Treacherous, sexy, and highly addictive. USA Today bestselling author Ella Fields delivers the conclusion to Audra’s story in this fast-paced dark fantasy romance.

I have your queen. If you wish to see her again, you know what you need to do...

After months of burgeoning peace, Queen Audra is doing her utmost to help Rosinthe further cleanse itself of the stains her father left in his wake. With the steadfast lord of the east at her side, and her estranged husband returning to his duties in the Sun Kingdom, it would appear that order has finally been restored.

But nothing is ever as it seems.

A mystical land has awakened, and after being locked unto itself for many years, its king wants more than answers. He and his realm are in need of something else, and he’ll stop at nothing to retrieve it.

Hearts will break. Blood will spill. Desire will destroy. When two worlds collide, can love endure when vengeance must reign?

Contains dark themes. Recommended for 18+ and that book one, A King So Cold, be read first.

Fast-paced, fantastical, and action packed!

Ella Fields treats us to a damn good time in The Stray Prince! We spend most of that time in Beldine, the magical land of fae, in this installment. It's a whole new landscape to explore full of enchanted forest and magnificent creatures of all kinds. There's a new asshole wearing a crown thrown into the mix, too! I'm telling you, you will be entertained!

f9c9cbf7e7ccba43929db0ca33609e37

Our beloved couple's love is put to the test when a long buried secret comes to light. I have to be honest though. Ella did such a great job of convincing me that those two were meant to be in AKSC, I never doubted their commitment to one another for a second. The angst level felt much less intense than what I'm used to from this author because of that. That being said, it should be! This is an already established couple that are still in the honeymoon phase of their relationship. If I doubted them immensely, then I probably didn't believe in them in the first place.

The continuation of Audra and Zad's love story is refreshing and beautiful. Don't get me wrong, they have to work through some shit. It's not all sunshine and rainbows, but they have such a deep love and respect for each other that it's incredible to experience.

-Love, I’d come to learn, did not care for rules or risk. Love was untamable, a force of magic no one could escape should it befall them.

Audra was once known as the cold winter queen, her cruel beauty admired and feared by everyone that crossed her path. She still thrived on control, and was just as powerful and ruthless, but she'd also made alliances to rule her kingdom in harmony and avoid war. She was finally somewhat at peace with where her life was currently at. She'd given in to the undeniable pull she shared with the lord of the east. She'd accepted her need for him knew no bounds, and he made her heart beat anew, but could everything she held dear be taken away? Nothing is as it seems, and everything she thought to be true is now unclear. Different realms are colliding as deception, danger and unknown threats loom on the horizon, and the queen is yet again forced to make impossible decisions. Will she show weakness and be destroyed, or will she prevail as the fierce, fearless queen she's known to be?

I didn't think anything could top my love for A King So Cold, but Ella Field's did it again. This story was everything I wanted and more. In the conclusion to Audra's story I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. What a wild, crazy, exciting ride. This book was packed with action, emotion, angst, magic, secrets, lies, seduction, betrayal, vengeance, loyalty, and love. I was completely consumed through these character's journey. The Stray Prince is book two in the Royals duet by Ella Fields. It is best enjoyed read after book one, A King So Cold. It's a wickedly sexy, royal dark fantasy, paranormal romance that is addictive, intense, and captivating from start to finish.

Hello darkness my old friend...

The series is over and somehow I’m just supposed to go on with my life without more Audra and Zad.

This was stunning.

1. Audra is wickedly merciless and quite possibly my true love.
I’m completely enamored. She stays consistently herself in this book, something I always worry about when it comes to characters like her in sequels. I’m not interested in them morphing into good and loving people. So, thank goodness Audra continued to have zero patience for any of that.

2. Zad was territorial and it was hot AF. 😏
I don’t know why I love this so much when it comes to the mates trope, BUT I DO AND I’M NOT SORRY.

