Jared’s world is turned upside down after Luka hands over his pocket money to hire him as a friend for his lonely, widowed dad.

Jared is good at his job, but his soft heart means that he often finds himself in the weirdest of situations. A kind-of-threesome, a disappearing swan, and a destroyed hotel room are just the tip of the iceberg, but he is a popular boyfriend-for-hire and always in demand. He dreams of working as a family psychologist one day, and as his work with Bryant & Waites is funding his studies, the last thing he wants is to lose his job. At a make-or-break meeting, Jared vows to focus on being strictly professional. Still, almost immediately, he meets Luka sitting on the office steps with pocket money in hand and with a sadness that melts Jared’s resolve. Luka explains that his mom passed away some years ago, and his hardworking father needs a friend. Jared has no intention of taking Luka’s pocket money, but he wants to make Luka smile again, and if being hired as a friend for Luka’s widowed dad is what it takes, then he’s all in.

Being a single dad to eleven-year-old Luka is the best thing in Nate’s world, but add running a bar with long hours, and his work-life balance is screwed. There’s certainly no time for relationships, and even though Luka worries about his dad’s love life daily, romance is the last thing on Nate’s agenda. Owning Rhea’s Bar and keeping his head above water is second only to his love for Luka. His entire world consists of his son and the bar until Jared stumbles into his life. Even though Nate won’t admit it, he’s lonely, and Jared is the first friend he’s made in a very long time. Could their friendship become something more?

Sweet romance although it all happened a bit quick

There's zero angst in this, so if you're looking for a feel good, simple romance with no drama, it's a great read.

My main reason for not rating this higher is that the end felt a bit rushed, like all of a sudden they had to get together and be a couple.

But, it's not supposed to be an overly complicated romance either, so it fitted.

I liked both Jared and Nate and Luka was an absolute delight. It's low to medium steam but very sweet.

I have only read the first book in this series but I was able to follow along so I'm guessing this could be a stand alone book.

Luka made this book for me, what a sweet kid!!! Jared and Nate, I liked them but I didn't love them. They just didn't get my heart beating fast and I found the book kinda slow. Don't get me wrong, it was a feel good book, it just didn't give me the feels, if that makes sense?

This writing duo and their Boyfriend for Hire series is one I know I can turn to for something relatively lighthearted and sweet, with a definite HEA. Jared once again fits the bill, this time with the addition of Nate’s incredibly adorable son Luka, who just wants to hire a friend to spend time with his dad.

Poor Jared has had a bit of a bad run lately with his boyfriend bookings, but he’s really not a bad guy…just maybe a bit too likely to let tears cause him to get into odd situations. His first encounter with Luka kicks things off, and my heart hurt with Luka’s story. That does however lead to Jared and Nate meeting, and while that first introduction might have been a little rocky, it does set off their friendship.

Their relationship develops at an easy pace, going from friends to eventually more without feeling rushed. The angst level is minimal, even when Nate finally finds out what Jared’s job is. The whole story is a nice, relaxed journey with two sweet, well-matched guys and is just the thing for any reader wanting something low-stress and a guaranteed happy ending.

Jared was a 4-star read for me, and is recommended for readers 18+ for adult language and sexual content.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the fourth book in the series and whilst you would understand some of the dynamics of the organisation – and to an extent, Jared's reputation – you can read this as a standalone and love it for sure.

I love the start of this book, where 11-year-old Luka tries to buy his widower dad, Nate, a date – and fate has it that he engages Jared for the role. Nate has no idea, just that his son seems happy when Jared spends time with them. As we get to understand what a good guy Nate is, and that his son and his bar, named after his wife, take up all his free time – but somehow Jared does manage to get under his skin.

This is such a sweet story, with some fun revelations from Jared as he explains how his degree helps him to determine what people are thinking, and also his behaviour towards Luka is really appealing. I liked how accepting Nate's father-in-law was of his choices, and how supportive he was in the business and with his grandson.

