Although this book and the first one are tied to the author's online "school", Claritas U, the reader gets plenty of information just by reading the book. The accompanying Claritas U videos, especially the interviews with other experts in these areas, are helpful, but don't avoid the book just because you don't wish to sign up for the online services.

This volume covers 7 topics, only 1 1/2 of which are distinctly Catholic. Any Christian would benefit from reading Brandon Vogt's tips on how to discuss difficult and controversial topics. He presents not only "his side" but what are known as the "best objections" so that the reader learns what the main objections are and how to calmly and clearly discuss both points of view.

Brandon has done it again. He has brought a book that covers current topics that people either avoid discussing or discuss without the facts. In this next volume he addresses topics such as Islam, heaven, hell & purgatory, faith and science.

He follows the same format as his first volume. Explains the topic, what the Catholic Church doctrine is on the subject, presents most common arguments and how to respond. There are questions at the end as well as other sources on the topic. A plus is, you can jump around in the book, you don't have to read cover to cover.

Brandon presents the material in an easy to understand manner. It isn't in simplistic; but doesn't go into an overly academic mode where it could alienate readers. As always, Vogt is compassionate, intelligent and reasonable. Another winner!

Great second part of Vogt's helpful tips on discussing sometimes contested aspects of our faith. If you feel hesitant in having conversations about our faith, I highly recommend these two books!
