Meh. I’ve realized that I don’t like manga that involve sports, as I tend to find most sports boring and couldn’t care less about the outcome of the games. Though I am glad that the obviously stronger team won and it wasn’t a “love conquers all” thing. I’m also not really onboard for the love story. I guess I’ve finally gotten over the high school love shojo.

3, only a few more volumes to go thank goodness, stars.

I was going to give this a three, but I loved how Aya told his mother that he was aware that his "love" for Mitsuki wasn't actually healthy for either of them. That's the sort of self-awareness we need in more romance stories, manga or otherwise.

Thank God they didn't win, tho.

Para finalizar la reseña, voy a dejar las dos páginas que más me hicieron sufrir de todo el manga 🤡 my baby Aya deserved way better.

3.5 de 5 estrellas.

The ending of this book was everything! Mitsuki finally admits to Towa that she likes him, as well as having the love triangle come to an end. Another thing I loved was Ren, absolutely loved him and I wish we got more of him in the books. I also liked that in this volume we get a deeper look on how Mitsuki feels for the two and why she is having a hard time saying no to one of them. There is also moments where Towa is discussing why he isn’t jealous or upset that Mitsuki is with Aya, which shows how good he is. And Aya, he was great in this book as well for he really looked at Mitsuki’s perspective of her relationships with him and Towa and realized she liked Towa. So, he helped her become okay with how their relationship is going to change now that he is no longer pursuing her and will soon be moving. Overall, I really enjoyed this volume because it did an amazing job of bringing the characters together and show how they are becoming confident with themselves.

Overall manga review:

A great series with unconventional yet super fun friendships. The character dynamics were great and there were many hilarious and embarrassing moments.

The romance was well-written but never balanced between the two male love interests. The protagonist clearly loved the main love interest only. The second male love interest, who just so happened to be the protagonist’s childhood friend, was extremely pushy and forceful. His every advance was evaded and unwanted yet he still seemed to think it was okay to pursue the protagonist. At one point she outright told him to stop but due to seem weird aggressive competitiveness between the two male love interests, which likened the protagonist to some possession to be fought over or some game to be won, he continued.

The sports element of this manga was refreshing to see and I liked that it was given just as much importance as the romance. I liked that the games weren’t predictable, but in the end the match that mattered between the two male love interests didn’t at all go to plan in a way that made it all feel so unfinished. I’ll admit it got a bit tiresome seeing all the characters take the basketball so seriously like it was life and death to the point that the protagonist was not only understanding but also expecting the main love interest to love basketball more than her.

Aside from some weird and questionable aspects this was a great and enjoyable shojo romance/sports manga!

L O V E !

lol that’s the review.

jk jk! this was so good, and ended at such a good point! i was a bit on my toes the whole way though because we’re at the point where Mitsuki has to choose and confess her feelings because two cuties are head over heels for her.

So, Aya… i’ve never been a fan of him because he’s alllwaayyss throwing himself at Mitsuki regardless of her being uncomfortable about it. and poor Mitsuki is just trying to be so king and inclusive and be friends with Aya and make sure he has a friend and is happy regardless of how crap he is. but finally, FINALLY, he respected her decision and stopped trying to force the love connection he wished she had. THANK YOUUU! he’s not bad, he just doesn’t take no for no.

This volume isaction packed with the tournament and hits the heart a bit. Anashin is skilled at letting the panels not only speak for themselves, but also allowing the reader to read between the lines, so to speak. I love this series. It's so sweet and endearing, and I want everyone to win, but that's not how life works. Looking forward to volume 12.

This was so full of tension!! The ending really made it worth it though (as it it usually does).

The character development is really perfected in this one. Most of the characters are different people than who they were to begin with.

The overall story is really coming to its climax. The ending is sort of tricky, because it lulls you (or at least me) into 'this is okay' when it's not quite done yet.

The art style is my favorite. It's gotten a little sketchy-er but one of the author's notes said that they were working long nights and struggling with deadlines. Even so, I really thought it added to the overall atmosphere.

You could really stop reading the series here, if you wanted. But as there is one more book, I'm going to read that one too!

3.5 ⭐️

Her choosing to go with Aya instead of sticking with Towa infuriated me, especially then seeing the scene with Towa back inside the restaurant. And then what AYA had to force out of her because she still couldn’t admit her feelings? I do understand she just didn’t want to hurt anyone and this is her first real chance at strong feelings for anybody. But damn, she ended up hurting people more by waiting. It’s just aggravating. I still love her character and her growth, but I hate the back and forth. The ending did make me smile though and now I have very hopes for vol 12.

So Aya and Towa are getting even more competitive over Mitsuki here, and she is just going along with it. I don't like them making her a prize, but I also feel like if she didn't want to date either she would say that soooo...
Aya sees how he was being kinda selfish by the end as well so that's a plus as well.
I did enjoy seeing the game in this volume, and seeing at least some of the friendships.

The big game is finally here! There is a little drama at the end of the game (shoujo classic heh), but at least there is progress on this love triangle relationship!

Anyway! It was a pretty solid basketball play (considering this isn't a sports manga). The game flow and player motion is not too stiff (great job Anashin-sensei!). There are characters growth, mostly on Towa's and Aya's side. Can't see any development from Mitsuki's side (c'mon girl you can do much better, Aya is helping you again... sigh).
Undeniably, this series is nearing its end. And I'm ready to close the last sheet of this sweet sweet sweet story in the next two volumes! See ya!