3. You get to meet a new villain who is absolutely atrocious.
10/10. It’s a fine line to walk to find a villain who can outdo a character like Audra. Sometimes authors do this wrong because they think they need to take the purely-evil-for-no-reason-because-some-men-just-want-to-watch-the-world-burn route. Which is fine. I love a good psychopath story. But I’m a masochist who likes to be punched in the feels, so I’m pleased Ella Fields didn’t go that route in this.

4. The spice.
A King So Cold is a tough act to follow on this front, BUT GOOD GOD DID THIS DELIVER.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go stare vacantly out a window for the rest of my life because this perfect series is over.

Audra and Zadicus are back! And what an entertaining return it was. New worlds and characters are introduced and it was depicted beautifully. I felt I was in this new world discovering it just as the characters did.

A ruthless villain who thinks he can take whatever he wants because of his title but he hasn’t met the formidable Queen Audra. She truly shows why she’s the queen of The Moon Kingdom. She’s cold as ice when it really matters and when she sets her mind on something. She and Zadicus’ relationship gets tested to the fullest. They’re linked but still emotions are hurt along with their trust in one another. It was intense and one hell of a ride. They both did questionable things in the name of love and it was also what paved the story forward when it came to them being a couple.
The story definitely had its twists and surprises I didn’t see coming but I welcomed them cause it gave the characters and story more depth.

It was great to be back with Audra, Zadicus and the other characters who appeared in A King So Cold. I didn’t think it was possible for Zadicus to make me even more crazy about the man but he delivered in TSP. The title of this book is just perfect now I now the reason behind it. A wonderful sequel that made me escape into another world for a couple of days. I couldn’t ask for more.

4 The Perfect Storm Stars

"Be careful what you long for..."

This was the lesson this book gave me. Why did I ask for a second book?

The reason that I gave The Stray Prince such a low rating when before reading this book I was sure I would give it five stars like I gave <>A King So Cold, can be summed up in two words: Character Assassination .

If you liked or loved this book I ask for your sanity and mine don't read this review . Because plain and simple I hated it, this book crushed my fangirl feelings. I literally cried with disappointment because of two horrible scenes that ruined Audra in my view and I have to spill all this anger, repulsion, frustration, and sickness or I will implode. My problem isn't with you, it's with the book and if you ended it feeling happy: good for you, really. So please this is my friendly warning.

There were many things wrong in this book, many repetitive conflicts, cycles of the same reactions, lack of a more detailed show of Zad's past, and of the courts, idiotic and outrageous naive decisions, miscommunication parties, personal development backtracks, and the conclusion that not much happened in the 317? pages, but the thing that broke my fan self was that The Stray Prince deliberately destroyed Audra as one of my favorite female characters ever.

If you all read my review from A King So Cold you will see how I adored the book and how I worshipped Audra as such a complex character with many layers that gave both villain vibes as showed us through the cracks her vulnerable side and her own fierce code of honor, how could I ask for more? Brilliant, wicked, loyal, and an advocate against sexual assault, Audra had the biggest reputation in this bookworm's heart. And it’s with deep sadness and frustration and much rage that I have to say that what this book caused for me was an extremely negative perception of her.

I was looking for the definition of character assassination in Urban Dictionary and I found the perfect one that made such a terrible yet satisfying sense because it summarized a list of what went wrong in general with Audra’s as a character in The Stray Prince:

*"erasing previously established positive development exaggerating their worst flaws (flanderdization);”
*“making them behave in out of character (OOC) ways that make them come across as unsympathetic and stupid out of nowhere for the sake of creating cheap shock value, forcing a character into the villain role with no organic lead up;”
*"retreading previously established character development by undoing it of nowhere to do it all over again, and/or in order for the creator/author to prop up another...” in The Stray Prince case: test to the relationship and it's own toxic kind of OM drama.
* "‘redeemed’ without having to actually put in any sort of effort to develop their favorites into people who are actually behaving in ways that make them worthy of redemption by attempting to emotionally manipulate the audience to forget about the bad ways in which their favorites have behaved and/or the bad things their favorite character has done by deliberately pulling a character assassination on other characters and/or ships to make them seem just as bad, if not worse, in comparison to their favorites.”

ps.: AliceKettle from Urban Dictionary you nailed it. You won't ever know me but thank you, I would never be able to write a better definition, and yours fit like a glove in all the issues that I saw.

