Elizabeth 'Elle' Blackman never expected the balance of her carefree life to be disrupted. Discovering that someone has been in her apartment just days before she is set to go on tour, Elle makes the only sensible choice there is.

Run...

As Levi and his team work to solve Elle's case, the relationship between them quickly goes from strictly business to deeply personal. A.K. Evans is a contemporary romance author of over twenty published novels. While she enjoys writing a good romantic suspense novel, Andrea’s favorite books to write have been her extreme sports romances. That might have something to do with the fact that she, along with her husband and two sons, can’t get enough of extreme sports.

Before becoming a writer, Andrea did a brief stint in the insurance and financial services industry and managed her husband’s performance automotive business. That love of extreme sports? She used to drive race cars!

When Andrea isn’t writing, she can be found homeschooling her two sons, doing yoga, snowboarding, reading, or traveling with her family. She and her husband are currently taking road trips throughout the country to visit all 50 states with their boys.

1.0 | I freaking LOATHED this main character. She was SO FUCKING ANNOYING and her stupidity and ignorance brought not only danger to herself but also others. If she’d just stopped crying for onceeee she might have seen who the stalker was, WHICH I LITERALLY GUESSED FROM THE START. I started the book a year ago, did not finish it because of, well, the reasons above. Decided it was time to get this thing on my Goodreads hoping there was at least going to be a plottwist at the end, but no, it was the freaking most obvious person. Also I don’t get how he kept describing her as a selfless and a ray sunshine; wish I could be as delusional as him. Would’ve made this book a lot more enjoyable to read. Now I’m going to read all the 1 star reviews and like every single one of them.

Ugh I thought I was done with my rant and then thought about this character again and I am still not over how fucking ignorant she was.

This was a very sweet story if you want a knight in shining armor who will sweep you off your feet Levi is it!
The storyline was very captivating, and the chemistry was off the charts between these two. I loved the suspense in this one and had to keep reading until the very end.
I would have loved a little epilogue to this, I always love the hereafter part of this kind of story.

Don't understand the reviews- read on KU

This book was pretty lacking. The writing is very dry and written in a matter of a fact tone. The story doesn't flow well and the writing isn't smooth.

The bad guy was beyond extremely obviously u less it was someone who hadn't been introduced in the book. The plot was hardly original. The author states it has happened to her in some similar but different way in the afterward but the way she described her real life situation seemed significantly different and the way she worded the afterward made the author seem not quite authentic. That's not the word to use but I can't think of the right one but the afterward just seemed off.

The sex scenes are dull. The book in general is boring. At the beginning, when she was with a group of friends, it gave off the vibe of a group of middle school girls circling around the girl who had been the first to kiss a boy. A lot of Elle's pov seamed juvenile.

The author appears to have put very little thought into the security agency. Not much research seems to have been done. You have the MC, who is being stalked, and you leave her in your home, alone, day after day, without making it clear she should not go anywhere. The security expert, our other MC, thinks she'll be safe there because the house has a top notch security system? In reality, all the security system would do is let them know something bad happened, not stop it. He also doesn't think it is a problem for her to drive herself places? Never is she guarded unless the male MC is home.

Elle is a part time singer. She writes her own music and presumably has to practice. I don't believe she had another job. She mostly does gigs at bars big enough to have changing rooms for the talent. But, they can't be that big because of the size of the towns she mostly sings in. She doesn't have a record deal, or anything like that. Yet she makes enough to keep her own apartment, own a car, etc. In addition, her best friend, who is a veterinarian, and does work full time, I believe, does all of her promoting, managing, and social media. What kind of sense does that make. She's a 20 something that doesn't want to learn how to use social media. The world is going to leave her behind. Of course, if she expects to work part time, push off other parts of her business to others who already work full time, and can't be bothered to post to Instagram to promote herself - or have any smarts to keeping herself safe - perhaps she should be left behind.

The male MC was fine but nothing about him stands out. It's been about a week since I read this and I can't remember really anything about him. I made motes in the book about the things that made no sense and that's the only reason anything stands out about this book at all. It is highly forgettable.

With the small amount of effort that went into making this book make any kind of sense, I have no interest in reading anything else by this author. I wished I had believed the reviewer that stated this book was a waste of time and warned others not to read it.

Cliché.
Damsel in distress.
Multiple sex scenes
Little bit of stalking
and very predictable stalker. Read the first 70 pages or so and u will know who is the stalker. I guess this is the curse of reading too many suspense books.