I highly recommend this as a cheery, sexy, and cute story, which will bring a smile to your face and warm your heart – what more could you want?

This was another sweet, sexy and fun read from these authors and I loved Jared’s story.
Jared is so lovely and such a caring man and so good for Nate. Nate is trying so hard to be a good parent to his son, Luka, after losing his wife, and meeting Jared is the best thing that could have happened to him as they are wonderful together. Luka is just adorable as the catalyst that causes Jared and Nate to meet and then trying to keep them together. This book was full of wonderful characters and I especially loved Jared’s flatmate Ethan who is such a quirky character and I can’t wait to read his story.
This was a sweet, feel-good story with some heat and I highly recommend reading it.
I was given an ARC of this book to review and this is my honest and voluntary opinion.

Heart strings are pulled when Luka seeks out Jared's help to be a friend to his dad to make him smile again. But the pocket change is not something Jared needs when his first connection with Nate sends sparks he cannot hide form. But can the widower open his heart and allow Jared into his life? Or will Jared not only win over Nate but Luka too? Simply adorable from the opening pages. With wonderful characters and a storyline that had moments of true laughter and moments of true love this was a great addition to a great series.

Such a delight to read! While it can't claim the title of my favorite in the series (Gideon is holding it strong) it's full of so much sweetness as to fill me with joy. I really enjoyed the way the characters developed and how they relate to each other. It made of a treat to read!

Jared is the fourth installment of this series and it's my favorite so far...and maybe of any other in the future. Because, you see, Jared, Luka and Nate were the absolute most charming and endearing characters RJ Scott has written in any of the Boyfriend for Hire books. Jared was the biggest softie, unable to see someone sad or crying. Luka wanted his father happy, even if that meant hiring a friend for him with every last penny of his savings. And Nate, his grief echoed through the pages, as did his complete love for Luka.

I laughed so much seeing Luka trying to steer his father's attention towards Jared, but Nate needed just a little bit of time before he healed enough to open his heart to someone again. As for Jared, it didn't take long for him to fall in love with both Luka and Nate.

Their story was so much fun, also because most of the secondary characters were supporting and pushing Nate towards Jared, too. I adored seeing them work through their feelings and their romance develop, especially because it was always obvious they were aiming for becoming a family unit of three, Luka and his emotions as important as the adults'.

This was pretty much a low angst book with just a few saddening moments. As a whole though, it was the sweetest, smile inducing and heart-warming story of finding the perfect family. I loved it!

Who can resist an 11 year old boy who just wants his Dad to be happy? Jared certainly can't!
This is such a sweet, loving story that I devoured in one sitting.
Jared is just what Nate didn't know he needed. Nate has struggled with all the responsibilities that come with single parenthood, running your own business and life. He has neglected his own needs for much too long. His son Luca decides to take matters into his own hands and hires Jared to be his dad's friend. Okay....now your heart can melt!
I loved everything about their journey towards their HEA!

Such a sweet story. Luka is trying to hire a boyfriend for his Dad to make him happy. Nate is trying to hold everything together after the death of his wife. Luka shows up at Bryant and Waites to hire one. Jared finds him and a story of soft love starts.
I do recommend to anyone needing a story about starting over and becoming more.

I adored Jared and his series of unfortunate dates! His soft heart got him in all sorts of scrapes, and then he meets Luka.

Luka is a sweet boy who is looking for a friend for his dad. With Jared though, he gets way more than that.

Nate works hard at his bar, and to be a good dad to Luka and that leaves no time at all for a social life or for that matter a love life!

Luka is the catalyst that brings Nate and Jared together, and the winding road to a relationship is cute, emotional and charming. The two men really need each other, though Jared doubts his place in Nate’s affection as Nate was previously married to Luka’s mom. The chemistry between them is lovely, and the delicate nature of Jared dating Nate with Luka along for the ride is so adorable that I loved the whole thing.

This is the fourth book in the series of Boyfriends for Hire, and each had been it’s own independent story, as well as revisiting some of the previous boyfriends. This is a delightful series with clever writing, charming relationships and joyful HEAs for everyone.

