A book that did not capture my attention until chapter 22; it's only 29 chapters. It's a cozy mystery but not as appealing to me because there's no activity & the conversations drag on slowly and boringly.

Rachel Prince mysteries is a fun, intriguing series. This is the best one yet. Set aboard a ten-day cruise, a mystery is planned to spread over a few nights. One of the actors is dead, so now Rachel and Marjorie are dealing with a fake murder mystery and a real one. Loved the banter and the wild situations they get into. When the murderer is threatened, they start to go after Rachel and her friends, which just gets her more determined. Love the unique characters and the backstories surrounding them. What a great venue for this type of mystery. Loved it.

Another entertaining cruise with Rachel and friends. This time there is a murder mystery theatre troupe on board. Lots of suspects and red herrings. First up is whether there was actually a murder or just a natural death. Love the banter between all of the characters. Always a good mystery and lots of fun.

Not in my top thirty but more like a 3.750 on ratings scale. Good plot with a round about way to the end.

Rachel and her friend Lady Marjorie are back on board the Coral Queen for a cruise to Norway. This is the 8th book in the series and 8th cruise I have 'taken' with Rachel. I must admit this book helped a little with my 'Withdrawal symptoms' and with the situation at present it is over 12 month since my last cruise and I have had 3 cruises cancelled ! However with Dawn, her descriptions of the ship, food, drink and the venues on board it is easy for the reader to be 'On board' Dawn also takes cruises, her excuse is for research purposes ! Yes ok, my excuse I love them !
We join Rachel and Marjorie on board having a drink having checked in. Marjorie who has not been well wanted this cruise to help her with her recovery and takes Rachel with her. Marjorie declares to that she has booked a special package for entertainment, its a 'Murder Mystery' play which lasts for 5 evenings. This is the first time this kind of entertainment has been done on board. We meet up again with the usual friends and crew, Sarah a ships nurse, Jason her Fiancé, head of security Waverly and many more. Rachel and Marjorie share a table for dinner at they performances with a mother and daughter who have attended these events before with this company. The victim 'Dies' at the end of the act the first eve. Rachel and Marjorie thought he acted this well, The Mother and Daughter moaned because they did not do a curtain call as usual.
The only thing was that the actor who 'died' in the play on stage really did die ! The attendees to the play are allowed to question the actors, as they have to try to decide who committed the murder. This is where it becomes very interesting. Video equipment not working, other attempted murders. With Dawn you do get red herrings, once again they are in abundance !
Another highly recommended read.

Fans of murder mystery weekends will appreciate the subplot of this engaging mystery. This time the murder mystery is being presented as a play over the course of a few evenings during a 10-day cruise, and it doesn't take long before one of the actors falls over dead, literally. While the initial death is being investigated by all the witnesses present, Rachel Prince and her friend Marjorie soon find themselves investigating a death that clearly wasn't in the script. Sleuths and actors mingle on deck and inside a cruise ship so avid cruisers will be able to easily place themselves at Rachel's elbow as she searches for the killer who took advantage of a play to get rid of their victim for real.

This is the eighth Rachel Prince mystery but it is the first one of the series that I have read. I had a difficult time sorting my way through characters that readers of the first books are likely very familiar with. It was still an enjoyable mystery and I didn't manage to guess who did it so I was surprised along with everybody else at the identity of the murder. Having said that I was able to identify all the clues and the red herrings while I read, so the reveal wasn't a huge surprise. No loose ends were left over and the villain got what they deserved so everybody went home happy.

Heal your heart, take a cruise, we’ll have a good time, let us catch a fake murderer…..ooops... it wasn't fake 😉

“A Murder Mystery Cruise” by Dawn Brookes is exactly what it promises and refreshing so. A typical whodunnit, set in a cruise through the Norwegian Fjords. Lady Marjorie (you would love her, she is taxing, funny and everything in between) has a wonderful idea, just let us go into a cruise and attend to a couple of murder mystery parties, it will be so fun.

Rachel Prince is a police constable, nursing a broken heart, as her friend Sarah invites her to a cruise it seems like the perfect place to heal her heart. Once on board she becomes friends with Lady Marjory and there they go! Lady Marjorie and her faithful companion Rachel find themselves in the middle of solving a fake murder, as one of the guest turns out very dead, giving them a new chance to solve the real thing.

This is a very entertaining story, with wonderful description that transport the reader right into the boat, pursuing the evasive murderer along with the both heroines and having the time of his/her life in the process.

I found this to be a great story with great plot with a number of clues, a number of twists and exciting mystery that keeps you guessing. You also get two mysteries since is a mystery within a mystery thus we got a lot of entertainment there! Also the book can be read as a standalone even if its part of a series thus you can start reading it without reading the previous books.

