With perseverance you can accomplish anything! Marie Bartoletti s story bears witness to her personal motto. Her book is an engaging read for those who run and those who wonder why they do. Marie chronicles her international distance running career in memorable anecdotes sprinkled with photographs that bring the reader along for the run. Marie had completed 315 marathons and 25 ultra marathons, when her life was interrupted by a stroke in 2015. Someone in the United States has a stroke every 40 seconds. Every 4 minutes, someone dies of stroke. Benjamin EJ, Blaha, MJ, Chiuve SE, et al. on behalf of the American Heart Association Statistics Committee and Stroke Statistics Subcommittee. Marie is a determined individual. Be it a marathon, teaching a class, or any aspect of her life, she gives it her all. Her determined nature has helped her throughout the stroke rehabilitation process. Marie returned to marathon running and pacing in 2016. It is her determination that lent itself to the title of her book, How a Determined Athlete Tenaciously Overcame a Stroke. Marie is truly an inspiration and a wonderful role model.

Once I started reading this book I realized that I knew the author and her parents. I enjoyed reading about her life. Marie discussed many marathons she has done all over the world. I'm glad she's healthy now.
