I realize the timing of this review is completely inappropriate, given that it is neither Halloween or Xmas...and will be a several months before either roll around again. But I couldn't resist flipping through this when I saw it in the "New" shelf. Also, it's always a good time for treats...even when not paired with tricks. And this fun book seems to have plenty of the former. Coming from someone who is not an expert baker by any stretch of the imagination, most of the recipes contained within seem like they would be fairly do-able. However, there are a fair amount of what I call "Pinterest Fails" as well (perhaps this is where the "tricks" come in?) that I wouldn't even attempt without having a box of tissues handy. You know, for all the tears of frustration I'd cry after all the botched efforts.

Overall...this one looks fun.

-3 stars? i was only interested in the recipes, not the decorating part so my review is biased.

-there is not a picture for every recipe. there are 55 recipes and only 31 pictures. these are such creative recipes. the lack of pictures showing what they're supposed to end up looking like really ruined it for me.

-first half of the book is recipes. the second half of the book is parties. there are 4 parties, and each one has a section on invitations, decor, crafts and favors, activities, and menu. and in this party section there ARE pictures for every craft.

Beautifully put together book. Nice weight. Some good ideas I hadn't seen before. Not enough photos of the various recipes, and these are definitely things you need photos of to know how to make them look like the movie characters. Glad I waited for a library copy rather than purchase...lovely to look at but doubt I will make anything out of it.

Not only does this book have a lot of fun recipes and party ideas, it is beautifully illustrated as well. I love the weight of this book and the premium paper used. Gorgeous. This is a great book for the Nightmare Before Christmas lover ... both young and old. Also, the Man-Eating Marshmallow Crispy Wreaths are delicious, easy to make and super cute!

Loved looking and reading through all the recipes. Pictures are beautiful and recipes look easy and fun to make. There's even a section for creating parties.. Christmas, Halloween and Birthday. Complete with making invitations, decorations, crafts, games and menu.

This would be cute for a children's themed or Halloween party. The first half is party recipes, nothing that could be of regular use, and the second half is decorations. Not what I expected it to be, so I was disappointed.

The introduction said there would be ideas for FIVE different parties but then the book only showed FOUR different parties? Halloween, Christmas, birthday, and summer BBQ? I thought the ideas for the parties were very cute but I will forever wonder what the fifth party may have been.

I liked that the recipes were labeled easy/medium/hard, and I mainly stuck with easy. I did swap out the meat in the shepherds pie for fake meat and then totally forgot to add peas. Recipes we tried this weekend were:
