Veel geleerd van dit boek over de tijd waarin Jezus leefde en vooral ook over een sociologische benadering van de Bijbel, waar ik van tevoren eigenlijk nul kennis van had. Maar het is aardig taaie kost en zoals al door een andere recensent werd opgemerkt schiet de redactie van de bundel echt tekort: sommige hoofdstukken staan zo boordevol herhalingen en sommige alinea's sluiten zo slecht op elkaar aan dat de betekenis van wat er gezegd wordt vrijwel verloren gaat. En dit terwijl de thematiek juist zo interessant is! Mijn blikveld met betrekking tot de Bijbel en haar schatten is zeker verruimd en ik heb heel veel nieuwe aanknopingspunten gevonden voor mijn eigen interpretatie en begrip van de Bijbel.
