouldn’t love that combination. The author does a great job here with character development. You want to keep reading this book as there is quite a bit of plot packed in. You find it all - hot sexy descriptive scenes, love, family secrets, a plot twist, hidden agendas, fires and danger. Remember that this is an adult book so when it comes to this strong willed female trouble maker you can expect punishment, spankings and total dominance. Sweet little HEA too! Recommend

From the very first page to the last, I was riveted and wanted more. This has a very well written storyline and wonderful, complex characters. Scorpion is back home from Afghanistan where he was an independent contractor. After a bad mission and the loss of Snake, one of the other members of the “posse ” as they were known during their teenage years, he was back in Montana because his estranged uncle had dies and left him a bar and his ranch. Not only was the bar a dive and total disaster, he couldn’t imagine ever staying in his hometown. Then his path crosses with the feisty, mouthy, bratty and beautiful Caroline. The attraction was instant but he was a dangerous man and had demons. Lots of emotions in this read from anger, guilt, danger, suspense, Corruption, deceit, twists and turns, sizzling chemistry, healing and our H and h finding peace, happiness and love. Great read!

Scorpion's uncle's death left more questions than answers! by sewsummore
Scorpian never expected that his Uncle would die and make him his heir. His first thought was to sell everything and leave Missoula for good, but a bratty young woman named Caroline made him change his mind. After rescuing the brat from the middle of a bar fight, too drunk to drive, he took her back to his uncle's place to sleep it off, but not before administering a spanking she would never forget. I found this book an entertaining read with lots of steam between Scorpion and Caroline. His uncle's death left more questions than answers, and when Scorpion decides to keep and renovate the bar, the trouble becomes dangerous for all concerned. This book had a happy ending, but not before Caroline almost loses her life not once but twice.

Our hero gets and unexpected inheritance and rolls into town to clear it before moving on. But then he gets an second unexpected event when he encounters our heroine. To say that sparks fly would be an understatement.
This is book two of the series but it works fine as a standalone.
This is an romantic suspense story with elements of D/S (primarily spanking). There is a lot going on in the town and as our hero sets out to untangle it, we get a story with a lot of action and some very intriguing characters. Our couple has excellent chemistry right from the start, but it is going to take a little work for them to realize it. I really enjoyed this story and found it to be very engaging, keeping me flipping pages. We also get a nice bit of steam along the way, which certainly didn't hurt. Overall, a very enjoyable read.
Highly recommended.

Overall it’s what I expect from a Piper Stone book. I love that this book had a different feel. Being set in Montana with x military instead of a bad boy with mafia ties. I would love to see more of a variety in her descriptions and alpha males personalities and actions though. It’s generally the same. A girl getting spanked with out permission but pretty much falling in line with a few defiant acts along the way. I do like that this one has a different plot line with both the posse and the inheritance. I love the narrator and the fact he does both male and female voices so well always amazes me but I will say Caroline’s souther drawl would come and go. For me it’s not a huge deal because I am from the south and my drawl does in fact come and go depending on my moods and sometimes my alcohol level but as a voice for a I would have loved for it to be more consistent. Overall a good “rough” romance
Piper Stone has written a book that I just fell in love with. Scorpion goes back home when his uncle dies and leaves him a bar. You know instantly that he's going to encounter trouble but he can handle it, right? Caroline is drunk and finds herself fighting off some bad guys when Scorpion saves her. She needs some discipline and he is just the man to give it to her. I can't express how much I loved this story. I laughed, got ticked off, cried........just basically ran through all the emotions. The bad guys succeed in causing some problems but you know that Scorpion will take care of them in the end. Have I mentioned how much I loved this book? LOL I can't wait for the next book in this series!!
When Scorpion leaves the service, he feels like he failed his friend. His guilt is overwhelming. He heads home to the legacy his uncle left him. He doesn't think he wants the bar or the ranch until he meets Caroline. She's trying to make a life on her father's terms after a betrayal that cut deep. When she meets Scorpion, she learns that tangling with a damaged vet turned rancher and bar owner will always leaver her sore and aching for more. The legacy he is left leaves him with more questions than he expected and danger around every corner. Now he has Caroline to protect too. A good read. Steamy.

This book 2 in the Montana Bad Boys Series is a very well-written dark romance with well-developed strong characters that depth, personalities, and evolve throughout the story. This book is fast paced, action packed and has twists/turns, danger, chemistry, intrigue, betrayal, BDSM, steam and love. This is a must story that is stand alone in the series. There is a story here. A potentially good story. But instead of having the kinky sex as part of the story and romance, it was the main focus. That could be okay if we stayed with that. But the occasional action sequence and hint of mystery caused some whiplash. The transitions were not smooth. At least this book appeared better researched than Hawk's book, I am not an attorney so I can't be sure. There were some points . . . But I am also not an editor, only an avid reader. The potential was here, but in my humble opinion, the book fell short of that potential.
