There were plenty of topics to be explored but unfortunately they stayed unexploited.
The pace varied, it was either too fast or too slow.
In general, the story felt rushed, underdeveloped and didn’t have depth.
While there were bigger themes that should have been developed, there were paragraphs with unnecessary details that were not that interesting.

Fake Fiance is a touching second chance romance by the talented Amy McKinley. I absolutely loved this story and could not put it down. I had this desperate craving to read in one go. The way the story captured my attention was relentless and unforgiving. And I was in literary heaven!!!! The unfolding of the story was heartwarming, breathtaking and totally mesmirising. Adeline and Stone were a power couple who had attraction, chemistry and fascination running between them. The complexities between these two were endearing and very entertaining. The awkwardness, the attraction, the irresistible pull toward each other, as well as the level of familiarity packed quite the punch. Reading this book was incredible and the memories of Adeline and Stone unforgettable. 5 stars.

This book was surprising to say the least but you can tell their chemistry set the pages on fire in this read. It was easy to read, fast paced, and more than anything else, is suspenseful as you wonder how this is gonna play out for the two characters. I enjoyed how their preconceived notions couldn't stand in the way of how attracted they were to one another. This book was a great read!

I thoroughly enjoyed this heartwarming contemporary romance by Amy McKinley. The second chance at love, office romance storyline was both realistic and touching and I read this book in two settings as I was completely engaged with the characters and the story from start to finish. Adeline Rossi has a dream job lined up in Italy, far from her home and she has high career aspirations. However, when she arrives in the ‘city of love’, she finds that her new boss is not very welcoming and although he is hot he’s also grumpy. Meanwhile, business tycoon Stone Crenshaw is being plagued by unsettling dreams and can not wait for the renovations on his historic hotel to come to an end. Complicating things further for Stone is the fact that he feels an instant attraction to his new hire, Adeline, who seems to be somewhat accident prone. Adeline suddenly has the role of fake fiancé added to her list of responsibilities when Stone proclaims they are engaged in order to help his business. The news of their engagement is not welcomed by everyone and when obstacles threaten to split the couple up they realise that their fake relationship might not be so fake after all. Stone then has to decide whether he will cross a professional line or risk loosing Adeline for good. This is a wonderfully written romance with two very likeable and relatable main characters in Adeline and Stone. McKinley really brings the characters to life with her descriptive narrative. The story flows well and I was fully immersed in the story, so much so I was cheering Stone and Adeline on hoping they would get their happy ever after. A great read.

It’s the holiday season and who doesn’t love a sweet romance? Fake Fiancé: A Second Chance Office Romance by Amy McKinley definitely fills that spot. Ms. McKinley is a new author for me but she is definitely an author I will read again.

Adeline Rossi is jetting off to her dream job in the wonderful setting of Italy. But much to her dismay her reality isn't matching up to her dreams. Business tycoon Stone Crenshaw has had nothing but headaches on his current hotel renovation. Add in his attraction to his newest employee and Stone figures things couldn’t get more complicated. Thanks to a family-oriented hotelier deciding to sell they both couldn’t be more wrong. When Stone manipulates Adeline into being his fake fiance to seal the deal will their attraction move from a hoax into real-life?

Ms. McKinley does a wonderful job of drawing the reader into this story. The characters are believable and dimensional. The story is engaging and sweet. Weaving in tension and chemistry, Ms. McKinley gives this book the foundation needed to make this story great. I will be definitely adding Ms. McKinley to my list of authors to one-click. Check out this book! You won’t be disappointed!

Fake Fiancé: A Second Chance Office Romance by Amy McKinley was a great 5 star read.

Adeline is graduating college and heading out of town to go work in Italy. a sorority sister is going on maternity and she will be working in her place for a few months. She has a goal and this will help her get to those goals.

Stone is a business man and is currently renovating a hotel and has been having some strange dreams. When his new intern starts he’s not sure what to think at first. The poor girl is clumsy and the way these two first met was interesting and I felt for Adeline when she tripped and fell in his office, I was embarrassed for her and LOL at the same time. When there is a twist regarding a hotel property he has his eye on, he offers a contract to Adeline. She agrees to be his fake fiance, but will they be able to keep the feelings fake?

