I'm just a girl in love with literature. My love affair with romance novels started with I was 13 and has flourished into an obsession. I've always been a writer. Even when I was a little girl, I always had a pen and a notebook poised to let something out. You Make Me Better is my first project that will be published and I am STOKED. My goal is to write stories surrounding positive black love, with a little humor tossed in.

I loved everything about this book! The Law of Attraction was the complete opposite of it's predecessor. There was none of the angst, pain, and drama that we got in book one. Well, there was a little drama but, not of the relationship variety. It was more family drama than anything. Qais is the man we all hope we run into on poetry slam night at the library. This man was an absolute dream! My heart just broke for him because of the betrayal he had to deal with. But, fate had other plans for Qais when he ran into Tarryn. They were the perfect match. It's like they were hand picked for each other. Theirs was such a sweet love story. I absolutely loved Taryn's growth from book one. She finally stopped being a wallflower, grew a backbone, and started putting her daddy in his place. I just wished the author would've let Taryn cut Daddy Montgomery completely out of her life. He doesn't like Qais and he's still rude and disrespectful when they go over for their monthly dinner. I don't understand why she continues to subject them to his behavior. But, I digress. The Law of Attraction was an excellent read. It was sweet, funny, and romantic. Definitely a grown folks romance. Get into this series people. You will enjoy with immense pleasure.

I loved reading about Qais and Taryn’s story. Qais oozed Alpha energy mmm mmm mmm 😋 . Boy did they have some snakes in their garden. Between Reese, Kamila, Levi, Taryn’s father and grandmother, idk who was worse…. Just a sleazy bunch! The updates about Sym, Lou, Aunt Bert and Pierre was a welcomed surprise. I missed them! I’m glad to see that Qais and Taryn got their HEA.

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure and vice versa for women. I thought Qais and Taryn's love story was beautiful and believed they both deserved one another.

Fated love

Another one!! Ashley Nicole is hitting us with the bangers lol.

This was a sweet read. Definitely a completely different vein than book 1 and I appreciate the range she continues to show. This book is about Taryn's (Sym's big sister from book 1) journey to love. Taryn was 34, but had been letting her father run her life. He still treated her like she was a little girl, mainly because she had allowed it for so long. Finally, her eyes were opened to the bs and she was able to let go of the lame as$ boyfriend her father chose for her. As well as the claws her father had in her life and decision making. This new found freedom led her unexpectedly into the arms of Qais. They both were going through it, but needed an escape. Qais was ready for the next phase of his life, but his dream of a family was prematurely snatched by Kimala...his ho3 of a fiance. Kimala was a real piece of work and had no shame, just hot trash. Qais dodged a bullet, and gained his future. It took a little bit, but Taryn and Qais realize they have a connection and waste no time embracing it. After all of years under her father's thumb Taryn finally got her HEA and she deserved it, especially with the tall, fine, confident man that was Qais.

Taryn and Qais...A True Love Story

I just want to say 'Thank You'. Thank you AshleyNicole for this book. Thank you for this beautiful love story. Thank you for the update on Pierre. But most of all, Thank You for the hug❤️

The hug between Lou and Aunt Bert was what I needed. It was the only thing that I felt was missing in 'The Closer I Get To You' (Lou and Sym's story). I've spent the last few weeks reading your books - this was my 16th - thanks to COVID and Kindle Unlimited..lol. 'The Closer I Get To You' was one I was compelled to buy. Though I've enjoyed all of your books, some more than others, that was the one that I needed to remain in my library. This book will be the second. I'll probably go back and buy the Mine and One More series as well, to be honest, but I digress...

So, Lou and Aunt Bert's hug was what made me cry, but that wasn't the only lovely thing in this book. Taryn, a disillusioned woman, and Qais, disheartened man, find each other in the midst of their turmoil. The writing for this novel was superb. The fleshing out of these characters was on point. Along with my tears (Lou and Aunt Bert❤️), I also did a lot of smiling while I read this book. A lot of smiling. I appreciated the lack of vindictiveness in this story. Ms. Nicole chose to write this story with a level of Adult Woman Integrity that I truly enjoy. Some pettiness is fine, but more than 'some' becomes childish and cartoonish. This is what I'm calling, "A Grown Folks romance novel."

