Amelia (Ami) Jane Gray: The Lost Island

Rate this book
Amelia (Ami) Jane Gray spent her entire life growing up in Massachusetts. Sadly at the age of eighteen, she tragically lost both of her parents in a car accident just before her freshman year of college. While heartbroken over the loss, Ami didn’t let that stop her from attending the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. There she met her two best friends Andrew (Drew) Christopher Gregory and Jacqueline (Jackie) Louise Peabody.
Fast forward four years and these tight knit friends have all graduated from college. Having been lucky enough to be gifted with a surprise trip through the Caribbean, Ami, Jackie, and Drew were excited for the vacation of a lifetime. That was until the three friends were notified that Jackie’s cousin Sloane Ivan Cranston would be tagging along.
That should’ve been the first clue that this trip was about to change the course of their lives. A course that would send the four of them on an adventure they could’ve only barely imagined. Would they find their true love through the mystery that laid before them?
Not everything is what it appears to be!

Hello everyone, I would like to take a moment out to introduce myself. I am Darla Stone Author of the Amelia Jane Gray series. Writing in the genre of Paranormal fiction and Romance has been a long time dream of mine. The first novella that I ever wrote was a single copy release and was specially written as a gift for a family member. With their support along with the support of my loving husband, I took the plunge to become a published author. I am very excited to bring to you the worlds in which I have created. This is the culmination of years of research into the worlds of the unknown and is my own personal spin on the contemporary mythos that we all know and love.

This story was definitely intriguing for me so I'm really excited for the next books.  Amelia, aka Ami, Jane Gray hasn't had the easiest time in life since she lost her parents too early.  Now, she's finally graduated college, so she & her friends are off to an exciting vacation through the Caribbean. However, it was odd how her cousin just so happened to be tagging along but they still went on. They should have questioned it more as things were definitely not what they seemed sending Ami, her friends, and we the readers on a crazy journey with ups & downs from the f-bomb worthy twists.  I'm not going to go into more because I really don't want to give anything away, but seriously?!  Darla Stone is a descriptive genius who transported me along for the ride with this group.  I'm excited to see what's next, and hoping that questions will get some answers so I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

“The Lost Island had my attention the whole time. It was the kind of stories that you know it’s going to be a long journey and you can’t wait to see how things will continue. Ami had a complicated past marked by suffer but she continued with her life. Who doesn’t love a vacation through the Caribbean? The sand, the ocean, the parties! Anyway it was such a roller coaster ride that had me on the edge with some wow-shocking situations! Darla was a new author to me and I really liked her writing style and how the story developed. Can’t wait to read more about this journey!”

"𝑰 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒎𝒚 𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒌𝒇𝒂𝒔𝒕." 𝑮𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒈𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒇, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒂𝒏 𝒅𝒆𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒚 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝒂 𝒍𝒐𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒂.

I don't know what to say, except "Holy Flipping Moaning Turtles"! The story is interesting and attention keeping. We have humans, wolves, vampyr, elves, gargoyles and what not!! The romance, the unorthodox pleasure, the twists and definitely the friendship; all make this story one to be read.

While reading, there were many theories I was thinking about, but never did I think that they would be the ones and now I realise that @DarlaStone actually did give us a hint in the middle of the story.

This story starts with loving friendship of three recently graduated students going for a trip as a treat. With an additional member to their group, the four of them find themselves in the middle of almost nowhere. Everything at that place is of the ancient times: some words and definitely the clothes. As the story progresses, there is a love angle introduced (not between the group). Each of them find themselves with a different specie/creature/person; call it whatever you want.

I totally loved the ending-- the rush-rush wedding binding chapters and the cliffhanger!

Definitely going to read the next book- "The Sleeping Mountain".

What a great start of what is definitely going to be an interesting trilogy!! I enjoyed getting to know the characters and I loved the relationship between the four friends. Ami is a strong independent woman who can definitely take of herself but also has a vulnerability about her!! Brevan definitely sounds sexy and would do anything for his true mate Ami! I can’t wait to see what happens next as the adventure and romance continue!!

