They must trust each other—or bear the consequences.
Chrissa Grant isn’t the sort of lass who enjoys sitting at home. With a pivotal battle looming between Robert the Bruce and the English, she knows exactly where she wishes to be: fighting with her older cousins, the group known as the Highland Swords. So when she’s given the chance to take part in the war effort, she eagerly accepts, especially since she’ll get to work with Drostan. The two have practiced side by side for years, dreaming of the day they’ll finally be able to defend their clan.
As they embark on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, Chrissa and Drostan’s friendship turns into something deeper and stronger. For Drostan, it’s a dream come true—he’s loved Chrissa almost as long as he’s wanted to be a Grant warrior. But a dark force is gathering around Clan Grant, and it threatens to swallow them up.
Chrissa and Drostan’s ability to survive depends on their faith in each other, and they mustn’t fail. The fate of Clan Grant hangs in the balance.
Keira Montclair is the pen name of an author who lives in South Carolina with her husband. She writes fast-paced historical romance, often with children as secondary characters.
If she’s not writing, she prefers to spend time with her grandchildren. She’s worked as a high school math teacher, a registered nurse, and an office manager. She loves ballet, mathematics, puzzles, learning anything new, and creating new characters for her readers to fall in love with.
She considers her work done well when her readers shed tears over her stories, but there’s always a happy ending! Her bestselling series is a family saga that follows two medieval Scottish clans through three generations and now numbers over fifty books.
This is the last book in the Highland Swords series. Keira Montclair brings so many characters and all the clans back into this story. It was so great to catch up with all the characters I read about in the past and see them all interact once more.
Old man Logan may have had to slow down a bit, but he will never admit it and he still makes great entrances. The Banter between Alex and Logan is so entertaining .
This story centers around Alex’s great granddaughter; Kyla and Finley’s daughter, Chrissa and her long time friend Drostan. Their relationship grows while Chrissa finds her place in the clan. Funny how similarities to her mom and dad are there.
Avelina, Drew and the Sapphire Sword are back. She is much older and she has one more task as the keeper of the the sword.
All the highland swords have developed their skills. With some final additions, what they accomplish is amazing.
This story is very emotional and touching in so many areas. Wonderful memories are shared. All the clans have grow so much, I needed the family tree to help keep everything straight. There is a great gathering and event that was so beautiful, fun, meaningful and well written.
The ending, brought me to a mess of tears and emotions. All the pride, traditions and love brought forth. Keira writes a wonderful finale to the Highland Sword story that completes the adventure so well. It is evident a lot of time, planning and thought went into to making the ending everything it should be.
I am sad to be at the end of the series, but I know Kiera still has so many stories to tell. I can’t wait to see what direction she will take us, and I will gladly follow
There are almost no words to express how much I loved this book. I experienced a myriad of emotions & by the time I finished reading, I felt like I had personally experienced everything that happened.
Chrissa Grant dreams of fighting alongside her cousins, the Highland Swords, & when a battle between the English & Robert the Bruce seems to be at hand, she gets her chance. She will also be able to work beside the warrior who has sparred with her for years, Drostan, & together they will be able to defend their clan. The more they are immersed in the danger, the closer they become & feelings become much more than friendship. Their romance blossoms & the faith & trust they gained in training only enhances their desire between them & the desire to help protect their clan.
This book is so well written, it tugs at your heartstrings & doesn't let go & makes for a compelling read that I highly recommend. I was gifted the Advanced Reader Copy of this book & all opinions are my own & have been voluntarily given.
The final book in the series was like a big finale with so many old characters, especially from the original Grant series. Chrissa and Drostan are sweet. The whole sword thing wasn't my favorite but it was cool.
The Scot's Deception Highland Swords #5 Keira Montclair ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Chrissa Grant is determined to be at the pivotal battle between Robert the Bruce and Edward and she knows exactly where she wants to be fighting, with her cousin's the Highland Swords. So she is more then happy when she is given that exact chance. But the best part of all is that she gets to fight with Drostan. The two have practiced side by side for years while making each other promises of what they hope one day will be.
Drostan has loved Chrissa for years and he can only hope that she remembers all of the promises that they made to each other.
As they go off on this dangerous adventure their friendship turns to something much deeper and a love that is stronger then ever, but there is something very evil and sinister gathering around Clan Grant, and it's threatening to swallow them all whole.
