HOLY SMOKES THIS BOOK IS HOT AF! If you like your men super alpha and sexy and so freaking amazing, this is book will rock your socks off. I like Penny Dee's MC romances, but hot mountain men, I was hooked just from the blurb and I personally cannot wait for the next book in the series!
Seriously, I cannot say enough good things about this book other than maybe I wish it was a little longer. Though, I did like it short, sweet, and dirty. Great job to the author!

I just finished Axel, the first in Penny Dee’s new Men of Mirror Lake Mountain series, which officially releases today, December 3. I set my Kindle aside about ten minutes ago, and I still can’t wipe the goofy grin off my face. This wintery, Thanksgiving holiday romance, is sexy, sultry, and sweet. It is a trifecta of goodness. She leaves with him and they return to his secluded mountain cabin. Without his mask, Axel is tempting - and suddenly, Lauren isn’t thinking so much about her impending wedding - she’s thinking about what it would be like to…well…let’s just say that the chemistry between Axel and Lauren is fiery. When a storm forces Lauren to stay with him for longer then intended, it becomes hard to deny what they are both feeling. But the sexy times were not the only reason this was such a good read. Axel is such a great character and the back and forth that he and Lauren have is to die for. This book is short and a quick read - but you still get SO into the story. Not many authors can pull me in quickly, and have me rooting for characters this fast - and Penny Dee was there. I can’t wait to read the others in this series because I really like her style. I know you will too.

This was a great short read . The chemistry between Axel and Lauren was so hot . Penny Dee fit so much into this short story. It’s a story of love , redemption, and happiness. I couldn’t put it down and loved every word of it . If you need something for a short read you can’t go wrong with this !

I am going to absolutely love the 'Men of Mirror Lake Mountain' - why you may asked? because if they are anything like Axel they are going to get me totally hot under the collar and other places while delivering a quick sassy read! These books I believe are all going to be novellas which is ideal!
Sometimes you just want to turn your mind of when you read - not to have to think about what you are reading but still get pleasure from the story and Axel and Lauren's story will give you that and much more 😜😜

Lauren and heiress being married off at the beautiful resort. Sneaky glances make both wish for a different life. This was a quick hot read. The attraction between Lauren and Axel simmered, once unleashed, both were engulfed with flames and an unlikely love was born. This story had intrigue, heat and love. I can't wait to read more in this series.

Both of these characters are instantly attracted to one another, I wouldn't say insta love..... but I would say insta lust 😜.
Axel is massively hot and surrounded by mystery, you are kept guessing about his past all the way through the story. Lauren is heiress who is struggling with what she wants from life, that is until she meets Axel. One thing she is certain of is that she doesn't want to marry her fiance!

This delectable quick read is all about the emotions and steam. Axel and Lauren make one combustible couple! Their chemistry sizzles, their scenes scorch and their banter burns. It's over-the-top, intense, exciting and heartwarming. A perfect way to get your read on when time is limited or you just need a little hit of heat and heart to make your day better. Can't wait to see what comes next for this series. I am posting an independent, impartial review.

Axel is a fast paced hot steamy read! Axel is a hot muscled bad boy on the run from the law, who happens to be in the right place at the right time for Lauren's benefit. Lauren, doesn't know what exactly is going on, but when she finds herself being taken away by Axel, she realizes she doesn't need answers to her questions, she just wants him and his package!! This book was filled with a great storyline, characters and lots of between the sheets action!! Get ready for an all nighter with this one!!

Axel is the man of all men and Lauren is his perfect match. The two of them are fire together. First book in the Men of Mirror Lake Mountain series and I’m already addicted. Penny Dee never disappoints and this book was no different.

Axel and Lauren’s story is nonstop action from the beginning. Who do you trust? The Big mountain man that whisk you away on the eve of your wedding telling you there’s a plot to have you kidnapped? Or the fiancé and and father that tell you the mountain man is dangerous? Who will Lauren believe especially when she’s getting cold feet and falling for Axle. I can’t wait for more of the Mirror Lake men!!

This is the 1st in a new series and is Axel and Lauren’s story. When Axel overhears a conversation about kidnapping Lauren the night before her wedding, he has no choice but to step in and kidnap her himself to protect her and keep her safe. This is a well written instant love quick read which is sweet, and filled with intrigue, danger, danger, a tad angst, and is a steamy and heartwarming story. I look forward to reading more from this author whose work I recommend.