Highly recommended.

I was given free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Such a sweet and low angst story!

The Boyfriend for Hire series just keeps getting better and better. Jared is such a sweet character and his desire to help often gets him into unusual situations while doing his job as a boyfriend for hire. When eleven-year-old Luka wants to hire him to be his dad’s boyfriend, Jared’s not sure what to do. After Jared meets Nate, Luka’s dad, he knows that he can’t say no to what Luka wants him to do.

Nate’s a single dad who has to juggle being a parent to Luka and running the bar that he owns. His now deceased wife used to help keep things in order but now everything is up to him to take care of. He really hasn’t taken time for himself in way too long. When he finds Jared with his missing son, he is shocked and wary. Once things are explained he then lets himself take a closer look at Jared and likes what he sees.

Jared and Nate don’t exactly strike sparks off of each other immediately but there is definitely an attraction between them. I love how caring Jared is towards Nate’s situation as a single dad and how he doesn’t talk down to Luka or make fun of him for wanting to hire a friend for his dad.

One of my favorite scenes in the book is when Nate, Luka and Jared are eating ice cream. Why? Because I do this to! 😊

With a sigh, Nate pressed down the ice cream as it melted. He raised his shoulders. He felt as if someone were watching him. He turned his head to find Jared grinning at him. “What?”
Jared stirred his spoon. “Always got told by my brothers I was weird for pretty much turning my ice cream into an extra thick milkshake any time we had it at home.”
Nate stared down at the creamy goop swirled in the bottom of his dish.

Jared is one of the sweetest MM stories I’ve read in a while. It proves that a book doesn’t always have to include a lot of hot and steamy sex to be a great read. I’m looking forward to reading Felix and Ethan’s story.

A copy of this book was provided to me at my request but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

This book will put a smile on your face, a warm glow in your body and you cannot help but to fall in love with these guys.
Jared works as a boyfriend for hire for a high-end agency. He has a habit of getting into situations that get him into trouble with his boss. Though it is always due to his huge caring heart.
Nate is a single Dad to his Son Luka (approx. 10 years old). Since losing his wife 4 years ago, there are only two things that matter to him in life. His Son Luka and the bar he runs named after his wife. He struggles to juggle being a single Dad and dealing with everything that owning and running a bar entails.
Then there is Luka a ten-year-old young man. And oh my gosh he is so adorable and loving, as well as sneaky.
Luka knows his dad is lonely. So, having seen an advert for Boyfriends for hire, he sneaks off to the agency where Jared works with the intention of hiring a boyfriend for his Dad.
When Jared meets Luka outside the office and finds out what Luka is, therefore, his caring nature kicks in and he knows he must make sure Luka gets home safely, and inadvertently gets hired by Luka for a couple of Dollars.
Nate gets a call from his neighbour as Luka has gone missing, he instantly drops everything at the bar and goes searching for Luka. Only to see him with a stranger. Obviously, you can imagine what goes through nates mind. Once Jared explains to Nate, he was just making sure Luka got home safely after finding him outside his office. Nate and Luka invite him to join them for a burger.

If I have read something heavy, I know to see what these two authors have been up to. The characters have excellent development, leaving us with a fun read and a great story to curl up with for the afternoon.

The blurb is pretty clear about the plot, and I will add that although I have read two of the other books in this series, I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything important. This could definitely be read as a standalone. Jared is obviously a good guy who doesn't always know when his good intentions are going to get him in trouble at work. However, when eleven year old Luka shows up trying to hire a friend for his dad, Jared can't help but take the boy home safely.

Enter Nate, Luka's dad. A widower of about four years, working himself to death and trying to make the best of it for his boy. He's been avoiding life, until his up-to-now good son shows up with a strange man. One thing leads to another, and Nate decides he might be ready to make a new friend.

Grief is a fickle thing, and sometimes it just decides that you are allowed to be happy. Jared is a very smart, caring, and intuitive young man, and he could be just the thing that allows Nate to live life again.