So now because I will be all spoilery about the first and second book showing which scenes clashed and why they were inside the character assassination list I will hide the rest of the review

Maddeningly frustrating!!!

What happened to the Audra that I loved in AKSC? Honestly, both Audra and Zadicus infuriated me to no end. They were like a couple of petulant toddlers. I was happy for the eventual HEA but boy was it hard fought. This was just 90% drama/angst that’s left me too exhausted to write a review 🙄

This book has me ALL UP IN MY FEELS! I mean, I didn't know what to expect going into The Stray Prince, but what I got was EVERYTHING. The angst, the tension, the darkness, the romance, the intense, utterly addictive, and imaginative storyline <<-- it all WRECKED me. This is hands down one of the BEST SERIES I'VE EVER READ. It's cruel and twisty, dark and intense, wicked and steamy, and I MORE than loveeeee it. I'm completely OBSESSED. I really hope Ella Fields gives us more fantasy romance books because I can't get enough.

PS: You must read A King So Cold BEFORE you read The Stray Prince!
PPS: This series is HOT AF!!!!!!!!

The fantasy world is so complex. It requires a huge imagination. But love is always love no matter the genre as well as secrets, lies, miscommunication, stubbornness and forgiveness. This story is also dark and brutal in it’s quest for a HEA.

I loved the struggle between the hero, Lord Zadicus and the heroine, Queen Audra. The secrets that he held close to his heart turned out to be ones that would cause him turmoil, strife, and the anger of his beloved queen. I loved their back and forth and the heightened emotions that they shed. But I will say that there were times that I thought they over did their emotions and it annoyed me on both their sides. But in the end, their love and commitment to one another triumphed over evil, enemies and lies.

I will never do this book justice with my review and all I want to do is talk and talk and talk about it...but I also don't want to spoil anything. If you are like me, you have been demanding this book the second you finished A King So Cold. Or, if you are just now binging both books then you're a lucky bastard. To experience this grand story for the first time is beyond amazing.

Where do I start? Well, we get more Audra and we get more Zadicus and that's just fucking rad. And when I say more, I mean SO MUCH MORE! AKSC just scratched the surface with these characters and The Stray Prince digs deep into the center of their beings. See? I'm rambling but damnit Ella's detailed evolution of these individuals is awe-inspiring and written so remarkably. While we also get more of all beloved characters from AKSC, The Stray Prince introduces new lavish settings with new lush characters and an exceptional villain that invades Audra and Zad's world with tortuous anguish. The new hurdles thrown at them are hard, heartbreaking, and sizzling in betrayal and vengeance. They are pushed to the limits of their emotions in an astonishing culmination of events.

I have never felt so invested in fictional book characters. Never. I was terrified and genuinely worried. I was frustrated...but in that way that only a great story can cause. I was fretting to the point of almost tears over what was happening. Their pain and stress was my pain and stress. No joke people. It's killer.

This book has the kind of narrative arc that enthralls with its twists and action, rollercoaster of emotions, and characters that you will love to love and love to hate. These traits tick off the boxes of an extraordinarily written book. Every word on every page. Call me superfluous but for me, it's true. The Stray Prince is an outstanding continuation and conclusion to one of the best stories I've ever read, and it deserves much more than a star rating.

Don't know who or what it's about but I'm rather excited just with that title.
Ella Fields has become my 'one-click' author... She has been delivering some really good books lately.

