If your world’s falling apart, what would you do to survive?
September 1988
Life is moving on for Martin and Freddy, though not for Chloe. She finds herself wondering how she can possibly fit into their worlds when so much has changed. Then a face from the past appears in an unexpected way.... After already taking the first steps along a dark path, Chloe’s abilities continue to grow. But not unnoticed. The people around her start to see her strange behaviour and absence. Chloe embraces Alice, but who is really in control? With shadowy figures plotting against them, the three friends are tested like never before. Will they survive what is to come, or will fate come full circle to tear them apart? And could a new friend change Chloe’s past, or will she repeat the future once again?
Currently living in Leeds. Work full time in transport industry. I write in my spare time. I like a variety of genres and try to bring them all to my own work. I class the Echo series as a paranormal thriller with a sci-fi twist. I live with my family and have no pets.
Author Richard Glenn proposed a breakthrough theory to help support the unknown mystery of ghosts. This revelation was a first step into the paranormal world that I'd never before encountered, figuratively speaking. To date, I have yet come upon a suitable explanation that would go on to reveal their role in society, until now. Fascinating.
Fairy Tale run-of-the-mill, haunted house specters were not found inside these pages; those are best saved for children's bedtime horror stories. Instead, a premise was presented for understanding the way of life of phantoms, at least for one in particular.
Next in line, this amazing tale brought me face to face with the controversial topic of the afterlife. In other words, what are They doing here? Withstanding evidence from any source to the contrary, Glenn's interpretation made bold, convincing steps throughout the storyline. In the end, it left me with a reasonable explanation of Their existence. And I'm still thinking about it.
Resident spirit and main protagonist, Chloe Winchell, continued to find herself confined within the city limits of Leeds, England. An invisible barrier encompassing the city prevented her escape. With the ever so slow passage of time, she had begun to accept her cruel, unusual fate. Trapped for eternity. Prisoner. Unable to take my eyes away, the chapters cascaded by.
A sudden turn of events was destined to change all that. Just when it was thought that her miserable existence could not get any worse, life as she had come to accept took a mysterious turn for the worse. Disaster waited in the shadows. My sympathies. Wasn't it already bad enough just being a ghost?
I'd always prized myself at being clever enough to anticipate a potential set of twists that would usher along the climax of an outstanding novel. In actuality, many of us do that. But not this time. From out of nowhere, I was rocked to the core. Never in all my reading of horrific narratives had I experienced such an electrifying ending.
I'd been eagerly looking forward to the release of this third installment, and I'm happy to say, it was worth the wait. For an engrossing paranormal read guaranteed to keep you perched at the edge of your seat, begin with book 1: Echo, proceed to book 2: Code, and wrap it up with book 3: Glitch. You have my full endorsement, you won't be disappointed.
My advice is to keep a watch out for anything this author writes in the near future. His talent will elevate him far into the world of literature. Between you and me, I don't think we've heard the last of these characters. Time will tell.
The third book in this series tells us of Chloe's descent into disaster. Chloe has managed to cope with her new avatar as a powerful phantasm. So far. Will her friends Freddy and Martin stand by her since she is now caught up in murder? A well put together science fiction by Richard Glenn. I enjoy reading this author's books.
Fantastic continuation to the series. Character development is great and there is a believable hero to villain arc as well as the introduction of a new character to bring a new dynamic to the story. Recommended if you like a unique story idea. Cannot wait for the next book in the series
