A new generation of children love Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood , inspired by the classic series Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood !
Daniel visits a pumpkin patch in this Pre-Level 1 Ready-to-Read based on the hit PBS show, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood !
Daniel Tiger is visiting a pumpkin patch with his family and friends. The best part is, Mom and Dad Tiger told him he could pick out a pumpkin to bring home. Once they get to the patch, there are so many pumpkins to choose from—some are very small and some are very large. Will Daniel find the perfect one?
Daniel visits a pumpkin patch and chooses a medium-sized pumpkin. Miss Elaina likes big pumpkins and Prince Wednesday likes small ones, but each of them finds the pumpkin that's just right for them.
Lily likes this book. We went to a pumpkin patch last year, although we didn't stay long, so I think she can connect to the story.
This was the first Daniel Tiger book in which I noticed that the female tigers wear pants, but the male tigers are naked from the waist down. Other male characters, like the owls, are totally naked, except for bow ties. Although all of the human characters are fully-clothed, we had an interesting not-totally-joking discussion with our family about whether the relative freedom of the male animal characters vs. the females has any deep implications for how women's bodies are viewed in our culture. ("Cover up!")
Very simple (boring) text since it’s written for beginner readers who benefit from the easy language. But still was an okay read since we visited the pumpkin patch this week and wanted to read pumpkin-themed books
Daniel and his friends visit a pumpkin patch. Daniel tries to pick out the perfect pumpkin for him. Each of his friends tries to suggest a pumpkin, including Prince Wednesday.
We've never watched the show but this was a good (very easy) book to help boost kiddo's reading confidence. The repetition and simple language work well, and the illustrations are nice and bright.
DANIEL VISITS A PUMPKIN PATCH is a great early reading book for preschoolers. Today, Daniel is visiting the pumpkin patch with his family, and he has been given an important job - picking the pumpkin that is perfect for him and his family. Daniel is having a tough time deciding when he runs into Miss Elaina and Prince Wednesday, who show him their pumpkins and help suggest similar pumpkins. They are nice but not perfect for Daniel. He finally finds the perfect pumpkin for him and brings it home with his family.
What I loved: This is a cute and simple story, perfect for Daniel Tiger fans. With the fall season coming up, the story of picking out a pumpkin is one that will resonate with young readers. The book also includes favorite characters for fans of the series, who will enjoy seeing the pumpkins chosen by Prince Wednesday and Miss Elaina. The story is also interactive, asking questions of the reader, such as which pumpkins they would choose.
As an early/pre-reader, it uses large and clear font, short sentences, and repetitive phrasing. This is all ideal for children who are learning to read. With the familiar cast of characters, this early reader is perfect for preschoolers.
Final verdict: DANIEL VISITS A PUMPKIN PATCH is a fantastic seasonal pre-reader that is sure to charm preschoolers. Highly recommend for budding readers and Daniel Tiger fans!