Overall this was a great read, there are a few things going on in the story that make things interesting and difficult at times for the characters. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story and I loved the historical connection as well. If you're looking for a read that pulls you right in, 1-click and get started today. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Fake Fiancé: A Second Chance Office Romance by Amy McKinley

Adeline is leaving her hometown behind her after graduating college. Going to Italy is a stepping stone for her career. She doesn't expect to fall in love. Not with her boss. Sharing dreams is one thing but falling in love wasn't. The quote I chose for Adeline is: “Stop being a knuckle dragger. You don’t need me, Tommy. You’re a gifted athlete. I know you’ll get snapped up by the team of your dreams. I don’t have anything to do with your skill, and we’re friends. That’s all. But if you don’t get it through your thick skull that that’s the only thing we’ll ever be, then we’re going to have problems, and that won’t look good to any potential NFL affiliates if they get wind of this little scenario.”

Stone is the owner of several hotels and he's not having a great time in the one he's in now. Losing his assistant is hard, but not knowing if the new one will work out is harder. He finds himself attracted to Adeline and doesn't want to lose her. The quote I chose for Stone is: “If you’re going to wear heels you can’t walk in unaided, then I’ll need to hold onto you. We wouldn’t want to have a repeat of what happened earlier in my office today.”

Highly recommended for contemporary romance lovers.

This story was interesting, a little fast paced but definitely romantic.
Adenine has her career path all planned out, and the first step after college is to work for Stone Enterprises. Thanks to her soriety sister, she's on her way to work as Stone's personal assistant and away from her clingy ex.
As soon as Adeline arrives in Italy, she feels a connection with the hotel and also a connection to Stone, which she can't explain.
When Stone needs her to be his fake fiancé for a business deal, she's more than happy to help out, but on her own terms.
Adeline was a likeable character that seemed to be older than she actually was, she was extremely confident and took charge, not letting anyone walk over her, including Stone.
Stone was a cool headed business guy, but something about the hotel was making him uncomfortable, but he can't figure out what it is.
The mix of dreams and a past life made this story interesting to read, and also helped explain the instant attraction between these two. The epilogue was also a nice touch.
I listened to this story as an audio book, the narration was easy to listen to and I would happily listen to a book read by Regan Brown again.

Fake Fiance is a fantastic office romance by Amy McKinley. It was previously published in the Sinful Secrets (A Contemporary Romance Box Set). I have been a huge fan of Amy McKinley’s writing for a long time so it’s always great to get lost in her writing again.
Adeline has her dream job lined up in Italy but what she doesn’t expect is that within days of starting her new job she’s playing the role of fake fiancé to her hot but very grumpy boss, Stone, so that he can convince a possible seller that he’s a respectable family man.
What results is a great story that I was engrossed in and read in one sitting as I didn’t want to put it down. Adeline and Stone’s story is a great read. Both are great characters that I totally fell in love with. The more you get to know Stone you get to see a different side to the ruthless, cold, arrogant businessman and he’s actually a very nice guy down deep inside.
The story is very well written and flows well and kept me engrossed throughout. One thing I loved was the setting of the book. You are treated to detailed description of beautiful setting in Italy and it makes me want to visit there and see it all for myself.
All in all this is a great book that I’d definitely recommend to others to read.

This was an emotional read. It is a story I love and the characters are so well written. I love Adeline's character. She is a fiesty  strong woman who doesn't let nothing get in her way.

When Adeline is asked to cover someone's maternity leave she has no plans of finding romance. All she is focused on is pursuing her career and getting to the top. However things all change when she meets her boss Stone Crenshaw.

Stone is the owner of a hotel which he is renovating. He is work focused and has no intention of settling down. He's after his next hotel and will do anything he can to win the bid on it. Even pretending to be in love.

When he makes Adeline an offer to become his fiancee to help him win the bid she is reluctant but smart to see how it will help her progress her career so she agrees.

What neither party sees coming is that the actual contact and connection between them is real and so strong.

