Only read "An unwanted guest". Did not really engage with the way the story is told. It really took me a while to finish it as I woild loose interest and when I finally did... the murderer was a desapointment... was expecting much more persecution and despair parts with a terrible predator chasing up his victims one by one. Did not meet my expectations at all
this rating is for the couple next door and a stranger in the house these books were just so good, so thrilling, lots of twists I remember reading them both in one sitting, if you love mystery books these are the ones for you.
I have read other books by Shari Lapena and found An Unwanted Guest on the library bookshelf. I did like the way her characters spanned a large part of the human life cycle. I also liked the way she created and labelled timelines throughout the book. However, I was disappointed in the plot in that I did not feel that there was any way the reader could have predicted the outcome. The reader could not reasonably have suspected the ultimate murderer from information earlier in the book. I would still read other of her work and would hope that there will be a chance for the reader to participate in identifying the murderer. (I wouldn't think this is a spoiiler. After all, no one ever really suspects the prime candidate put forward early in a story. This book is no different.)
Once again I had an enjoyable read by this author. This takes place in a lovely lodge that is very secluded. Snowy conditions have these folks trapped without power and unexplained deaths around them. You meet several characters and find yourself trying to figure out who possibly could be the culprit behind everything.
I have only read The Couple Next Door. I was hooked from the start and finished it in one day. Lots of twists and turns and I didn't figure it out till I was almost at the end. A quick, thrilling read.
Couple Next Door, was a page-turner. I found main character, Marco to be a little unrealistic. 3 stars.
An Uwanted Guest was more a page-turner. Characters were fine but both endings, Shari seems to throw together too quickly. 4 stars. I really like her writing.
The Couple Next Door was quite a thrilling book. While the plot twists were exciting and kept me on my toes, the final “villain” of the book was a little underwhelming. Overall it was an easy read and the plot was engaging.
What a thrilling read! It kept me guessing with its surprises and twists at every turn. The sheer number of unexpected twists and terms kept me glued to the pages. A definite page-turner that had me captivated from start to finish!
THE COUPLE NEXT DOOR: Ich fand dieses Buch ziemlich gut. Die Spannung war spürbar und man wurde immer auf falsche fährten gelockt. Das Ende kam total überraschend!
I picked the couple next door up at Walmart one bored night. As I started the book, I couldn’t stop reading! I fell in love with the author, and have continued to purchase every book!
I read An Unwanted Guest… really good book, each guest was their own secrets and mystery to them. There’s lots of twists and turns in this book. Then when you think it’s over, wrong.. last 2 pages…