Cheers~

“Thinking about Asakura-Kun makes me feel like I can try anything”
This volume starts with towa having a bad dream during New Year’s Eve. He dreams about his team losing against Hojo and he goes to practice the next day even if he’s not supposed to do it. Winter break is over and now they have to play. They need to win 3 games before playing against aya and he’s determined to do it. Since that confession, Mitsuki has been avoiding towa and he’s not at this best during the game. Reina believes he might be like that because of Mitsuki and he goes to talk to him. She was embarrassed but she wanted to prove to him that she wasnt ignoring him and she wants to be there for him.
Later on, they celebrate a party at the café the day before the big game. Rui wants nana to sign his wristband because he believes that way he’ll feel connected to her. Towa got his wristband signed by Mitsuki and she’s about to life because it might snow. He wants to walk her home but aya is out there waiting to see her face. He asks towa for permission to be the one walking her home but he needs to talk with Mitsuki as well. He gives her back the wristband. He believes she needs time and space to think about aya and her feelings. His won’t change but he knows Mitsuki needs time and he doesn’t want to be on her way. She leaves with aya and nana thinks he should go after her but he believes it’s not what Mitsuki needs. She met aya when she was a kid and thought he was a girl and then years later they got reunited and she found out that her best friend was a guy. He thinks she needs time to choose and to know what she truly wants. Nana believes he must really like her. The next day they are getting ready for the game and Mitsuki wrote the same text to everyone wishing them luck. Rui thinks that’s a bad sign and maybe she got with aya. She shares what happened the night before with the girls. She walked aya home instead and told her dad to pick her up at the station. She’s tired of everyone looking after her and she wants to be there for aya. She doesn’t want him getting a cold and she prays for him, for towa, and for the game. She wants ayas leg to heal and to be fine and she wants towa to play as hard as he could. Aya goes after her because she’s crying. She feels weak and useless because she’s hurting aya. She’s in love with Towa and he knows it. He tells her that no matter what hell always be there for her. He was waiting for towa to get stronger but she doesn’t want to sit and wait, she wants to be brave to be with him. Towa is the person she needs and he helped her a lot during all this time. Aya is happy but he still doesn’t like Towa as much. He asked Mitsuki not to tell towa anything before the game and wait until it s over just for him. Hojo is winning but in the end, towa decides to give his best and it’s not enough. He gets in an accident trying to help Aya and he faints and misses the last 10 minutes. They lost by 8 points but they gave Hojo a hard time. Aya realizes that maybe the way he loved Mitsuki wasn’t the healthiest and he needs to get better since he doesn’t understand how love works. He might go to America with his dad and one day he’ll come back. Towa is at the nursery and she tells him about the game. Everyone was cheering for them and they almost won. Aya finds that infuriating because towa is too soft and he was looking after his well being. Mitsuki is there and she called towas grandpa and he’s on his way to pick him up. Everyone is leaving now and they think the team was great. Mitsuki is crying and she gives towa his wristband back. She wants him to wear it at the next game (they still have two left) because she’s able to tell him that she likes him finally.
Honestly I was not expecting to like this volume but it was really good and emotional. I still don’t like aya but I tolerate him now. He’s arrogant and cruel sometimes but I like how he handled the Mitsuki stuff and how he knew that he had already lost to towa. I also like how Mitsuki wanted to do things for herself (joining the welcome party committee, being the manager and helping Soda)… I think it was so nice to see her growing and realizing that she needs to put herself out there in order to get what she wants. Also I love towa. How patient he is and how he understands Mitsuki and knows what she needs and wants, even if she doesn’t. He’s always looking out for everyone and I love his relationship with the rest of the guys. I think overall this was a great volume, full of emotions and cute moments and I can’t wait to read the next one

I shipped Mitsuki with Aya but then I read vol. 10, I started to ship her more with Towa or Rui. Towa is really changing but that scene at the end of their game made me think that he’s too nice, just like the girl he likes is. Who does that? There’s a difference between being selfless and being stupid.
Now that I mention that, I also have to talk about when Mitsuki volunteered to be the committee leader because Sudo didn’t want to did it and she also had basketball practice. Which on the surface seems really nice of her but to me she just seems too nice. It’s getting really annoying. She’s become a stereotypical shojo main girl. Which I thought weren’t as common anymore. Unfortunately that’s not the case😑 Would it kill her to get angry once in a while or show some kind of personality other innocent and selflessness? In the beginning she was kind of relatable to me (being shy and hard to make friends) and she had the potential to be a great character. I liked her growth in the past few volumes like trying to get out of her comfort zone and joining a group for something but in this volume it just feels like she’s doing it because she feels obligated to do that. In vol. 10 and this volume she started to annoy me with being like the typical 90s and early 2000s lead. She also keeps saying that she wants to change and be more helpful to her friends, which is getting repetitive, this is vol. 11, not vol. 3!😒 Stop saying that the character wants to change and actually make her more independent.

While I was annoying with Aya in vol. 10 and in some of these chapters, I was surprised that he was so understanding considering how pushy and manipulative he was being before. The mangaka has stated that her favourite character is Aya because he’s similar to her but I’m not as big a fan of him as I used to be.

I was going to rate this book 3 stars because Mitsuki was being so flip floppy for so long. It really annoys me when characters are like this. Just pick one guy already! We know who you really like and so do you! Thankfully she finally realized who she really likes and told them both and the basketball games were fun too, so those are the reasons why I raised my rating.