With very little angst, this story will definitely brighten your day. I read a lot of darker books, and it's always nice to know there is a team of writers I can depend on to lighten the mood. An excellent, sweet and sexy romance between a man with a huge capacity for love, and a father and son that have kept each other together through loss and love.

Happy reading!

Writing a review is always difficult because I want to just blurt it all out. I refrain from doing so by backspacing and starting again so...here I go for the 2nd try.
I absolutely adore Luka! He is a great kid with only his dad's best interests at heart.
Jared is a brainy, hottie patattie...yes it's a word. I love how he handles his first encounter with Luka.
Nate....such a wonderful dad. Lonely yes, but not ready to let go of the past quite yet.
How Nate and Jared meet are all thanks to Luka...sneaky little dude.
These three make a great family. The character are serious, funny, and endearing in turns.
Nate and Jared are SO hot together.
Such a wonderful story that I wasn't able to put it down til I was done.
Shout out to Pops for just being him, you'll understand once you read this story.
The authors did a great job bringing all the characters to life and give us the chance to learn to love them and root for them.
I received an Advanced Readers Copy for my honest opinion of this book.
Do yourself a huge favor.....
Buy it. Read it. Fall in love with the characters.

Jared is the fourth book in the Boyfriend for Hire series. This RJ Scott and Meredith Russell gem is easily enjoyed as a standalone. And oh, how I adore every moment of it.

This story pulled me in immediately, with the adorable Luka trying to hire a boyfriend for his father.

First, I have to say that I absolute love every moment with Luka. He's cute, he's funny, and he's so damn innocent.

As for his father, Nate is a man devoted to raising his son. He's still grieving his wife a little and has no thoughts of moving on.

Until he meets Jared.

I love these guys together. Their meet cute is sweet. The differences between them is fabulous, and I enjoy the age gap. But it's the natural connection that develops that makes everything so special. And the heat between them is sizzling.

Jared is a tender tale of taking chances and allowing love back into your life. The authors delight in this beautiful story of second love. I love every single moment of this gem! Definitely check it out the next time you're in the mood for a feel good romance.

Oh my goodness but Luka stole my heart. I’m absolutely voting him for favourite child character in a book in 2021. His father, Nate, struggled realistically with moving on after the death of his spouse. His turmoil was heartfelt and drew me to him.

And Jared. Even though very little of this book actually had to do with the day-to-day realities of his job (other than the disasters he kept experiencing), Jared quickly became one of my favourite Boyfriends for Hire. His earnestness, and his constant study of human beings to discover their motivations, etc. were endearing.

As readers have come to expect from a Scott/Russell collaboration, expect snappy dialogue, lots of heartwarming moments interspersed with hot times and sympathetically created secondary characters. Their representation of family life is humorous and real.

I was given a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

This is a sweet, low angst family romance. When a young boy attempts to hire Jared as a boyfriend for his father, Jared doesn’t expect to fall hard for the handsome single dad.

After his wife’s death, gentle, charming Nate has buried his loneliness while balancing parenthood with running a business. Nate is guarded and careful but Jared is hard to resist. Graduate student Jared is not only gorgeous, he’s kind and observant.

Nate’s son, Luka is at the heart of this story. Pursuing Nate, Jared takes on a family, not a man. The result is a low heat romance that feels more adorable than sexy. It’s not a perfect fit for me as a reader and not my favourite book in the series so far. I do know that many readers will absolutely love Jared and Nate’s story.

Oh my heart, what a sweet story!! Jared is going to college, finishing up his degree and working as a “boyfriend for hire”, to accompany people when they need a date. Nate is a widow with a young boy who has been his focus since his wife’s death. Luka just wants his dad to be happy again, so he tries to get a boyfriend for hire but he doesn’t have enough money. You must read to see how Nate and Jared find their way with a little help from Luka!! Seriously this book was so good, sweet, with laughter and fun. I couldn’t stop reading!! I loved their dynamic, how they included Luka and how understanding Jared is to never forgetting Nate’s late wife/Luka’s mom! Sweet love story!!