Update:

Having LOVED Ella Field’s A King So Cold, I seriously thought I knew where this was headed but this was surprisingly unexpected.
No one can deny that Audra and Zad’s love story is wickedly good (I’ll fight you on that, if you don’t agree). This book pushed and tested Audra and Zad’s relationship to the limit and I am not going to deny that I was at the edge of my seat the entire time! I didn’t want them to break! The angst almost ruined me in Stray Prince.
Zad to Audra: My perfect storm, my entire fucking heart.”
Crude but SWOON!!!!

When Audra said that Zad was “my animalistic lover, ,my gentle prince, and my territorial lord”..I may have gotten chills because that pretty much sums him up.
Stray Prince is jammed packed with secrets, lies, wicked mind games, love and steam.

What an incredible tale of magic, fantasy, and royal kingdoms. Our favorite queen had more story to be told and it is not without heartache and pain. Queen Audra will find her true purpose and her place to call home.

Secrets are just ammunition for the wicked. The Queen will be used as collateral when Beldine’s King seeks something crucial to its survival. King Ryle is formidable. He is cruel and unscrupulous. There is no boundary he will not cross and he uses his faerie powers to force your hand to do his bidding.

Queen Audra will need to survive and find her freedom as she knows the King will never let her go. She is brave when she needs to be and willing to sacrifice whatever necessary. Losing part of herself in the process is inevitable, but she didn’t forsee lising the only thing that really mattered.

This was an emotional roller coaster of a read. I loved Audra but at times I hated her in equal measure. In the end, you will understand her motivitations even if her path was destructive. She was ruthless with the enemy, but protected her people fiercely.

A memorable romance crafted so beautifully, with a vibrant backdrop and incredible creatures that enhanced this tale. The author didn’t just deliver an unforgettable story, but a whole new world where fantasy lives and breathes.

This is everything I’m forever searching for in a romance (I’m convinced she wrote this story just for me LOL). The world-building, the angst, the cruelty, the polished writing, the undying, soul-bleeding love, with a cutthroat, badass heroine and a side of horror… Gah! It’s so hard to find ADULT fantasy books like this with the right balance of spice and plot. Ella Fields writes magical perfection, and I’m addicted.

I almost didn’t read this second book because I thought there was no way the author could blow me away twice. Oh man, she did. Book 2 was even better.

If I thought I loved Audra after A King So Cold well nothing prepared me for The Stray Prince. She’s a BAD ASS QUEEN with all capitals! And Zad, well he’s Book Husband material. Cue the heart eyes...

This book is the kind of story you know you’ll read again because there are so many nuances that each read will bring something more.

It’s writing that’s packed with moments that bring out every emotion in a big way. I swooned. I cried. I raged. I gasped out loud.

It’s an action packed story rich with supporting characters - plenty of them treacherous and those characters cause decisions that broke my heart. I yelled at Ella a lot during this one. She deserved it!

I have all my fingers & toes crossed that we get more stories in this extraordinary world she’s created. I am officially obsessed!

Fantasy Storytelling that ticks every single box.

When I tell you that I went from passed out cold on my couch to Katy Perry Wide Awake when I started reading this book- I am not lying. This. Was. A. Page. Turner.

The new villain is repulsively wicked and brought so much friggin excitement to this book.

This book had my temperature rising for many reasons. It had me stressed AF, excited, frustrated, and smirking for days (knowwhatimean😏).

So- if you are on the hunt for something to cause you to lose sleep, experience hot flashes, and make your blood pressure skyrocket- all in the best way possible- this is the book for you.

This is a continuation of the story of mainly Audra and her Lord, Zad but the other characters from book 1 are along for the ride.
Secrets from Zad's past come to light things he should have told Audra about and these cause huge issues between them.
They are all in live after the first book but it seems when they have problems their relationship becomes quite toxic and they have a love/hate and want to hurt each other.
They both make mistakes.
I wasn't too impressed with Zad's behaviour towards the end.
There is some other man drama.
Spoilers....