I approached reading this the totally wrong way: I read the second book in the series first, and hadn't read the series that this had spun out of! However, that didn't diminish my enjoyment of the book overall!

I really enjoyed seeing how Levi and Elle got together in the first place, as I could then more fully enjoy the second book of the series! I loved how easy it was to connect with each of them, and they felt very realistic to me. I was able to even forge a connection with some of the supporting characters, though I would have loved more detail as to the motives of the stalker! The biggest complaint I have with the book, though, revolves around that stalker situation, as it feels very drawn out. That being said, I definitely will continue reading the series, and when I finally can get the Everything series, will do a proper read of the whole thing!

This one was really good! I knew I would like it from the first chapter and I absolutely loved the MCs.

When Elle finds a picture with a threatening message in her apartment, she goes to the first person that comes to mind, Levi.

They met a few months ago and sparks started flying instantly. Elle’s brother had warned Levi to stay away from Elle and Levi being the gentleman he is, had respected that and hadn’t pursued anything with her.

Now, when Elle shows up terrified and with a stalker, he does everything to protect her and show her she’s safe with him.

I loved Elle’s obsession with lip balm and Levi’s need to taste every flavour off her lips🫠🥵

This is a suspense-romance but the suspense doesn’t overtake the romance which I liked.

The "Everything" series by A.K. Evans was...well...everything! It hooked me and made me a huge fan of Ms. Evans' work, and I was thrilled to learn that characters from the world of the Blackman Boards crew are spinning off into the new "Cunningham Security" series. The focus of the series is the group of private investigators headed by Levi Cunningham (brother of professional snowboarder Zane from "Everything"), and "Obsessed" is all about Levi's mutual attraction with beautiful musician Elle (who also happens to be the sister of Zane's best friend, Wes). However, as is the norm for Ms. Evans' work, the road to their HEA is loaded with twists and turns, and their newfound happiness is dimmed somewhat by the presence of a dangerous stalker. If this story is any indication, the Cunningham Security series will have avid fans and new readers begging for more.

Update:
I read A.K. Evans’s “Obsessed,” Book 1 of the Cunningham Security series of romantic suspense back when it released in 2020. The love story between Levi and Elle was amazing, and I devoured every book in the series as soon each new title dropped. I just had the opportunity to experience the story in a brand new way when I downloaded the audiobook, and let me tell you that I was enthralled! While I remember the story well, the audio version brought more steam to the steamy bits and more emotion and danger to this suspenseful story. The fact that I already knew “whodunit” had no bearing on how much I enjoyed the performance. Aaron Shedlock is one of my favorite male narrators out there, so I seemed to find myself hanging on every word that flowed through my speakers. For the most part, Kit Swann did a great job conveying the emotion that Elle was dealing with throughout the story; however, I was honestly not a fan of her alternate voices which sounded strange to me (hence the 4- instead of 5-star rating). Still, this was a fantastic way to experience a love story that I adore with my whole heart!

Well, this book was interesting. Maybe I did read this in the wrong way like another review mentioned that there are other books that should be read prior to this one.

I am not a big fan of the book so far. The biggest issue is the reality behind the plot. Maybe I missed where it was explained (which was very hard since the book is overly descriptive) how Elle had so many followers and fans (enough to go on a mini-tour) when she never put any effort into her career. In fact, she seems to be highly sheltered and coddled. Also the whole my brother forbids our relationship and then to find out the reason behind it just proved how coddled Elle is by her friends and family.

The romance scenes were really weird for me. The fact that Levi demanded to was just strange. At one point it feels like the romance part was the focus and the author forgot about the stalker and therefore had to throw in tidbits here and there about the stalker. Also, the author wants to paint this as a perfectly matched couple but in reality, they aren't. When they get into a "public" fight, Ell was more upset that Honestly, this is a couple that I can live with not knowing what happens to them in the future.

Do I like the premise of the story. Yes
Am I interested in this series? Yes
Will I continue it and give it a second chance? Yes
Did I like this book in particular? No

I have to admit I struggled with this - the story was very good but the execution was not good at all. It was far too descriptive and not in a good way - I don't need to know that the elevator stopped on their floor and they walked down the corridor and put the key card in the door etc etc - these things can be assumed by saying they returned to their room. The sex scenes were the most un-erotic and unsexy I have ever read. They were like a 'how to' manual! Usually I can visualize the main characters but I couldn't tell you what either of the two main characters looked like and it wasn't until the end that I realised that the h had white blond hair. I also worked out who the stalker was from the moment the h first interacted with that person - and I wasn't wrong.
It had huge potential but the writing style was not for me.