Can they fight this connection and keep this strictly business? Who is out to split this couple up? Can they survive the obscales in front of them or will it tear them apart?

This was a great quick read from Amy McKinley.
Adeline finds herself with opportunity to travel to Italy for work. Knowing that this is a great career move, and far away from her ex, she sets off to the other side of the world. There, she finds herself working for a grumpy, but sexy, Stone Crenshaw.
Stone is trying to get the renovations on his current hotel done so he can move onto the next project. His first impression of his new employee is less than stellar...but he gives her the chance to prove herself. One way to that, pretend to be his fiancé when a hotel goes up for sale by a man who believes in the importance of family.
What starts out as part of her job quickly becomes something much more. However, not everyone wants to see Adeline and Stone together and that adds a whole other layer of drama to the story. There was romance and drama...and the descriptions of Italy make me want to travel there as soon as a I get the chance. This story has many layers to it that kept me turning the pages til I had reached the end. Another great story by Amy McKinley!

This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites. I enjoy her writing skills and her attention to details make you feel as if you are part of the story. This book is no different. This is a romance story that I found hard to put down. It is engaging and easy to read. I was pulled in from the beginning by the characters. Adeline has her dream job all set up in Italy, the city of love. Once she gets there, the city of love isn’t what she expected. She now finds herself playing the role of fiance to her boss, Stone. Now they are faced with keeping their relationship business or crossing a professional line. Will they cross that line and give in to the attraction? I enjoyed watching their relationship grow throughout the story. Their chemistry is off the charts and I found myself hoping they would cross that line and find a HEA they so deserved. I enjoyed their characters, they really made the story for me. I highly recommend this book.

Fake Fiancé: A Second Chance Office Romance by Amy McKinley is a sweet romance story. I love Amy’s stories as she always gives us something beautiful and brings out the emotions. The plot is well thought out and I loved the story flowed really well. It is easy to read and I read it in one sitting. Amy has done a wonderful job and the characters were so life like I felt like I knew them. Amy takes us to Italy and having been there it is easy to imagine the romance blooming I this romantic setting. It is also gives us an in to the world of fashion. The longing and tension keeps you on the edge and the chemistry is just palpable. With outside forces and with the past firmly in their minds, Stone is determined he won’t let there be a repeat of the past. He will do whatever it takes to keep the one thing he wants the most and that is Adeline by his side. Adeline is determined to fight for not only her career but her man as well.

Fake Fiancé: A Second Chance Office Romance is another superb read from Amy McKinley. I know I have said this before, but I really do love Ms. McKinley’s books, she never fails to draw me into her stories, getting me completely invested in her wonderful characters and the outcome of their story. Ms. McKinley is a one-click, no questions asked author for me. I don’t need to know anything about her book to know that I will love it- and this book proves that point yet again.
I loved Adeline and Stone- their chemistry was intense and palpable. But if that alone isn’t enough to entice you, the story was cleverly woven with interesting elements that had me captivated the whole way through. Add a little mysteriousness, some touching & tender moments, emotion, a little drama, lots of spice- and an extra helping of destiny- and this story became un-put-downable.
Another feather for Ms. McKinley’s cap, that’s for sure!

Thank you, Amy McKinley!

Fake Fiancé: A Second Chance Office Romance by Amy McKinley is a romance story.

Adeline Rossi doesn't need a fortune teller to tell her that her fate is far from home. She crosses the Atlantic to Italy with career goals in mind, having secured a dream work. It's anything but love when she arrives in the city of love. Her ridiculously hot manager is grumpy, and the design team's leader is a significant issue. Stone Crenshaw, a wealthy businessman, plagued by disturbing hallucinations, can't wait for the renovations in his historic hotel to be finished. As if that weren't bad enough, he's still dealing with an instant attraction to his clumsy recruit. When a family-oriented hotelier wishes to sell, Stone takes advantage of the situation and attaches a fake fiancée to Adeline's management responsibilities.

I loved the storyline. It was such an enjoyable book to listen to. It is also a quick read for on the go.

