Hop in the car, turn the key, and vrooom away in this bright, bold book for young car enthusiasts!
Vrooom vrooom! Honk honk!
Green means go as readers set off on an exuberant celebration of automobiles. Colorful, graphic illustrations explore the winding roads, tollbooth, fix-it garage, and bridges with vehicles zipping across. It’s the perfect read-aloud for little ones who love all things that go.
Mary Lyn Ray is a conservationist and author of several picture books for children. She was born in Louisiana in 1946 and grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas. Ray has lived in New England since 1964, when she first came east to attend college. She currently lives in a 150-year-old farmhouse in South Danbury, New Hampshire, which she restored herself.
There is nothing like a good onomatopoeia book to read aloud. Vrooom Vrooom starts as a car book but when it changes to a Matchbox/Hot Wheels car book, it doesn't make a speck of difference to the enthusiastic child driver learning rules of the road.
Wow! Graphics don't get much bolder than Julien Chung's colorful and exciting artwork, and the author's enthusiastic words only add to the excitement. This is the most thrilling children's book I've read in a long time.
Great for imagining driving with kids and all the steps (holding the wheel, turning the key, etc), with a black, green, yellow, and red palette. Would be fun for a cars storytime. The size (incredibly narrow but also long) might be a bit unwieldly for storytellers to keep ahold of.
A great bridge from the board book to the picture book world for little readers who are obsessed with things that go. Bold, colorblock-style illustrations are great for grabbing the attention of squirmy littles.
Vroom Vroom how to drive a car, fast. Knowing rules are important when you are driving. Red is stop, follow the yellow lines, and fixing the car are valuable tip to know.
This is an action-packed book that comes in a small & fun-shaped package. It does a great introduction on how to drive/what cars can do. The illustrations are as loud as the words seem to want to be read, so I would not choose this for a before-bedtime story, BUT it is a fun read that gets reached for often & I would definitely check this out again.