This was a wonderful follow up to 'The Closer I Get To You,' and a lovely story all on its own. I highly recommend this book with ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Betrayal becomes a Blessing

I am always fascinated as an avid reader how I come into different books. This particular book came to me from a tweet from this author. I am so glad I saw that tweet because I discovered a great series through the Montgomery sisters. The first book in the series was emotional and this book was also great. I loved the chemistry between Qais and Taryn. I loved the character development especially of Taryn getting away from the pedestal her father placed her on. I felt for Qais and the betrayal he encountered at the hands of his best friend and fiancée. That betrayal became a blessing and the blooming of Qais and Taryn love under unconventional means of meeting. I don't want to give out spoilers but I will say this...as Tabitha Brown would say, "let's get into it".

Really enjoyed getting to know Taryn, and a bit more of the back story from Sym's tale. Although Taryn had let the men in her life, literally take over, I'm glad that she got the strength to say "enough"! Her damn daddy was a f&$kboy for real, for real! Wanted to send some of my uncles to take care of him! 😂 Then Levi too! Girl please!
Her meeting Qais, and spending time with him was eye opening for both of them. Qais was dealing with a hell of a lot when he met Taryn, but she was able to calm him, and give him the peace that he needed. Qais, although a stranger made Taryn feel comfortable and safe. Loved catching up with Sym, and her ratchet mouth! These two were just the perfect match. Now, I really hope that we get a backstory about Taryn's parents. There has to be more to this story on why her dad just acts like a damn fool, and her mother is completely unbothered. Good read!

This Is A Great Series

I love these Montgomery Sisters….both sisters have unique qualities that really make you root for their happiness. Taryn met a man at a library poetry slam by chance and indulge in a one night stand with a twist, which in turn also ends up with a HEA..this is such a great story….Even with Taryn’s crazy ex, father and grandmother….

Tarryn x Qais

Aahhh!!! This was way calmer, way tamer than the previous installment. Both super enjoyable. Again, never have been a fan of ONS. But here I am, extremely happy with the way this one turned out. I love these sisters and their stories were very refreshing. So of course I'd recommend.

We Belong Together

Qais and Taryn were so right for each other.

I hate what happened to Qais, the situation with his Best friend, Reese and fiancee, Kamila. I mean, if they were going to continue sleeping and being together, why not just tell everyone and not go behind their spouses back. Then for Kamila to send a pic of her honey pot to Reese right before she was to marry Qais was a bit much, geez🤨. I'm glad Qais stuck to his guns and left both Kamila and Reese alone. They were some deceitful people whom deserved each other.

Although they were not seeking to have a one night, or three night, stand, I actually like the way Taryn and Qais met. The law of attraction was certainly there and they were bound to be. Although I understand why he left the hotel, I wish he'd at least left a note for Taryn. I know he needed to get his life in order and mind right after the betrayal of his ex best friend and ex fiancee, so I'm glad he left, yet just not how he did. I love that although his best friend betrayed him, he still stayed close to Reeses family.

Taryn was so naive that it hurt to read about at times in the previous book, so I was happy to see her grow a backbone and stand up to her dad and ex boyfriend, Levi. They wanted to control her and she wasn't having it anymore. Although I'm glad her sister, Sym, stepped in and pepper sprayed Levi, I was hoping she'd let Qais get to him. Levi was a weak male. Her dad was too; just a sad waste of a human. I do like that even though she was becoming stronger, she let Qais be the man and love her, letting her be herself yet taking the lead when needed, especially in the bedroom. Even when he realized she was a virgin their first time, he was gentle with her, making sure she's ok; I knew he was the one in that moment. Although Taryn is working on herself, she's still great at her job and doesn't lose herself in all parts of her life.

This was definitely a great read and I'm glad Taryn got her story. Highly recommend.

Simple love

This book was the total opposite of Lou and Sym but it was still just as good. Taryn and Qais's story compared to Lou and Sym was simple. They started as a fling but it ended in their forever. This was another wonderful read from Ms. Nicole.

I am looking forward to whatever she releases next whether it be another Mason, Preto village, or something else I will be reading.