No Surprise, Seriously

I generally enjoy security firm series. It was clear with this author, however, that she didn’t do very much research into how security works. She also has a slightly stilted way of writing that I had a hard time getting into. However, it was when the ending of the book was glaringly obvious before I reached page eighty, that I lost patience. I jumped to the end, where I confirmed my hypothesis was correct. I also discovered that the author didn’t really research how hospitals work either. If an author wants to tackle topics that require actual knowledge, they should invest time in learning some of it. Otherwise, it’s not worth it to invest my time in reading the book.

now onto the book this was a really goid book its about levi and elle, elle has a stalker levi owns a security business lots of hotness along the way and lots of alpha men i did work out who the stalker was at just over 50% its not obvious but little hints here and there !
would i recommend this book yes
would i read more from this author probably not unless epilogue are in her next books.

Elizabeth “Elle” Blackman finally felt like she was beginning to make it somewhere with her singing career when she believes that she has a stalker and is afraid. She knows her best chance to get help is from Cunningham Security. Yet she is right about to go on tour and is she willing to give up her dreams?

Levi Cunningham has been attracted to Elle for the past few months and when she ends up at his business asking for help he knows there is nothing he will stop at to make sure that Elle is safe and her stalker caught.

Yet will Levi be able to protect her all the time and will their mutual attraction be a distraction or will it push Elle to realize what she really wants out of life?

This was a good book but I found the book about 50% story and 50% sex scenes. I really would have preferred more story as I got that there was major attraction and both had been holding back until now.

I liked Elle and the fact that she was chasing her dreams but I also found her very naïve and trusting. I completely understood why she didn’t want to give up her dreams with going on tour but it felt like she was letting other people run her life a little.

Levi Cunningham knew he was going to protect Elle with everything he had and it was his company and it’s good to see how many resources he was willing to use to protect Elle. I knew he also wasn’t going to let the chance go of the two of them having an actual relationship.

The two of them had an intense chemistry as both of them had wanted the other for awhile so things progressed very quickly and as I mentioned above once they started having sex in the book they didn’t stop.

I had my guess on who the stalker was very early in the book and I was right as I just felt like the character was off.

I enjoyed the story itself and I am hoping that the series continues to be good but I am hoping the next book has a little less sex as I just really enjoy the mystery and watching the characters develop.

Great cover, creepy stalker, and an everyday hero

I actually picked up this book because I saw the third book in the series and liked the synopsis but wanted to start from the beginning. Another thing that drew me to this series is the beautiful covers, seriously I love them. That being said, I hate to admit this but I skimmed through a lot of the middle part of the book.
I’ve read books with stalkers before, and generally I do enjoy them, finding love during the suspense and fear that basically being hunted is a good reading experience for me. And the overall story in this book is good, finding out who the stalker was especially made it all the more emotional. But the writing style wasn’t really for me. I’m trying to put my finger on exactly what about the writing style didn’t work for me. I think the characters felt kind of surface level to me, I didn’t really feel like Levi and Elle had super distinct voices. I also kind of thought the pacing wasn’t all the consistent, during some points I felt the pacing was good but especially in the middle I felt like it lagged and that’s when I started more speed reading/skimming through it to get to the good parts.
Levi in a way almost felt like too perfect, he needed some flaws. Elle was sweet and caring, and I think Levi and Elle made a good couple, with good chemistry, I just didn’t get all that invested. I’m sure this book has an audience, for sure has an audience, I just don’t think that it’s necessarily for me.

the men of Cunningham Security... all hunks and friends but something seemed to be missing as to why they formed the security co.... Elle is a talented musician and all-around nice person on the rise with her career.... an unknown someone has targeted Elle and appears to be obsessed with her in an dangerous way. Elle isn’t willing to let someone else run her off from her dreams, she hires Levi's security......... for me ...the main female character, needs some backbone...and brains.
Common sense would tell anyone your staying with ...You don't walk out of their house and not even leave a note for the person protecting you when you have a stalker on your trail ....
Elle is an insecure child with the way this book is written.... not an adult... she was always whining..."I don't want to be a problem".... "are you sure?" .... "I don't want to sleep with you but I'm gonna get off sexually loud enough for you to hear?" Talk about ridiculous mixed messages! ........I got kinda aggravated with the insecurities......all main women characters don't have to be strong or unbreakable, but I do expect them to have some common sense and not be so needy......for me this book was a sad read needed some stimuli or something .... seemed to drag on and on.
OHHHH and I figured who it was from the first meeting of the girls when the roofer approached Elle and wanted to leave his number with her..... I guess since I figured it out so early on in the book, is why the rest felt like it dragged on.