The Lost Island by Darla Stone
Well what a fine romp that was! Healthy full character descriptions with personalities to match the racy pacy story about close fiends who slip into another era, zone or how can I say - another more rarified life or existence. Plausibility isn’t on offer here just mostly warm feelings about the fantasy type of new life in which the friends find themselves.

I don’t like tales that don’t finish in one book however, I have to admit this one gets away with it because it does have a sort of ending even if one isn’t tempted to read the next continuing book.

The description of the book didn't give me even half an idea of what I was about to read in a good way. The book was really good although some things seemed to move too fast and could have used some more time and chapters. I immediately pre-ordered the sequel that luckily comes out this week.

So this could potentially be a very interesting trilogy. The characters are very interesting and quite intriguing. The story line is attention grabbing if a little all over the place at times. Ami, Jackie & Drew finally graduate college and get to go on an epic adventure to the Caribbean (who wouldn’t be stoked by this). None of them question the fact that a fourth just kind of tags along for this adventure which was a little sketchy.

On this adventure they each have their own love interest which makes for interesting reading – al though I think I would have liked to focus mainly on one character at a time. I think what would have really sold this series for me is if the author had maybe focused one one thing more than all the little bits of everything in the story.

That said though – the author is incredibly descriptive in her language and has amazing world building in her corner. I could very easily get lost in the world she created for her characters.

All in all I would pick up the second book in the trilogy to see where the story goes as it really does have an interesting story line.

The Author, Darla Stone, has done a fantastic job creating new, fresh characters along with introducing us to places we could only dream about but for Amelia (Ami) Jane Gray and her friends, it's their new reality. Ami is one kick ass character. I love her attitude and feistiness. Drew is the friend everyone should have had in their life at one time and Jackie, in my opinion, the best sidekick ever! Together, with a few other characters, they go on the adventure of a lifetime... or two.

Darla's imagination has sparked a new flame on my bookshelf. I never saw myself enjoying this genre but Darla Stone has me hooked! I can't wait to read the other books in this series!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This book reads like a soap opera. Dramatic events occur- babies are spirited away, parents pass away, long lost siblings are found along with long lost magical worlds, characters are thrown in jail, relationships happen out of the blue, and don't forget the clothing choices!

The plot was engaging. The characters were a bit confusing, as they seem to put more emphasis on their clothing choices and their looks than they do on important life decisions. Not much character development, but I felt like I had to read the book completely to see what outlandish event would occur next.

I received this book for free and I am voluntarily writing this review.

Loved this free review copy from VRO. Author completely drew you in from the beginning. Many interesting and sometimes painful themes. I was thrilled with the Paranormal and fantasy aspects. Steamy romance scenes and alternate lifestyle choices were really appreciated. Can hardly wait to read next books in the series.

I really enjoyed this book. You very quickly become invested in the characters and feel like you are there on their journey with them. The cliffhanger at the end is so sudden and ominous, I'm going to have to find the next book in the series and find out what happens next.

I enjoyed this book so much that I finished it in a day. The characters are well written and I loved the storyline.
There were quite a few grammar mistakes, particularly missed words which was a little bothersome. Other than that I would absolutely recommend.

Really good book, well written with a great storyline, thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish although it was a slow starter, once you got going it was brilliant. Loved all the characters and I will be reading the next book.
Highly recommend

I received a free copy from voracious readers. Nice book, I found it a bit long winded at the beginning and a bit awkward in joining certain sequences.way to many unanswered questions and no steps to resolve

Intriguing. The story was travelling along fairly conventionally and suddenly took a left turn and zoomed off into fantasy and myth which kept me page turning for hours. This story was sent to me as a free review copy by the author via voracious Readers Only in return for an honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, being a mix of new with the old. This would be a great teen book into helping to guide and understand themselves, that everyone is different and can learn to get alone with each other.

I did enjoy some aspects of this book, however I liked the start of the book more than the rest. I know that fantasy/paranormal stories can mean that anything goes, but the characters just seemed way too calm to me, and really did not question this massive change to their lives. I would still like to see what happens with them next, though, especially with how this book ends.
