I saw Disney Villains: Devilishly Delicious Cookbook at my local library and knew I had to borrow it.

This was great fun to read.

I loved the punny titles of the recipes (one of my favorites include Poor Unfortunate Rolls but I might be biased since Ursula is my favorite villain), which relates to the villain of the recipes, and I loved the fact that I would make most of these recipes.

Nearly all of the recipes had full color photographs and they were bright, almost lurid, and eye-catching.

Most of the recipes are easy, straight forward and take very little time to make.

Since I have a HUGE sweet tooth, I was VERY happy to see there were TWO dessert sections: cakes and pies and sweets and cookies.

This would make a great gift for a Disney fan or any young girl you want to steer away from Disney princesses and to the villains instead.

By the way, I forgot where Bald Mountain was and who the Chernabog was and had to Google it.

High-five to the author for including this less well known (to me) villain.

Disney Villains have taken over the kitchen in this devilishly delightful cookbook.

Sick of Disney Princesses? Want more Baddies? Want sweet treats and delightful dishes that compliment your favorite villains?

Divided into Seven sections, each course offers up the recipe, most with photos and a character tie-in.
This book is perfect for villains and Halloween fans.
Here are my personal favorite picks from each section, though the book does contain 50+ recipes.
Appetizers:
-Start off with Maleficents' Purple Deviled Dragon Eggs
Breakfast:
-Each of these are so pun-filled, it was hard to choose, but Hades' bipolar Underworld Smoothie divided between his chill blue flames and his raging fiery ones serves as a perfect start to the day.
-A close second favorite, SOLELY because it ties in with the character so well, is Lady Tremaine's Toast. I will say no more.
Salads and Sides:
-Madam Madam Mim's "HORRIBLY WHOLESOME SUNSHINE" Salad will brighten any witch or warlocks' day!
Main Courses:
-Though the ingredients for this could be labeled as a bank breaker, Mother Gothel's Hazelnut soup sounds delightful. No wonder Rapunzel likes it so much.

Cakes and Pies:
-Chernabog from Fantasia's Night on Bald Mountain Lava Cakes really does...well....take the cake.
*I'll be honest. I was kind of disappointed in these desserts.

Sweets and Treats:
-Evil Queen Grimhilde's Poison Apples are the winner by far here. Snow White couldn't resist these green caramel coated baked apples either.

Beverages:
-Off with her lid! The Queen of Hearts' Painting the Froze Red has to be the delectable spoon-scooping slurpee of Wonderland!

Why does the book only rate as a three....Honestly, the recipes are more of an "Homage" to the villains, though some do show off their villains' style and characters perfectly.
Many other villains including Jafar, Scar, Shere Khan, Gaston and more are featured. However, some of the recipes are SOOOOO complicated for even a seasoned chef or baker. Some of the ingredients...i.e. Magic Flower Salad or Gothel's Hazelnut Soup are VERY expensive and don't really provide alternatives. Almost all of the dishes while very smartly tied to their according villains, are almost all EXCLUSIVELY based on presentation and the characters' tie in. Other recipes seem thrown in as a way to LOOSELY incorporate an easy or complicated recipe with a character. There are several ELABORATE ones for Tamatao (the gold-crusted crustacean of Moana) which are crazy elaborate. There are others, such as Spinning Wheel potatoes (which is literally spiralized potatoes) that just seem haphazardly thrown in as an idea that was picked.

Maybe I'm a spoiled foodie or was expecting more literal recipes, but there are some creative ones, especially to the lesser-known villains.

Okay. This is the best cookbook if you love to host Villainous board game nights. This book not only has a variety of villain themed foods, but distinguishes separate breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack and dessert foods. Even if you don't get the chance to make all of these delicious recipes, the pictures sure look fun, tasty and inspiring.

Checked this cookbook out from my local library and glad I did. Everything in it is cute sounding but nothing that I would personally make. Happy got to go through and also happy didn’t spend the money on it.

The pictures, as with most Disney cookbooks, were stellar, the dishes were varied, and the instructions were clear and concise. I just feel like the recipes were a bit on the complex side, considering how many kids are probably going to want to cook this stuff.

As an "unusual" cookbook connoisseur, this one is...meh. I made one recipe or of it, and while it was good it wasn't amazing. Some children might enjoy a few of the recipes, but overall it's lacking