I have always loved Amy McKinley’s romance novels so when I saw this newest one dropped and was a novella length read I scooped it up without even thinking twice. I love how this book was a novella, short and sweet, but you still felt as if you got a whole full length novel. This book packs a big punch in a small package. McKinley has always brought the emotion and flare to her characters and Adeline and Stone do not deviate from this. They are complex characters. I loved the push and pull between these two and how we got to see it from both of them in different ways. I felt as if I was reading about a real set of people being thrust into a situation that is bound to have some laughs and very much so has the ability to be disastrous. This is one you will not want to miss! I cannot wait to see what we will get next from Ms. McKinley!

When you think you have scored the best job, then you have to decide do you go with what your boss wants or not?

Adeline has just found her dream job but there is one thing she has been asked by her boss to be his "fake fiance". This may become difficult when the line between professional and plutonic becomes blurred and will they be able to keep their feelings separate.

I love this author, the book itself is a novella but it packs a punch which feels like a full novel. The characters are well written, developed and create a great chemistry within the story. I could not put the book down and really enjoyed the character of Adeline as she was funny and would also love to see these characters in the future.

If you love a great romance novel with a bit of a twist this is a brilliant story to get your teeth into.

Fake Fiancé (A Second Chance Office Romance) by Amy McKinley. First off I love Amy McKinley so I was excited to read this book and I was not disappointed! It's the story of Adeline Rossi who has found her dream job across the ocean in Italy. Once she gets there she realizes that maybe her dream job was just that a dream. Her boss is a horrible grouch and no one on the team is helpful. Stone Crenshaw is business tycoon who is a regular at the historic hotel that Adeline is hired to work on and when the two meet there is an instant attraction. When the owners of the hotel decide to sell Stone tries to use his magic as a businessman and a plan is hatched. He talks Adeline into pretending that she is his fiance. Once the take on the challenge of being a fake couple will they cross that line as a real couple or will they resist the temptation? Read Fake Fiance to find out.

Fake Fiancé – A Second Chance office Romance
By Amy McKinley
5 stars

I really love this author; I have read so many of her books and think she is such a versatile writer. I am always swept up into her books as soon as I start them and Fake Fiancé was no exception. I’m a bit of a sucker for the second chance romance stories, I always find myself rooting for the characters the whole way through, so I guessed that along with the amazing author and this trope I was in for a good read. I LOVED Adeline and Stone! Oh my gosh what a couple! They attraction, the chemistry – just everything about them was amazing! Their relationship wasn’t straight forward but I just absolutely loved reading about them. I love the story was as predictable as I thought it would be. It was a fantastic 5 star read and I would definitely recommend it to other readers!

This isn’t what I expected when I grabbed this one. A simple office romance that takes place in Italy. Well that does happen with the additive of a few odd things. At first I was confused when these visions were happening. Maybe something stating the character was dreaming or having a vision in some way. As the story progresses it becomes more intriguing on how things were going to end.

The characters were fun to watch. Especially Adeline. She is a Savvy business woman. I was impressed with her at her job. She is firm and a complete opposite when not working. The book is worth read just to feel her fierceness when dealing with employees. Pretty sure she is my favorite.

Overall this is a good read. At time the flow is a bit choppy but it all smooths out nicely in the end. The characters are some nice growth and how they interpret their visions was a delight.

I could NOT put this book down! From the very first page it had me invested and the more I read the more I had to carry it with me wherever I went to try to grab a few pages here, a few pages there. The characters are flawless, Adeline has just enough spunk and Stone has just enough manly grrr. The author did a great job of making them relatable and oh my goodness so funny! I fell in love with Adeline's events and couldn't wait for the next mishap. This story has humor, sexiness, a little mystery, romance, and fun. The secondary characters were just as impressive and I will be praying daily for this author to write more about these two. One of my favorite 2020 books I've read. If you like a strong heroine, laugh out loud moments, a realistic true relationship, and a little put the other person in their place story, this is the one you want to get.