As a personal opinion I was a little confused at times with the various names not only of the characters but of the characters that the actors were also playing in the Murder Mystery party as well (ie actor A played character B in the play etc) and this made it a little hard to keep track.

Other than the above, I would recommend it to mystery readers that are willing to stay focused on the story to solve the murders!

No one expects a murder to occur on a murder mystery cruise, at least not a real one, right? So much for that theory.

I have lost track of which number in the series this book it, but it doesn't really matter. Each book is written as a standalone, so no prior reading is required.

This is a murder mystery book set on a cruise ship. The story is well written and easy to read and populated with the usual cast of unusual characters. We sort of get a mystery within a mystery which is intriguing, with lots of twists and turns which keep you guessing and engaged. I enjoy this series using cruise ships as the setting. Overall, a very enjoyable book and I look forward to reading others in the series.

Highly recommended.

When Rachel Prince accompanies Lady Marjorie on a cruise to the beautiful Norwegian Fjords a murder mystery party turns deadly...

Don't worry, it's only a murder mystery cruise, there's no way a real murder will occur. Well that theory went out the window fast

Suspense, drama, mystery and of course murder captivate you and keep you engaged in the story line. The characters are fun and engaging and you love getting to know them as they work to solve the mystery. A great cozy mystery read for those who love mystery, suspense and a bit of humor added in.

Each book in the series can be read as a stand alone so no worries if you haven't read any previous books in the series.

Heart stopping

I, once again enjoyed reading about the characters that I have come to be fond of, since my first encounter with Rachel, Sarah, and Lady Marjorie. Unusual for me, I had an idea who the killer was, when it looked as though the murderer had accepted a situation when everything we had come to know about them, screamed out that they would not tolerate what was happening. I have only been on 4 cruises and would dearly love to go on more, once it is safe again to do so. This is another reason for my enjoyment of this series, as I get tantalising insights of the stopovers during each particular cruise.

A murder on the Cruise Again!

I was prepared to think it was going to be just a short book, someone would be killed, Rachel and Lady Marjorie would just happen to be on board and Ta Da, Rachel magically solves the case. Well everyone, I was correct to an extent but this book was way more interesting leading up to the first murder, the attempted second murder, solving of a way ole' case of murder and then the two more one successful and the other not murders. Yes, this definitely is a book I can hardly wait to let my friends begin reading in the morning and I am positive they will enjoy the writing as much as I did! Now on to Book 9!

When Lady Marjorie convinces Rachel to accompany her on another cruise, she is surprised that a Murder Mystery Cruise is chosen since they have had their share of real ones. However dead bodies seem to follow Rachel even when she's off-duty as fiction becomes reality when one of the actors actually die from the weapon scripted. Unluckily for the murderer, with a real detective on board, instead of deterring her with attempts made on those she cares about, it makes her even more determined to identify the culprit.

A Murder Mystery Cruise is the eighth book in the Rachel Prince Mystery series and is an entertaining cozy mystery.

I can't wait to go on another cruise. Hopefully there won't be any dead bodies on mine though. Join the fun as Rachel and Lady Marjorie try to find a real murderer during a murder mystery cruise. I love this series and this story.

This was a fun read. A murder mystery troupe was onboard. During the opening night, the actor playing the role of to-be-murdered character was actually murdered. The usual cast was then charged with finding the real murderer while pretending to continue to investigate the ongoing play.
It had the usual cast of characters and the usual drama and attempted murders. A quick read, it was a nice edition to this series.

This is the 4th book I've read written by Dawn Brookes; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

Cracking good yarn!

Another delightful outing for Rachel and Lady Marjorie. Enough fun and laughter mystery and intrigue to satisfy any fan of cozy crime. This volume has some delightfully ironic twists, and enough likeable minor characters and unpleasant would be villains to keep the reader happy and guessing. I would heartily recommend it.

An interesting take on a murder mystery. Rachel is reluctantly convinced by her friend Marjorie to take part in a 5 night murder mystery game on their cruise to Scandinavia. On the first night, the fake murder becomes very real. It takes Rachel, the security team and another game participant all their wits to solve the murder.

As always with this series, I wish there was more description of cruise port sights. Still, it was an interesting case and I like that Marjorie is a very mature participant in the detection. By the time this series is over, there will have been more murders and/or attempted murders on the Coral Queen than in Cabot Cove or Lockdubh.

Rachel and Lady Marjorie are back aboard the Coral Queen for a cruise around Scandinavia. Unknown to Rachel, Marjorie has signed them up for a murder mystery over the first five nights. On the first night, one of the actors is killed for real, and of course Rachel and Marjorie stick their noses in.

Now this cruise would be a gas. Murder Mystery dinner theater immersion for five days while cruising Norwegian fjords. You can interview the cast members throughout the day but Rachel needs to dig a little deeper.
