Joe and Rob live it up with the ZomBots in this eleventh adventure in the hilarious Bots chapter book series.
Many years ago, scientists on Earth sent video satellites out to the end of the universe to see what was hiding in deep space. Now, years later, these satellites have begun sending their first videos back to Earth...and the stars of the show are two goofy robots.
Joe and Rob think they are ready for the Scare Dare Contest, but when they accidently read aloud a magic spell that calls the ZomBots, the two best friends must face off against a really creepy crowd!
With easy-to-read language and graphic novel art on almost every page, the Bots chapter books are perfect for emerging readers.
It is Scare Dare Day and Joe Bot's mom is frustrated because she can never manage to scare Joe on Scare Dare Day. Joe is sad he disappointed his mom, so he and Rob go out to see if they can get scared. Strange things are sure going on all around town, and though readers may realize this, Joe and Rob seem oblivious. Will they realize that ZomBots are taking over the time before it is too late?
There's an unexpected twist to the end of this. The holiday seems to be a combination of April Fools' Day, Halloween, and Pi Day. And the scariest thing in here ends up Joe's mom's determination. (You do not want to mess with that bot!) There are robots that look a bit worse for wear all over the place saying 'Brains,' but only the most sensitive of readers will likely be scared. They are all robots, after all. Not my favorite Bots book, but not my least favorite either, and the author gets definite points for creativity and being able to surprise me with the ending. Hand this to littles who think they want a scary story but may not be ready for anything truly scary.
Notes on content: Robot zombies saying brains chasing others. There are fights over pie. Everyone ends up totally fine.
A children's graphic novel. The bots have a holiday called Scare Dare Day. Joe's mom is obsessed with trying to scare him, but he never gets scared. Then some stolen pies start turning everyone in town into zombies, a fact which Joe and his friend Rob don't notice for awhile.