This is the first book in this series. Elle and Levi meet several months ago. Despite Elle wanting to go out with him Levi made it clear that he respected that her brother didn’t want them to date. Everything changes when Elle arrives at his office distraught and frightened. Someone was in her apartment and left a note for her. She has a stalker. Levi is going to do whatever it takes to protect her. Having her in his home while protecting her changes everything for him. He isn’t going to keep his distance anymore and her brother will just have to deal with it. Elle’s stalker keeps finding ways to leave messages for her and they are no closer to figuring out who it is. Her stalker is much closer than anyone ever imagine. I had my guess for who the stalker was pretty early on in the book. Levi is a great character and so is Elle. They fit together and just click. Elle is very close with her brother Wes. I do feel like there are stories that I haven’t read about some of the other characters and how they met the SOs. They guys who work for Levi are wonderful as well. I can’t wait to read about them finding their women. There were some parts of the book that were meh for me. I real this genre a lot and think something didn’t make sense for her to do when she has a stalker. Overall, I loved this book and look forward to more books in the series. Great job A.K. Evans.

Popular local singer Elizabeth 'Elle' Blackman comes home from running errands and can’t get out of her apartment soon enough! She gets out but only can think of two places to run; one is to her honeymooning brother’s house and the other is Levi Cunningham’s security offices, who her brother has strongly suggested she not spend time with. Levi’s office it is.

The only safe place for Elle to stay is Levi’s place plus he escorts her to and from her gigs. That doesn’t stop a sinister note accompanying innocent flowers from reaching her as Elle’s burglar graduates to threatening. Levi and Elle share what they know of the situation with Elle’s friends and family who’ve also been told they are now a couple. Levi accompanies Elle on a multi-city tour where she’s accosted and attacked as Levi’s team try to determine who’s obsessed with Elle and why!

Not a fan! This outing failed my taste on several levels. Ugh, the dreaded relationship by committee trope: +1- descriptive sex scenes, updating friends on being with Levi and bragging on his prowess easily take 2/3 of the read, leaving little room for anything else making for a light storyline to go with characters too shallow to invest in. Also, I was not so pleased with the writing style (character speak) of the outing, it’s a bit choppy with a clunky flow for my taste.

This is my first book by this author and it was definitely good but I suspected who the stalker was right away and I was correct. That being said, it was still a good book.

My biggest issue was with Elle and her music career. WHERE WAS HER BAND DURING ALL OF HER PERFORMANCES? There was literally no mention of a band. Did she just play guitar and that was all, and if so, how do you manage to sell out venues in seven or eight cities on tour as a single performer with no record label support? None of that made any sense at all.

Elle is a singer song writer playing gigs in her small hometown saloon/bar. When she arrives home one evening she finds a stranger has been in her home leaving a frightening note behind. She turns to the guy she's had a crush on for several years who happens to have his own security firm.

When Levi Cunningham realizes the danger Elle could be in he's determined she'll stay with him until he gets to the bottom of things. Even though her brother has made it clear he isn't alright with them having a romantic relationship Levi intends to change her brother's opinion on that matter right away.

It quickly turns out that Elle has a stalker. One filled with vile threats. With the help of Levi and his security team they will bring down the crazy, and unexpected, person terrifying Elle.