Powerful attraction

I gave the book 4 stars because although I found this story to be entertaining , there seemed to be a few gaps in the story. Sorting through the baggage that these two unexpected lovers were dealing with needed a few more pages

I found the first meeting at the library to be more than just an ordinary attraction. It was intriguing and mysterious
These two people were both in a dark place and a powerful attraction caused each of them to act totally out of character. The second encounter at the library made me chuckle Qia, seemed extremely sure of himself as well as determined. I don’t want to give anything away , so I’ll just say that I’m glad they both worked things out.

I was extremely proud of Taryn when she finally found her voice when it came down to her father , Levi and her grandmother. She made use her mind and didn’t look back.
Enjoyable read

As usual Ashley blends humor and heat to bring us an entertaining boy meets girl with a twist! Loved Taryn and Qais, with a little Sym and Lou thrown back into the mix!

Love the writing - Hoping the religious leaning isn't a norm

The story was cool and unique and I liked it. It was too Christian leaning for my tastes. I was afraid it was going to turn into a Christian book and I wasn't warned. It pushed that line. I get that many American Melanated people are Christian due to our unfortunate history. So many authors want to include that culture into their works. I don't like it and it takes away from the story. If I wanted to read a Christians book there is an entire genre for that desire. Everyone in this book was Christian leaning. The H wasn't but he finally agreed, "yeah it probably was Good" at one point which made me roll my eyes. Otherwise Good story. My 4th book by this author and the other three received 5 stars.

My personal preference would have been that the father and his people were the religious folk but Sym and her mom made excuses on the fact that they still watched or did alternative Church. Why bring religion into it if she is having all the sex. No one was following the tenants of Feb religion so I would have enjoyed more if it was left out and it was life was dealt with by being dealt with.

Instead of "Thank you God" by the aunt, a " I can't explain how happy this makes me, I been waiting for you to heal" and since she is religious, " and thank God you did" since the author is clearly a Christian.

I am excited to find this author and will be reading more but if more books are heavily saturated with religion, I may have to bounce.

I absolutely adored Qais and Taryn. I was wondering how AshleyNicole was going to work out their story since “The Closer I Get To You” time jumped in the epilogue, and I knew we couldn’t just pick up from there with Taryn. I liked how AshleyNicole formatted the book, and their meet-cute had me smiling hard nshit (despite the circumstances). Actually every time Qais and Taryn were together, I was smiling nshit.

I also appreciated that AshleyNicole answered some of the questions I had left over from “The Closer I Get To You”. (My main question was “did Lou ever hug his aunt?”) And Symantha was still a vibe. Levi, the dad and the grandma are still trash, and I wish Taryn would’ve gave Levi‘s info to Qais. A part of me is happy that he honored Taryn’s wishes but the vengeful side of me is like “he should’ve asked Symantha for the info” 😂

I definitely recommend reading this. You can read the series out of order and still enjoy this book; however, I recommend reading in order to really understand the hold Taryn’s dad on her.

Did Taryn break up with Levi on Friday Or Wednesday? This was said at the restaurant: “You’re drinking?” There was too much bite in his words for my liking. It was a Friday evening. After a busy week…” this was said when she left the restaurant: “Weird day for a wedding.” I murmured. It was almost 7pm on a Wednesday in October. “Weird time for a wedding too.”

Kamila and Reese are trash but especially Kamila.

Why does Taryn continue to accept dinner invitation if her dad and grandma continues to be so disrespectful. She shouldn’t subject herself and family to that. I love Taryn’s relationship with her sister and growing one with her mom.

I liked both Taryn and Qais as individuals and a couple but there were things about their story that didn’t have me drawn in like they were just so meant to be. But it was still an enjoyable story

Blessings being made

Qauis and Taryn story was one for the ages! When you are hand picked for each other not even all the forces the devil can keep you from your happily ever after. Ms. Nicole brings this story home by weaving the lives of two grown sisters and there different up bringing and how it impacts not only their ability to love by find the one true love meant for them. These two had an effortless attraction that was so easy and sexy I could continue to follow them through out their lives. This story shines a true light on the fact that just because you feel you’ve found the one the Lord may just have a better fit and that attraction can not be denied.🥰. Beautiful story

