An explosion rocks a Gotham City charity event, sending Batman and Batwoman to investigate. But even though the situation proves radioactive, could something more insidious be behind it?
I haven't read any other issues in this series. I only checked this one out because my favorite obscure Batman villain, Doctor Phosphorous, makes an appearance. He rarely gets any use, so I tend to take notice when he pops up. It was a decent little standalone story where we get to see Batwoman's first encounter with Doctor Phosphorous. Unfortunately, the whole story ends with a strange anti-nuclear power message that is rather baffling. Very weird to see outdated conservative political positions coming out of Batman's mouth, or any other characters that claim to be heroes. I'm guessing Gabriel Hardman has some issues to sort out, or perhaps is a beneficiary of the fossil fuel industry. Who knows. Regardless, I got what I came for. Good enough for me.
For a stand alone comic so far this has been the best in the series. The artwork was different from the rest of the series but better. The colourist did a brilliant job and the storyline was unbeatable. Really good job.
