Even though I think it's labelled as a "children's book", it was really interesting to read, even as a teen

The oldest book I can remember owning. This was the first book I've ever had, to my knowledge.

I stumbled across this book in my local book shop and couldn't resist it.

It is a factual book which helps readers explore the furthest reaches of our universe. It helps the reader to understand how it began and where Earth is placed among the stars. This book includes double page spreads of the Big Bang, how the first suns and planets were formed and our very own solar system.

This book imparts knowledge in small, bite-sized pieces, and includes flaps that you lift in order to discover more. My 6 year old daughter loved looking through this book and really enjoyed the interactive element of the book. Younger children won't even realise that they are learning whilst having fun.

My favourite part of the book is the map of the stars, season by season. It is truly amazing how easy it is to spot the different constellations when you know what you are looking for!

There are many other books in this series e.g. See Inside Science and See Inside Your Body.

A very tactile book, ‘with over 50 flaps to lift and a little book of star maps’ to enthuse. Probably more suited for lower KS2, it takes the reader through a journey of space and all its wonders. It starts with the big bang; tells the story of how we know what we know, our galaxy, our solar system, space travel, before finishing on stargazing. The book couples science with a little history in a cohesive format. It has fun illustrations to keep the reader engaged and plenty of interesting facts to ‘wow’ the reader. The map of stars enclosed at the end of the book finishes the experience off nicely encouraging the reader to gaze the skies on a clear night in search of constellations.

Excellent basic science book about space. Nice illustrations and explains concepts well. My son loves finding and lifting all the little flaps, and it led to him asking some tough questions too, which is great. Only complaint is sometimes the print is difficult to read against the dark blue background.