Laws According To Wolf’s

OMg 😆, I absolutely adore Qasi & Taryn’s banter, mutual careers, Acquaintance-ship turned relationship, marriage…& they get to live a life by the laws according to wolf’s! If they are happy with each other, who cares what the crotchety father & grandmother think👀😖! “The Law of Attraction..” Book 2 of the Montgomery Girls series was definitely different than book 1. However, equally entertaining if not more. …One of many memorable moments Sym “ready to unload a hot one into Levi” but his eyes got peppered bath instead 😂🤣🫣! …hilarious, unconventional romance and a HEA. My only criticism, this novella needed to be longer. I just didn’t want this book nor the journey of Qasi & Taryn to end. An excellent book, series & a fantastic read 😘👏🏿👏🏽👏🏾💐‼️

This was the perfect ending to the Montgomery girls series. Where the Closer I Get to You was a heavy read this one was light. But they were both good.
I didn't get why Taryn's mom wasn't more involved in her life.
Sym always said once a man got a piece of them they couldn't leave. I was so glad Taryn finally free s backbone and stood up to her dad. She and Qais were good together. Reese was never his friend if he fell for Kamila without any thought. They both got what they deserved in the end. I would definitely recommend this series.

Part 2

Taryn and Qais , they were made for each other. They meet at time in their lives when things were not looking the best for either of them. Those days they spent together started better things to come for them both with a bit drama in the middle. I love Heather , Sym, and all the others . That Christmas dinner had me on the floor😂 as well as few other scene. Well written and moved me tremendously.

Attracted to Law

Okay, I was expecting a different story, and I am not mad about what I got. Wow, this story was fascinating, entertaining, and just plain delicious. I loved this story shaken a few times and stirred. Taryn was a 30s, something female in a dead-end relationship when she met Qais at a library function. He had just received some crazy, stupid news. They hit it off after their staredown went viral, and I was hollering, no, no, don't, and then yes. No spoiler* You will like what happens later. The story was told with a unique voice you will enjoy with immense pleasure. It was a sensually sweet read.

Great read!

So, being that this was the second book that I’ve read by Ashley Nicole, I must say that I really enjoyed it. Who would’ve thought that a chance encounter at a poetry reading would lead to a lifetime of happiness. Taryn and Qais turned their one night stand, after each dumped their partners, into a three night fest that lead them to the altar. Loved the way that Taryn grew up and out of her father’s shadow.

I absolutely loved Book 2 of the Montgomery Girls Books 2

I loved this book because it is a story about grown folks dealing with grown folks relationship issues. Taryn and Qais made me smile, laugh and cry just a little bit. I appreciate how the truth made each of them free, free to find true love. Sometime pain will lead you where you are suppose to be. Awesome writing, I look forward to reading more books from AshleyNicole.

Loved this book!

This book was just as good as the first, but I didn't expect less from Ashley Nicole, I've loved every book I've read from her! Taryn was too sweet, I would have cut her father out a long time ago! And she should have let Sym shoot Levi! Now Qais was the man for Taryn! Now His ex fiance Kamila and his best friend Reese can both jump off a cliff because they were just trifling!!!

Too brief

I guess because book 1 of The Montgomery Girls book was soooo good, that book 2, feels like a letdown. I really wouldn’t mind just reading more about Sym and Lou. Book 2 is just missing something, maybe passion...I’m not quite sure but it doesn’t feel like they’re in love. I think something more should have been done to solidify their feelings for each other. It was just alright to me.

The Law of Attraction (The Montgomery Girls Book 2)

Qais Wolfe, Esquire has met a true Montgomery woman in Taryn. After walking away from his unfaithful bride-to-be Kamila at the altar, (She's been creeping with his best man Reese for over a year)... Qais just wants to drink his heartbreak away. A definite HEA for Taryn and Qais! I would recommend the book to others.

Should be against the law

Should be against the law how happy these two are together! They dodged bullets from their previous toxic relationships. Who knew poetry nights on a Wednesday in a library was the place to be.
I enjoyed finding out what happened to Syms sister after the way their father acted in the previous book.
Taryn broke free and got broke off and never been the same since! Qais was able to lose the dead weight and move on to the right side of the law!

Another good story.

After the wringer Lou and Sym put us through in book 1, this was a nice change of pace. No unnecessary angst. Just easing into love after each had their own messy (and I mean messy) break ups. Taryn and Qais found an everlasting love. They started out as complete stranger for only one weekend n d together that eventually changed once they found each other again after finding out each were successful attorneys. A nice change of pace.
