The classic, bestselling title today's parents grew up with - Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul 25th Anniversary Edition has been refreshed and updated with additional, new stories to help today's teens be the happiest, best versions of themselves.
It’s time to discover who you really are, feel empowered, define how the world sees you, and become more forgiving of family and friends… and yourself.
It’s still mostly about people. That’s why this book starts with chapters on Relationships, Friendship, Family, and Love and Kindness, and then moves on to Learning, Tough Stuff, and Making a Difference. And finally—because you’re looking to the future—a chapter on Going for It.
You’re not alone. When you read these stories about the lives of other teens you’ll realize you share many experiences and emotions. That is so empowering and comforting.
That’s why this collection of stories for teenagers is one of our most popular books ever, now updated for its 25th anniversary–with three dozen new stories for you—including ones about being a teenager during the pandemic, social media and technology, and many other modern-day issues.

This is a beautiful collection of unique stories, emotions, and voices. My favourite pieces were "A Best Friend Crush," "She Didn't Give Up on Me," "My First Kiss, and Then Some" and "The Boy Who Talked With Dolphins."
I recommend this book for any fans of Chicken Soup for the Soul, as well as teenagers, young adults, and the wonderful people who support them on their journeys!
I am super excited for this book! Of course I may be a little biased, seeing as I am one of the contributors.
UPDATE: JULY 30TH 2021:
My advance copies of Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul 25th Anniversary Edition arrived this week, and they look amazing! I am so honoured that my story was chosen to open the book! I can't wait to behold the incredible true tales in this installment.
UPDATE: AUGUST 3RD 2021:
I finished reading the book today! This is my favourite Chicken Soup for the Soul book! The chapters cover a vast array of topics that matter to teens. I recommend it to all my classmates from school, as well as the next generation of young adults and the people who support their teenage friends and family! I love to see how the original tales have aged over the last 25 years, and I look forward to seeing how the additional 29 stories will impact youth for generations to come!
I was curious to revisit this as an adult to gather any clues as to how it might have shaped my identity or values. I’ll cut to the chase and say: no-such luck. Like real chicken soup, you don’t remember any outstanding high notes of flavor, but simply the general feeling of warmth and comfort it provides.
It’s funny that they advertise this book to “help today’s teens be the happiest, best version of themselves” from a volume that contains some extremely dark stories about death, bullying, eating disorders, and suicide. But it’s the honesty and bluntness with which those topics are addressed that make this a powerful read for teenagers, an age when you want more independence and when you’re able to handle and understand the difficulties and pain of life, but also might lack the experience, context, and community needed to endure those experiences. And I think it’s that element of being seen and not being alone that this collection truly offers.
This newer 25th Anniversary edition includes 25 new stories, mostly written by actual teenagers or recent teenagers (college students). I will say those new stories stood out to me because the original stories are more retrospective on teenage years, written by adult speakers, authors, and actors. I found that I generally preferred the balanced and more nuanced perspectives of the adults.
Semester goal: After reading this book, I was able to learn lots of life lessons. This book included many stories from diverse perspectives of people all over the world. Through this book I was able to change my views on how I saw my daily life and it made me think about my past and how I would think of my present times in the future.
