Longest read of my life…good at explaining things though.
I think the latter chapters could be more concise and better at explaining how all the metabolic concepts fit together. It seems like each pathway was introduced and explained independently of one another which made it difficult to connect.
I think beta oxidation was also so overhyped throughout the book. It was mentioned so often throughout the whole book but then the beta oxidation section was 2 pages.
The book was also 500 pages, the thickest of the set. I think some of the information can be omitted like protein catabolism because only the overview is necessary.
Overall good read though, better than the chemistry and physics Kaplan mcat books.
My take until the day I die is that ornithine and carnitine both sound WAY too sick not to be one of the 20 amino acids… like be so for real rn what the hell is asparagine doing on there