A Sweet No Angst Slow Burn Romance

I have enjoyed all the previous books in this series and this one also hit the spot. A feel good romance which started when a gorgeous little boy Luka wanted his dad Nate, a widower, to be happy and smile again and so he went to hire his dad a boyfriend because his dad was bri-sextual😂
Jared found Luka sitting on the steps of the building where he works as a boyfriend for hire and Luka hires him and makes Jared take his pocket money because they have a “contract”
Of course the chemistry is there when Nate and Jared meet and they fall in love and Jared gives Luka his pocket money back!
A sweet, no angst love story where Luka stole the show.

This is the fourth book in the series and my new favorite. This is such a cute story. I loved Jared and Nate. Plus add in little Luka. I'm a huge fan of this series, but single dad romance is my jam. With everything I'm dealing with right now this make you feel good story was exactly what I needed. It made me forget about my worries and heartbreak and filled my heart with happiness. Luka is the sweetest thing wanting to surprise his day for his birthday which turns out to be the event that sets his family on a new path. This book has all the feels, but Jared and Nate have such great chemistry. They're so adorable together. This is a must read!

This author duo does not disappoint. The "Boyfriends for Hire" series just keeps getting better.

I loved this story. Jared is kind of a hot mess, but has a heart as big as all outdoors, Nate has thrown himself into work and taking care of his son (Luka) since the passing of his wife. Luka is very well written and knows just how to turn on the "puppy dog eyes" to get to Jared... LOL!

This is a lovely, low angst, story of sometimes finding what you didn't even realize you desperately need and grabbing on with both hands. There is always a HEA with this author duo, so no stress there.

As part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone, but why in the world would you want to do that? Grab book 1 (Darcy) and get started! If you follow my reviews, you know a adore books that make me "feel". This book was a perfect feel-good book, especially after the last year.

Absolutely Adorable!!

This is such a sweet story about a son who wants to help his dad get a date so he's not lonely anymore. I loved seeing Jared and Nate become closer as the story goes on. I think Luka is the star of this book and loved seeing him be sneaky to get his dadcamd Jared to send more time together. This whole series is amazing and I can't wait to see what comes next.

So sweet

This book is full of the feels, so many emotions, it will definitely tug your heartstrings! Jared and Nate are really great characters who connect quickly but take things slowly until love become inevitable and their HEA is sweetly satisfying. Other characters helped enhance the storyline - I adored Luka, Pops was great, and Ethan was entertaining.
I would definitely recommend this book and I look forward to the next one.

Very charming from the start. Even apart from the delightful and unselfishly-loving Luka, the MCs were lovely, kind men who deserved the best - and together! I liked the fact that Jared's job didn't cause unnecessary conflict between them, but that they talked it through. And their relationship had plenty of sparkle of attraction, but moved at a realistic pace, considering the grief Nate was still processing. Lovely read.

This author just might not be for me. The kid aspect of wanting his dad to be happy after the mom died many years ago was cute but the relationship development was lacking. It doesn’t necessarily have the insta love feel but the characters basically go from barely being together to saying I love you right at the end after maybe being together a few months. I know that’s possible IRL but I prefer some development in my reads.

This is the fourth book in the Boyfriend for Hire series. I have really enjoyed this series and this book was no exception. Having a child in this series was an interesting twist that I loved. It enabled some wonderfully touching moments. The characters are extremely lovable and the pace was spot on. I had a hard time putting the book down. I can’t wait for the next installment.

Jared is a sweet, emotional book that deals with grief, starting over and friendship. Lua wants his dad to be happy and decides to hire a boyfriend for his dad. Jared is a college and works for the company that hires him to be a boyfriend for hire and he turns Luca down. But the moment he sees Nate he attracted to him and vice versa. The book is sweet, romantic, funny, some angst, and once I started I couldn't put it down.