OH MY HELL! Axel is a story that is short(ish) but so very HOT that I'm still burning up. It's the story of this alpha Axel, who ends up kidnapping heiress Lauren before the bad guys do because he overheard something, and it changes their lives forever. She was amazing because she could go toe to toe with him, so the interactions were definitely very entertaining, plus the sparks that came out of my kindle lit my room up. I'm a HUGE fan of Penny Dee so I'm going to love anything she writes, but this was definitely very different from the norm & was a great afternoon read that kept me warm during the cold weather. So hit those one click buttons as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Lauren and Axel's relationship starts off very unconventional but they both feel this intense pull towards one another. The sexual tension between them was so thick you could cut it with a knife. These two are sizzling hot!
There is suspense, mystery and some twists that will keep you captivated and highly entertained. Plus the intense heat, erotic moments and whirlwind romance with leave you breathless and begging for more mountain men!

This novella is everything is says on the tin. Instalove, heartwarming, with a tiny bit of angst. So if you're looking for something to curl up with, something to give you a feel good factor, this is the book for you.

Lauren is going through the motions, one minute she is laying in bed and the next she is being taken but is this a bad guy or the hero? Will finding out the truth about her fiancé and Axel be too much?
I personally enjoyed this story, having read Dee’s books previously I was very excited to dive into a new series. Dee has set the path for a great series, I look forward to who is next.

This is the first book in what seems to be a great series, it is Axel and Lauren's story and though short it packs a punch, i can't wait for the other stories.

Straight off I thought this was going to be a typical romance where Lauren falls in love with another in a cafe or something. Nope. Axel saves her from attempting kidnapping and kept her safe ever since. Showing a life in his mountains and free from the city life.
Axel works is a consultant in high-profile security so our guy has some skills and other skills 🔥
At the end of the book, I was happy with their happy ending. A ending we all wish a simple and rich with love ❤❤

This is a quick read, not too quick, that gets your attention from the beginning. We meet Lauren first as she is second guessing her upcoming nuptials and daydreaming of the mystery man. Little does she know, the mystery man, is Axel and he is there to save the day for her. There's a lot of mutual heat between them and bantering back and forth. The characters are great and the chapters get you moving through the book fast. I'm definitely looking forward to the next men in the series.

A super quick , super fun, super sexy novella. Although the description says this book is insta-love, it’s not a cheesy, fall too fast insta-love, it’s a sweet believable insta-love. When Axel overhears a plot to kidnap Lauren Carmichael on the eve of her wedding day, he does the only thing he can think of to protect her. He kidnaps her. This starts a whole host of events, that together Axel and Lauren uncover. They uncover a lot about each other, a lot about those the thought they could trust, and a lot about those they thought they couldn’t trust. A little bit more than just a kidnapping plot. I loved it. I loved Axel, and I loved Lauren. A quick sexy novella to get lost in. I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.

Spicy bites is the perfect description for this book. It has great characters, an interesting plot, and LOTS of combustible, hot steam!! It is a quick easy read that gives your afternoon everything it needs!
Please read the story blurb before you start reading! I hadn’t read the blurb of this book before I started reading it. So I have to admit at the beginning of the story when Axel snuck into her hotel room I was taken aback thinking what a pervert! And the author wants me to swoon over this guy?! But the book quickly explained things and yes! I completely DID swoon over Axel!!
Lauren and Axel are great together. The story line becomes fun, intense, and captivating. Again, lots of steam, but also heartache. These two are from different worlds and there is a reason Axel is hiding on the mountain. Will her family let her go? Will his past keep him hidden? A fun read with all the feels!

Toe curling, tantilzing and totally tongue twisted (in more than one sense). This book was a fab read. It was sexy, it was delcious, it was filled with surprises to keep the story going and get you sucked in. Really intruiged and happy to mark TBR for the next books in the series.

Loved Axel and Lauren story from start to finish, theres plenty of twists and turns plus sizzling HOT chemistry, a must read, I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy, great start to new series Penny.

Short and steamy but full of story! It was a sexy fairytale. A hot mountain man "kidnaps" you, ravishes you and you fall in love.
I have read and enjoyed this authors MC books and this one is different (but just as hot). A quick read I got lost in for an entire rainy Sunday.
I am glad to see this is a series because sometimes you want a fast paced hot read that can devour.

This book was everything I didn't know I needed. I read this book in 3 days! Half in one sitting and half the next!
Axel kidnaps Lauren to help her. Yes, you read that correctly! He thwarts a plan to kidnap Lauren by taking her first and hides her in his cabin. Lauren has already seen Axel and was already lusting after him. So what could go wrong with both of them locked in a cabin? Nothing at all, but there will be some spiciness involved! Beyond ready to read the rest of the series!