Chrissa and Drostan's ability to survive will depend on their faith in one another in more then one way, and they must not fail each other or Clan Grant now as the Clans fate just may hang in the balance.
Keira Montclair is fantastic and she never seems to leave me reeling. This is the final book in the Highland Swords series and you won't want to miss this as it is emotional and packs a punch. As a long time reader of Keira's books I can certainly say things happend in this book that I didn't see coming. I truly enjoyed reading this and really took my time with it. As sad as it is to see this series ending I can feel the anticipation for what Ms. Montclair has planned next.
The Scot's Deception is the final book in the Highland Swords series, and what a wonderful finale it is! So full of family, love, so emotional, very nostalgic and the kind of ending we have come to love and expect from Keira Montclair. Keira never disappoints. Loveable and smart children play a prominent role, as in all of Keira's books. Chrissa and Drostan's story in this book was very sweet. I loved their discovering their feelings and their long history of friendship first. Drostan worked hard to be worthy of Chrissa. They matured in a very short time. Keira's description of their wedding was so realistic I could literally imagine it and "see" it. And the homecoming of so many favorite characters was icing on the cake. The Highland Swords series is worth reading in it's entirety, and after that, if you haven't already, start with Keira's first book, Rescued By A Highlander, the first book in the Clan Grant series, Alex and Maddie's story. It's the beginning of a wonderful journey. I have and will continue to read anything and everything Keira Montclair writes.
The Scot's Deception by Keira Montclair Highland Swords Series Book Five Chrissa Grant is now ten and nine, and she's been noticing how her feelings are changing for her childhood friend, Drostan. But she has more important things to think about. A big war is coming between the Scots and English...and she'll be there to help.
Drostan Chisholm worked hard every day in the lists. He was determined to be the best swordsman he could be. He'd have to keep his mind on practicing more instead of watching Chrissa in the archery field with leggings hugging her body.
Chrissa is the daughter of Kyla and Finlay, their only daughter. Drostan is a Grant warrior. Alexander Grant had wanted his children and their children, etcetera, to choose their spouses. So, where some may not think a warrior could have any hope of one day marrying one of the royals...there was hope. A remarkable story and closing to the Grant clan. A definite tissue alert. **Sexual content https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
Chrissy and Drostan have been friends since childhood. Now their feelings for each have grown. Chrissy finally gets her chance to go off into battle with her cousins and the man she now loves. This book has action, romance, deception, battles, and yes…..another kidnapping. It is worth reading. My only complaint is that the family tree listing at the front of the book did not match what was described at the end of the book or the previous book. There are no children listed for Els at the beginning but his wife was big pregnant at the end of the last book. Alisdar, Dyna and Alick had more children at the end of this book that weren’t on the family tree. It is just something that irritated me but the story was still good.
I love the Grant & Ramsey families and their stories. They are all wonderful and this one is no different. It is so easy to become entrenched in Keira's stories and they grab you right from the beginning. This is Chrissa and Droston's story. They have grown up together, practiced together, and have a fondness for each other. Unfortunately, nothing is easy for Highlanders during this time period and they and their Clans face great challenges. The characters are wonderful and the story is fabulous with an emotional ending.
Chrissa is one of his grandchildren who gets her story. She gets Druston in this take with lots of twists. I am sorry if this is the last story of Clan Grant but I have loved the journey. At some point I am going to read these all again but I freely admit I have read some of these a few times already. Especially the first book. Take the journey. Read the series. Each stands alone but make a beautiful series. I still have tears in my eyes but a hope that someday Kiera will go forward.
I have loved clan grant from the beginning the love between Maddie and Alex has grown and lived on between their kids and grandkids. As they help Scotland fight for their freedom they find love and strength not only in themselves but their friends. Could someone or something come between clan Grant and clan Ramsey will the English beat king Robert? This book answers those questions and tells a love story that starts in childhood. I enjoyed this book like all of this series I just couldn’t put it down. I would recommend it, I did receive an ARC of this book.
WOW, what a great story! Fast paced, well crafted with well developed characters. Emotionally driven, with intrigue, suspense, danger and all our favorite clans, the Grants, Rampseys and other Highland clans, readers have come to love. In a way, I'm sorry to see this group of warriors end, but I'm excited to see new stories will be in the horizon. Powerful and compelling story! Can be read as a stand alone. Another must read by a talented, well versed Scottish Romance author, Keira Montclair.
