I have been really fond of Binibining Mia’s books because it holds so much details about the history of the Philippines, and me who was born an English-speaker, I have been really “conyo” myself. After reading some of her books, It made me feel so inspired of studying the Tagalog language and started learning more about our history despite when I used to fall asleep in history class.
About the book, I really hate how Celestina gets to be physically abused all the time, and I hate reading how she gets hurt by the maestra because of how hot headed she is. It triggered me, because I’ve been in a position where I would get somewhat physically and mentally abused by some adults. This is also so similar to ILYS1892, mostly when it comes to the love part. Like Carmela, Juanito, and Helena, the three were formed in a love triangle. Like Celestina, Martin, and Loisa. Though the difference between Helena and Loisa, was that Helena actually let her love go and went far away instead of actually doing the harshest things to the people she cares/d. Loisa on the other hand, was just like her father, BUT she was even worse. She tried to commit murder many times on the hands of someone else, and it scared me how violent she is. How Loisa’s actions are, it’s crazy.
For Celestina’s step-mom, Adelia; I couldn’t believe how evil she is to take someone’s life just for a man who can’t stay with her if she won’t carry a child. But I guess, without Adelia’s reason, there wouldn’t be a whatsoever, nice plot(?)
I also hate the grammatical errors, mostly on the book where it feels like the editors don’t proofread it before publishing.
Overall, I still think Binibining Mia will be improving in the near or far future.
Full of twists and turns! Like the characters frustrated me so much! So many unexpected events! This book made me feel like really watching a movie! How the author wrote this book was really really good! This is tagalog and was set in the last spanish colonial years. You will never know how this book will end! Super awesomeeeee!

Thy Love is one of those books that just sink into you. All of Binibining Mia's stories have held a special place in my heart ever since I started reading them. Her stories raised my interest in history to a height that has never been reached before and I really hope to read more of her books in physical copy.

no'ng binabasa ko pa 'to, kating-kati akong i-drop 'to, but i persisted since a friend said that it had an interesting ending.
upon finishing it, parang hindi naman nabago 'yong first impression ko about it — that it's a Philippine version of Cinderella na may glorified cheating. it didn't really challenge my outlook on love and overcoming boundaries for it. parang gusto ko lang kaltukin si martin every chapter.
a silver lining though is that it didn't downplay disabilities, specifically, muteness. the ending twist was unexpected, but i personally liked it.

i really like this book kasi the setting was during 1890 and it helps me recall history class in school💀 it has a lot of facts about the spanish colonization in the philippines. also, the book is not only about history and love but also awareness for ppl w/ disability
so, yung female lead na si celestina cervantes ay may kapansanan sa pagsasalita. she’s an only child and her mother died giving birth to her so her father, don mateo cervantes, was her only family, but unfortunately, he died bc of an incurable disease
they were rich, their family name was known to a lot of people and a lot looked up to them. pero his father was fond of gambling kaya he had a lot of debt and bc of his illness(which cost a lot of money especially sa treatment which is sayang since he died din naman), he passed his debts to his only daughter, celestina
celestina became a servant in a dormitory/school for rich girls as her father owes the owner, maestra villareal, more than years worth of being a servant.
a girl who studies there, loisa espinoza(kalaban ng dad niya yung dad ni celestina pero she doesn’t hate celestina), has a boyfriend who often visits her sa dorm. her boyfriend, martin buenavista, was supposedly married to celestina if he didn’t reject her years ago to pursue his dream in spain plus wala pang nakakakita kay celestina that time kasi her dad doesn’t want her to get bullied by ppl
so ayun, martin didn’t notice her at first pero he thinks na celestina is pretty🥰 they had few encounters w/ each other, usually sa store where celestina buys pandesal every morning. martin wanted to befriend her so he learned sign language to be able to talk and understand her better
they often bump into each other whenever celestina has errands outside the dormitory and habang tumatagal, they became close w/ each other until loisa saw them together
loisa was shocked syempre and it became awkward for her and martin. celestina also felt awkward and decided to stay away from martin muna (also because maestra villareal warned her)
after that, they went to laguna for a fiesta. when they arrived, nakita ni maestra villareal yung katapat niya, younger sister ni loisa na maldita but has goodness in her.
loisa and her friends/classmates were to perform sa church but loisa wasn’t feeling well, so one of her classmates took over. celestina on the other hand went outside the church to get fresh air until she was accused of stealing by martin’s older brother that he hates
hanggang chapter 10 lang kasi yung nasa book so hanggang diyan lang munaaa (i’ve read the book na sa wattpad pero that was a long time ago kaya i decided to reread)
overall, i like this book, especially the free signed bookmark that came w/ it, kaso it has some grammatical and spelling errors despite having a proofreader😔 pero it’s okay lang kasi there’s always room for improvement namann
