After the New Green Ranger’s shocking decision, everything has changed for the Mighty Morphin team - and no one is safe!
WHO IS THE NEW GREEN RANGER?
After the New Green Ranger’s shocking decision, everything has changed for the Mighty Morphin team! Still reeling from this discovery of the Green Ranger’s true identity, the Mighty Morphin team must face a new threat with a secret connection to Zordon’s past...and the potential to destroy all their futures!
Superstar writer Ryan Parrott (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and rising star artist Marco Renna continue the UNLIMITED POWER era with the next shocking chapter of the story no one expected! Collects Mighty Morphin #5-8.
The rangers have to work together to break people out of a dome like zone made my Zodd's crazy ass. Badass fighting, new team member reveals himself, and a ending that is both sad but crucial to the plot makes this one of the most exciting Mighty Morphin arcs yet! 4.5 out of 5.
The secret's out, and the helmet comes off - who is the new Green Ranger? And what do he, Grace Sterling, and Promethea have to do with Lord Zedd's takeover of Angel Grove?
I wish the TV show had had more stories like this - the stakes are huge, the action's insane, and the twists come thick and fast. While the identity of the new Green Ranger was all but a foregone conclusion, Ryan Parrott uses it to set up some nice conflict in the team, as well as making sure that that's the least of the Rangers' worries when Lord Zedd invades.
I do like how Mighty Morphin' has managed to keep everything on Earth still feel really important despite the universe-destroying stuff going on over in Power Rangers. The new Rangers are slotting into the team nicely and I enjoy how Parrott has them coming to terms with their powers and their place in the team, plus he continues to use the Zords in new and exciting ways that the Sentai footage never really wanted to do in the original series.
More great stuff, and a surprisingly good counterpart to its sister title.
Kimberly is my icon, and I was so happy she just took charge and kicked ass in this volume! That’s pretty much all I cared about!
I do enjoy, just as I did in volume 1 that the series explores more of the lore of the rangers, and Zed’s and Zordon’s, etc. It gives the series a bit more then just teenagers beating up bad guys for no apparent reason! Which is fun!
The series is a fun nostalgic trip for me, having been a kid who loved Power Rangers (Especially Kimberly). It feels entertaining for that reason alone.
I still don’t enjoy the dynamic of the rangers however as it seems like they mostly just yell at each other, and argue. It feels less like a group of friends, which is sort of what the whole dynamic is built on originally. I think their dynamic, partnered with the lack of camp from the original show holds the series back from being really good.
Matthew's perspective! I like seeing the original characters introduced so many volumes ago getting more character development. This volume dives more into Zordon's backstory. Grace and Matt being "with the villains" leads to some interesting moral dilemmas.
The zeo crystal! Aisha is just such an awesome ranger. She's one of my favorites.
This is a great arc. It leaves the rangers in a really interesting place by the end of this volume. I'm excited to see more about the history of Eltar. I give this volume a 5/5.
I fell off this I guess after starting it a month ago, but the “bottle episode” feeling to this volume actually feels worth it since it moves enough characters around the growth chart that you feel like the Eltarian characters are fitting thematically into the whole tapestry finally. Rocky and Billy have some solid character beats, though for all the focus on Matt, I feel less connected to his narrative. Also a pretty solid example of a narrative thread and action beats that could work on tv, but feel a lot more suited to the heights of the visual possibility space in the comics.
This volume was really solid, diving into Matthew’s perspective of things in his new position. I also enjoyed the continued Eltarian storyline. The only knock on this one for me was that the story didn’t seem as complete as I felt it could have been. There didn’t seem to be much explanation as to why they were in the state they were in and why actions were being taken that way. This one just felt a little “because this is how it is” to me.
This is the second volume of the Mighty Morphin comic and it has the rangers fighting against Zed in order to keep the town of Angel Grove safe. However, some things aren't as they seem as the town seems to be okay within their little shield with Zed leading them. The rangers seem to be betrayed by the green ranger as he finally shows his face. Great read!
Read it in a couple hours on a rainy Saturday afternoon and really enjoyed.
Having enjoyed the first volume, I thought the series would begin to go downhill (as most series’ do) however this seems to be a rare occurrence where the second volume exceeds the first.
Bought for the artwork and a bit of nostalgia but the story has grabbed me. :) Will read on!
There is so much going on in this volume. We get a character reveal, a ton of action, and some nice plot twists along the way. It is wild to thing that this was only four issues worth of content. Parrott is pacing this excellently and the art accompanying the story is crisp with the big zords looking awesome!.
