Coldplay’s warm and infectious hit song “Strawberry Swing” finds a perfect vessel in this gentle picture book for children.
"I rememberWe were walking up to strawberry swingI can't wait till the morningWouldn't wanna change a thing..."
Strawberry Swing is a tenderly illustrated picture book of one of Coldplay’s best known songs. It was the fifth single released from their hit album Viva la Vida, and gained widespread acclaim for its accompanying stop-motion animation music video.
With lyrics by Coldplay and illustrations by Mitch Miller, Strawberry Swing tells a sweet story of friendship, encapsulating the innocence, fun, and struggle of finding someone special—and wanting to share every moment with them. The book provides an excellent opportunity to introduce Coldplay’s irresistible melodies to children who will delight in both the music and the message.
Strawberry Swing by Coldplay is another excellent addition to the LyricPop series of children's books. Combining song lyrics and illustrations for children is a wonderful idea and I have been impressed with all of the ones I have seen.
To the extent that there is a story here, it will likely make adults ponder what happened. But so what! Children hearing the story read to them, or reading it themselves, will simply experience happiness at two friends being reunited.
As I've commented on past reviews and to friends, these books offer a wonderful opportunity to read to a child, show the pictures and enjoy that aspect, and introduce them to the songs. A chance for bonding over several different things and the bonding is perhaps the most important part of picture books for kids.
Recommended for parents and/or as gifts. I also would imagine a Coldplay fan would want it simply because it is Coldplay, so another gift idea.

I had no idea this LyricPop series existed until I was looking for new Coldplay stuff from the library and saw this listed. It's a very simple picture book about two friends sharing a swing over the lyrics of the song. The song is pretty simple so the story is as well. I was excited though when I got to the back and saw all the other songs in this series. Can't wait to hear a Pixies song put to a children's book.
I Reviewed a copy made available by the publisher via Edelweiss - Thank you very much for that!
The idea of designing a children's book from a song is a really creative idea to make reading or reading aloud playful and interesting and also offers access to music.
The illustrations are wonderful, they are very simply designed so that a child would understand what this is about and therefore very kid-friendly.
Strawberry-Swing offers us a child-friendly introduction to the subject of friendship and the course of life and makes it clear that one should enjoy every moment
