Runaway is the story of Sophie, a young woman who has spent her life studying and mastering the arcane practice of magic, forced to flee her home and a promising future in Zo’rahn—a land that esteems mages above all others—in order to escape the clutches of those who would use her talents for their own designs.

With the aid of a mysterious order from a faraway country, Sophie will have to make her way across arid plains, through primeval forests, and over treacherous mountain passes if she is to have even a chance at freedom. Dogging her footsteps are the agents of her mentor, one of the most influential mages in all of Zo’rahn.

Just Ok

There are basically four primary characters in this book. There is the typical damsel, who is powerful, but believes she is the blame for all things bad and can easily forgive betrayal. The female sidekick who is loud, abrasive and got on my ever lasting nerves. Then there is the friendly guy who everyone likes. Finally, the mystery guy who people distrust. The storyline was ok, but nothing special. I would have wanted to here more about what happened with the main character and her mom.

I personally wanted the sidekick to be taken out. She was that annoying. In addition, the main character needed a pair of balls, even if it was small ones. It was just ok.
