"Hero" – the 4th and final book in the exciting State Changers series

The battle is over. Cian has been run off. Thankfully, casualties were few and those injured are on the mend.

Exhausted, Casidhe goes in search of her bed, and much needed rest before embarking on the second stage of her dangerous mission to save the worlds. Instead of a soft landing, what Casidhe discovers in her suite, blows her mind, opens her heart, and changes her life forever.

Desperately trying to juggle her new responsibilities with the weight of the worlds, Casidhe takes a delegation into war-ravaged Tír na nÓg. Finding Rath Cruachan–the realm of the ancient and cruel Fae queen Morrigan–is minor compared to what Casidhe must sacrifice to reopen the portals and save them all.

Will Casidhe succeed in her mission and survive to tell the tale after the horrors Rath Cruachan? If not, who will defeat Cian once and for all, after he aligns with an ill-tempered Banshee and a zombie Fae witch?

For a millennium, Fae have hidden from human-kind. But facing the most powerful enemy in history, Fae venture topside, joining forces with State Changes and Druids, in the war to end all wars.

In this Lesbian fantasy thriller, Casidhe learns what being a hero really requires of her. She and Dana face the worst to find the best of what love has to offer.

I am a mother, a spouse, a writer, an editor, a marketer, and a part-time farmer. I grow, build, remodel and fix things. I spent over 25 years in a tech career that I didn't love but still excelled in. Now, I make books. Some I write myself. Some are the works of others. I live in a hollow surrounded by trees, a little piece of paradise in Pennsylvania, with my wife, our last teenage son, goats, chickens, dogs and occasionally pigs, turkeys, deer, ducks, and many other varieties of birds and wildlife.

Writing the State Changers series was the most fun I have had professionally, ever. The process of writing is like coming home. It is powerful and humbling at the same time. Casidhe became so real to me, inspiring and guiding me as we found our way through the words and pages together. I sincerely hope readers love her story as much as I have. I heard a quote recently and it made me think of writing this series. "If it delights, it delights." Writing the State Changer series truly delighted me.

I have always loved books, and almost never can part with them once they find their way into my library. I can think of no other job I am more clearly suited to. Sunbury Press' moto is, "Continue the Enlightenment!" Who wouldn't want to be a part of that?

An action packed story and finish to the State Changers series. Cassidhie assumes her place as White Wolf in this finale but she still must deal with her evil twin brother who hatches another plot to rule the world that involves, all the races and their children. Cassidhie and her mate Dana find themselves with a new addition to their family that brings a special joy to their lives. The White Wolf grows into her power and helps others to find the heroes inside each of them. This is a terrific series to dip your toe into the world of paranormal fantasy and it is a delight to find WLW within.

I received a ARC in exchange for an honest review.

There were so many of my favorite “races/species” including Fae and Druids in Hero. I enjoy as novels expand on the canon, folklore and mythology. The character and world building were very well written. Siblings bringing about world domination is a bit tropey. We need a hero—we especially need to find the heroes within us despite family, callings or races. Since I hadn’t read the previous books there were some great twists. The women characters are especially strong and I was impressed by the female partnership. I received a copy of Hero to read and voluntarily review. I do recommend reading the entire series and I personally went back to the beginning.

Effective, tight writing with strong character development. The main characters overcame the pain of separation by being stronger together. Organizing Fae, State Changers, Druids was a well written challenge. I enjoyed the book, a satisfying end to a good series.

What a Series!

To anyone who likes Tolkien, this is a tale of mixed races and evil forces.
All the characters are well rounded and believable. This a four book series with plenty of intrigue, twists and turns..
I am only sorry I have finished reading it.

I didn’t want it to end. I loved the book and this series. Can we get 4 more books in this series? I would surely read them. This series was a great Christmas present for me.