I have read every single book by this author and each one is better than the last. This one is bittersweet for me. I knew this was coming but was hoping it was still a ways off, but then, I would say that no matter how many books there were. Keira, you are brilliant! The romance between Drostan and Chrissa was beautiful and exciting. The end was very tastefully written and had a beautiful, peaceful quality to it. I do hope you change your mind about not writing a story for John and Coira! So many possibilities for adventures with the sword!!! :)
I love it! It was nail-biting, I literally bite my nail with anxiety and I couldn't put the it down. I bawled my eyeballs out.
Nooo!
((Goosebumps)) I'm just so sad and I'm crying.
So glad of their happiness and their wedding were dreamy. The clans gathering all at once. Omg omg. Love them, Grants, Ramsays, Menzies, Camerons, and Drummonds!!
What a wonderful send off for Alex to participate in his gran child's festival and wedding with all the clans United together. Also him telling of how he met and fell in love with Maddie to all his children and grandchildren and even great grandchildren was a way for him to say goodbye with dignity. He will then see his loved ones in heaven with no more aches and pains. Truly poignant.
I actually loved how the author ended this series. She brought all the clan family history together while keeping it a page turner to the end! The characters in this entire series were so well developed and drew you right in to their drama and had you chasing after the culprits or wooing their love interests right along with them. So happy Alexander Grant had such a long and fulfilling life. Well done Keira Montclair!
I love this series of books. The stories are exceptional and keep you involved through each books. This is the second series I have read by Keira Montclair. That series was just as good as this one. If you love to read and like danger and romance please give this author a chance. I think you will become a fan. Well I on to the next book in the series. Good reads.
I love all of Keira's books, but Clan Grant has always been my favorite. Alex was the glue that held them altogether along with Maddie of course. You have everything in this book, battles, surprises female archers and everything in between. Although this is the last book for this clan, I'm sure family members will get their shot down the line, maybe in another time. HEA but sad too.
This book was past amazing. I had my laughter and naturally my tears. This whole Grant and Ramsey series are the best. It ended the only way it could. Fabulous. I will still keep on with my rereading the whole series again. Because it's just that great. Thank you for sharing this story. To anyone who has not read this series its a must read.
The story of Chrissa and Tristan was very interesting a nice love story. Alexander Grant was amazing with his love for all. Seeing who he picked to be the keeper of the magical sword was great. I love all the stories of the different clans that helped each other. Looking forward to more
they were both warriors and would fight for the clan and Scotland
I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. The characters all had strong personalities; the families and individuals all interacted with each other so well. The fight between the English and Scots is well documented through history and this battle embodies that. Of course, there is love and betrayal also.
The Clans gather to support Robert the Bruce. The Scots defeat the twenty thousand soldiers brought by England's King Edward II. Though greatly out numbered, the Clans Grant and Ramsey enlists the Sid of the Safire Sword and some white magic to thoroughly rout the English.
The Highland Swords was an amazing series. There were some mystical nuances, that I am typically not a fan of, but in these books there was just enough to make them delightful and entertaining stories. I am so sorry this series is over, but I will be enjoying more books by this wonderful author.
Love this series of books I just love the grants the Ramses all of them I will miss them but maybe one day you will write again of these wonderful people maybe someday you were right again on the grants and the Ramsey's and all of them the next generation the great grandbabies thank you very much
I have really enjoyed reading the Grant series with all the generations but Ido understand it must be difficult to keep expounding on family stories including all the Grants. Managing to keep this ending on a positive note is truly an artist delight. Looking forward to other Clans linages exposed in later books.
OMG! I love and hated this book. Hated the ending. Mainly because I read the author's letter at the end and it saddened me greatly. Keira Montclair is an amazing talented author. I wish these stories never came to and end. But as we all know all good things come to an end.
Thank you Keira for giving us such a wonderful wonderful ending to Clan Grant! Yes so very sad and I guessed then ending in the Prologue! This was a fantastic way to send Alex back to Maddie! 💜💜💜💜💜🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😊😊😊😊😊 Don’t stop Writing!
You are correct, I am very unhappy that you chose to end the story this way. I would have preferred that if ended with Alex still alive. I am not sure I want to read any more books is Alex is gone.
I have enjoyed reading this series. If you like families and their interactions with each other, you will enjoy reading about the clans and the struggles they face. Highly recommend Keira Montclair books
What a bang up ending for this series! I love this author and this is my favorite series and this books has sent me on an emotional ride from page one ... wish you could have gotten 5+ stars!
