Rob Kearney: No Hiding – My Autobiography

Rate this book
From as young as he can remember, Rob Kearney had a burning desire to make the number 15 shirt his own. He not only did that but over the course of an epic career he became Ireland’s most decorated rugby player. Behind the number there is another story. Of a family tragedy. Of a young man learning the code of the professional dressing room. Of fortune and friendship away from the glare of the lights. Of fearless coaches and inspirational leaders. Of taking risks and reaping rewards – and paying the price. Of a body pushed to its very limits in pursuit of the prize. There is no hiding place for a full back on the rugby pitch. This is a fascinating portrait of the man behind the legend and a powerfully honest account of what it takes to thrive at the elite level of one of the world’s toughest sports.

Great read, and a lot more serious compared to Marler and Haskell. Kearney is without a doubt one of Irish Rugby's greatest, and one of the best full backs to have ever played. Sad to see his time in green is over. The book offers a great insight on Kearney, how serious he took the game and the jersey. An absolute must read!

despite only 3 stars I did still enjoy this, is irish rugby player autobiographies on audiobook my new niche?

I will say it lacked flow, felt very jumpy at parts somuch so i thought the book was recorded out of order. I always enjoy hearing about their upbringings and this one was heartbreaking due to his brother however I did love how he continued to talk about and honour him throughout

Struggled for over a month and a half trying to finish this book. No real flow to it at all. Jumped from one thing to another with no real warning.

It is great to read an autobiography where I finish it and really like the person RBI’s about. That was the case with Rob. The fact that I have supported him in an Ireland and Leinster jersey and remember many of the games he talked about really helps too.

Many of those things but not all I cannot say about my last book I read, Roy Keane’s autobiography!

Thank you Rob for all the memories and a really good read too. It gave me a better understanding of what being a successful rugby player has to go through.

As opposed to many, I was always a Rob Kearney fan when he was a player. But I'm not a fan of this book.

The writing is nice enough, but it seems to follow no chronological order and is extremely repetitive!

Lagged a bit at times, a standard bio. As a player I admired him a great deal though. He deserved every accolade he received.

Brilliant. Finally got around to reading it. On my TBR for a bit. Definitely a 5 star book.

One word. Kearnage. Seems like a good guy, nothing too interesting but bit awkward how much he glazes Larmour only for him to be pretty mid

A good read, not many controversial revelations but some interesting insights. Kept me interested.