Audra has been kidnapped and the kidnapper desires her. They kiss, I think it's twice, one it implies she was compelled. And the other man sees her naked.
Other woman drama.
The Hero, Zad is needed to perform 'The Act' to save his homeland which involves having sex with 3 other women.
He refuses, is almost forced, through drugs but it doesn't end up happening.

HEA.

DNF—— I feel like this book was nothing like the first one. The first one could’ve been a standalone. I tried to finish but couldn’t get through the last 30 pages because it felt like the same conflicts kept repeating itself. The killing of the brother should’ve been at the end and then a nice wrap up. Instead this random battle is thrown in that lasts two seconds. Once Ryle was killed everything felt anti-climactic since he was the villain of the story. Also, the constant fighting between the two MC was rough and I just wanted them to stop. I highly recommend reading the first book and then the part of the epilogue that is 10 years later (I skimmed that part) because that feels like a complete story.

Okay, I think I needed The Stray Prince in my life because it made me like Zad way more than I originally did. So, yes, I am very happy that I took a chance on this one because Zad and Audra have serious chemistry and I just love their connection. Even if they frustrate me to no end making horrible decisions without communication it first. BUT DETAILS.

Now this had it's fair share of drama. It also had a ton of action and a lot of it I wasn't expecting. Fae's can be very mysterious and can probably charm the pants off of you. Yet, they are very devious and they don't always mean what they say. Or is it say what they mean? Either way, one can easily be confused like I was for some things.

Didn't stop me from falling even more in love with Audra's black heart. She is fearsome and consistently tries to do the right thing. Even if one doesn't always agree with her methods. She is extremely faithful to Zad and vice versa. They are definitely two peas in a pod and I just love their sass when it comes to certain things.

In the end, I definitely enjoyed the crap out of this one. The epilogue was also really cute because I'm so happy that her and the other king found their happiness. They also started to build their own families. So so cute.

Just fantastic. I really don’t have words but this is one of those books that will stick in my brain. This book takes place months after the ending of book one. That’s pretty much all I can say 😅

Seriously though, there is so much angst and drama. Where the first book is primarily about the dynamics and outcomes of the Queen, King and Lord, this book is adventure, drama and a test on love. Nothing is easy. Nothing is black and white.

I cannot recommend this duet enough if you are a fan of dark fantasy, possessive and obsessive men and a female character that has zero f-cks to give.

Well..... I wasn't sure what to expect with this story as A King So Cold seemed pretty final.
But, what an adventure. I did not see any of that coming.
This book really illuminated all of my senses. There were so many descriptions of everything that I was on sensory overload. Fantasy might be my new favorite thing because literally anything and everything can happen and it's totally normal.
Audra is "Nevertheless, she persisted" personified. She is such a brilliant, effective ruler if not a little brash in her ways. She really surprised me in this story. She lets you see a little more vulnerability.
It was interesting to see Zad a little more helpless. A bit of a role reversal that I enjoyed immensely as a woman. I love it when the females are superheroes.

ARC RECEIVED!

I have no words. So many twists and turns. The angst burned me in the most delicious way. Zad. Oh Zad was everything I didn't know i needed. I couldn't let my brain rest with this one, I devoured it until the end. All kinds of emotions traversed in me in one sitting. Was it too much? Yes. Did I complain? No, never. I ate up all the words like a maniac. Ella painted this imaginary world in my head where a Prince like Zad exists and I want so bad to just disappear and live there. It was fantasy at its finest. She delivered this story and more. I can't help but think, Audra is one lucky B! Another great work from this author. The real definition of THE BOMB!.

This book two was full of so many twists and turns and feels I couldn't even see straight. I loved that Ella wrote a book in this genre and did such an amazing job with writing all the fine details and letting me escape to this Fae land. The characters were packed full of emotions which i felt they truly were not aware of the depths of these feelings and seeing the selfish and unselfish ways they were exposed.

The one thing I will tell a reader is make sure you are in a place where you cannot be distracted as this book is all consuming and you need to allow yourself to be completely consumed.