This audiobook introduces the listeners to the Cunningham Security Series. One that promises to keep this listener engaged.
We are introduced to the men of Cunningham Security, and this story belongs to Levi Cunningham and rising musician Elizabeth/Elle Blackman.
Elle has big plans for her career and is thrown off guard when she realizes that not only someone has entered her apartment, but also appears to be stalking her.
Realizing she needs professional help, Elle reaches out to Levi , the same man she’s been crushing on for a while.
Determined to keep her safe, Levi and his men go to work. What he didn’t expect is the attraction to Elle. One that might have him blurring the line between his professional and personal lives.
Their chemistry is off the charts. One that seems to cause the stalker to become more dangerous.
Will Levi and his team be able to keep Elle safe? If they do, what will happen to their relationship?
The audiobook was a good introduction to the series and the rest of the members of Cunningham Security. Individuals likely to be getting their stories in the near future.
The narrators Kit Swann and Aaron Shedlock manage to bring the story to life.
I was entrusted a copy of this audiobook. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Obsessed by AK Evans is the first book in the Cunningham Security series! It was about Levi, owner of a security agency, and his good friend Wes’ little sister Elle, a singer. Both had met before and felt a strong magnetism for each other. Levi decided in their previous meeting not to act upon their attraction for each other. Elle discovered that someone had broken into her home and left a threatening message with a fan headshot photo of her. Elle seeks out Levi at Cunningham Security when he decides not only to take her to her case. but that she would stay at his home in a spare bedroom. Their attraction grows as it becomes obvious Elle has a stalker. Levi goes on tour with Elle, with two other bodyguards joining them. Obsession is action-packed with suspense and one incredible love story. It is a page-turner that one has to read every single word until the last page—another outstanding security romance. There are ten books in this series, and I can’t wait to read each one. Obsessed is available in audiobook form narrated by Kit Swann, and Aaron Shedlock. I loved the emotion projected by the narrators, so get your earbuds ready and listen to the banter and drama come alive with the readers.

This is my first book by AK Evans. This is series is a spinoff from the "Everything" series, so having not read that series, I was a bit confused because I felt like I dropped in the middle of a story. However, the feeling quickly passed and I was able to get into the book. I wouldn't say that I dislike the book, I quite like it but I knew who the perp/stalker from the get go ... it was just too easy.

Elle, the heroine just annoy the heck out of me, I couldn't really endear to her. Levi has the potential the perfect book boyfriend but there were instances that he annoyed me too, for instance, Levi is obsessed in making sure Elle look him in the eyes when they have sex or when she's about to orgasm. Sometimes they were in sexual positions which could be quite uncomfortable for her to keep "giving him the eyes" .... it was laughable! LOL However, he redeemed himself towards the end of the book when he creates a library in his home for Elle. I mean, a man who builds a library for you? That's a huge plus point for me!

I'm good with continuing this series and I will definitely check the "Everything" series.

Elle Blackman is a singer who has just attracted the attention of a stalker.
Levi Cunningham is the owner of Cunningham Security and they almost had a relationship some months ago.
"I knew he felt attracted to me, but he sighted his respect for my brother as the reason to not pursue anything."
['sighted' should be 'cited']
The stalking escalates when Elle goes on tour - Levi and his crew provide protection with varying degrees of success.
Having just finished a run of fairly short Christmas books I was quite looking forward to a longer read - never judge a book by its cover! It should have been cut by a third, mostly by dropping some of the sex scenes (or drop the stalker altogether and just get on with it). It could also have done with a more thorough editing.
When a book is trying to do two things at once it is difficult to maintain a balance between them. In 'Obsession' the stalking becomes secondary to the relationship between Elle and Levi and the book loses focus.
That said 'Obsession' is a fair to middling read but not likely to stick in your mind longer than a day or two.

Obsessed (Cunningham Security Series Book 1) by AK Evans 5 stars
Levi & Elle

She had quite a surprise when she walked into her bedroom to find her promo photo on her bed with a message written on it. Not only did the message scare her, but whoever wrote it had been in her home. Only one thing came to mind. Well Two--run and to Levi. A man she'd met and been attracted to but who owned and ran a well-known security agency.

He was minutes away when one of his men called him and told him she was at their office, terrified, asking for Levi. He was back in minutes. This time he couldn't and wouldn't even consider avoiding her or assigning another agent.

Finding the stalker was as hard as keeping his feelings for her in check. The team was supposed to protect her on her singing tour. They worked the hard case and his feelings began to escape. Would he keep her safe as promised? What about their hearts?

A great start to the series. Wonderful characters, some related, all friends. Emotional, steamy, and one you won't want to put down except to download the next one. Most of this series is available now.

Loved it!

This book was a bit of a deviation from the previous ones by A.K. Evans. We got a little bit of a feel for this type of story when we were initially introduced to the Cunningham Security team in one of the books in the Everything series. I thoroughly enjoyed those books, but this one had all the elements that I loved from those as well as the added drama and suspense thrown in. It was a nice change of pace and I'm looking forward to rest of the series.

The relationship between Elle and Levi was beautiful to witness and the way they overcame their relationship hurdles was refreshing. It wasn't wrought with unnecessary drama and a lack of communication.

Aside from the romance and the obvious suspense element with Elle's stalker, one of the things I really liked was being able to get a bit more insight into some of the other members of the security team. I really can't wait for Dom's story.

If you like a little bit of action with your romance, I absolutely recommend this book.