This was my first book by Amy McKinley. It won’t be my last. I found another favorite author! This book stole me the second I started reading it. I couldn’t put it down. Adeline Rossi is our main female character. She’s a head strong, smart, driven female who knows what she wants in life. Is set in her way of not “ending up like her mom”, and feeling like she missed out on her goals in life. Stone Crenshaw is our main male character and he’s a business tycoon who is a workaholic. They have an interesting meeting. While pretending to be engaged, things start to boil. This is unlike any other “fake fiancé” books I've read. Absolutely recommend and can’t wait to find more books by Amy McKinley.

Fake Fiance: a Second Chance Office Romance
Amy McKinley
4 out of 5 stars

This is not the first book I've read by this author, I have really come to enjoy her writing style and attention to detail throughout the several books I have read and Fake Fiance is no exception. While this book has a different feel than the Gray Ghost series I came to know the author from, this was in no way disappointing. This book is fairly short at about 150 pages and I had trouble putting it down. I felt that the plot was really strong and I was interested in the story after just the first couple pages. I enjoyed how the characters, especially Adeline were likeable. I would definitely recommend this book to others and look forward to reading more from this author.

This is my first book from this author and I have absolutely fallen in love with Amy McKinley's writing. I was expecting a short and sweet office romance between an assistant and her boss. Instead, I became heavily invested in Adeline and Stone within the first chapter of each respective character. McKinley did a fantastic job of giving Adeline and Stone more than just their appearances or wealth. They felt like individuals with their own personalities and dreams, and I would have enjoyed getting to know them and follow their stories whether there was a romance plot or not. It takes a lot of talent, attention to details, and good pacing to be able to pull off a novel like this, and Fake Fiancé: A Second Chance Office Romance has me thoroughly impressed.

Fake Fiance by Amy McKinley is from the Second Chance Office Romance Series. This is a fun, enjoyable read. The story follows Adeline Rossi has started her dream job working for a business magnate, Stone Crenshaw. I really enjoyed the character of Adeline and was rooting for her with all the changes she was experiencing in her life. She is brave and interesting. I didn't like Stone at first but he wore me down once he showed his non-business side. This is a getaway romance and I was excited to read another by Amy McKinley. Her books are always a great getaway. I always look forward to reading books from her and look forward to reading more of her books in the future.

Fake Fiancé: A Second Chance Office Romance by Amy McKinley. I’ve already fallen in love with most of this authors work so I was definitely excited to gym hands on this story. And again I wasn’t disappointed! The characters had me hooked from the very first page and I happily got lost in the pages for a while with them. Each character was easy to connect with and brought something unique to the storyline. It’s a smaller read but in no way was it hindered by that fact. It still had everything I needed from great characters and a wonderful storyline. I love when I can finish out my reading year with strong five star reads and this is definitely one! Highly recommended!

Fake Fiancé A second chance office romance.

Adeline has spunk and attitude which she will need all that and more for this new job she got through one of her sorority sisters.
Adeline won’t let anyone stand in her way with this great new job opportunity it’s just what she wanted. She has just recently graduated from college than to get this opportunity was a dream to her.
She never thought she would get the opportunity to further her job career in just a few short weeks. Deals get mad papers get signed and new adventure begins.
This book was well written. This is the first book I have read by Amy McKinley and to say I enjoyed it was an understatement it was wonderful.

Fake Fiancé by Amy Mckinley was a really great read! While kind of predictable, this book was very enthralling in its story and characters. You kind of get two stories in one with this sweet romance, and it's definitely a great one to read. I was instantly captures from the beginning, and it was hard to put down. The story was very well written, I got lost in the pages so often. The characters were great and I felt like I was right there in Italy with them all. This was not my first read from Mckinley, and it definitely did not disappoint. I highly recommend this novel!

As the pages of this book turn, you will be transported from your home to Italy. Adeline Rossi finds more than a new career in Italy as she encounters Stone Crenshaw, a client who seems like a welcome reprieve from her trouble-laded office situation. At first, Stone is a welcomed distraction from a ill-mannered boss and clumsy work mistakes. As Adeline and Stone become more involved, their romance isn't met with smiles and warmth by everyone. How will Stone react in this situation? What will happen to their romance with increased external pressure? Take an afternoon to yourself and find out!
