Captured.

I have been touched by the archangels themselves, but I am no match for the betrayal that I never saw coming. The darken now have me, locked away in the Empowered Academy’s dungeon.

The fate of the Empowered Academy and all the innocents held captive within its walls now rest in my hands. I must decide whether to free the innocents or save myself.

Meanwhile, Finn, who has waited lifetimes to find me again, just to have me stolen from him, makes the ultimate sacrifice. A sacrifice that will change us and leave me desolate.

Battles are waged. Alliances are formed.

In the end, will my world be shattered? Will I be broken?

Meh

I was a little iffy when I read the first book of this series, but I really liked the idea of this story so i have book two a try... Unfortunately I feel like the author dropped the ball here. The book felt extremely rushed, and I feel like there were a lot of missed opportunities for the characters and story itself to really evolve. The climax was really lacking, and frankly a bit boring. There are also several spelling mistakes throughout, so not only was the story rushed, but the writing and editing as well. I somehow finished this book because I'm too stubborn to give up on a book but I don't think I'll be reading any further into this series. I would have rated one star, but went with two because the idea is a good one if the author could take her time and pull it together a little better it could be really great.

So. Much. Repetition. Seriously, it's insane. She has asked at LEAST 3 times about there being another entrance/exit to the wendigo realm even after the first time when her gut told her there was only one, she asked the others and they said there was only one, and when they said that her gut again said they were right. Yet here we are, asking AGAIN if there is another doorway. Excellent. The spelling and grammar issues also continue, including still calling Remy "corporal" instead of "corporeal". When there was an opening in a fight, Gabriella "ceasing that moment" took advantage of the opponent's hesitation. Pretty sure you meant "seizing" there but what would I know. Also, she can break the binding on her powers and turn wendigos back to their original form, but she doesn't even try to burn the mark out? They all just accept the only solution is to turn back ALL the wendigo and get to the original while on a massive time crunch.

Spoilers

Trev takes Gabriella to the evil academy, headmistress wants the sword. G makes a deal with Trev and his brother Ezra to stay and help save everyone - all the people at the academy are trapped and can't leave unless a mark is removed from their body. They bring in Luna, Trev's best friend and adopted sister after her family died. Que the wendigos - apparently the headmistress created them and can control them, the head wendigo who is tied up somewhere in their realm under the gym is the source of all the markings and the only one who can remove them. Finn is turned into a wendigo, everyone finds out G has the sword inside her, Sandalphon tells her not to kill the wendigos and to share the power of the sword with six others, G and crew throw a coup, and the headmistress gets away. Hannah loses her wings. Find out the power of the sword lets you turn wendigo back to human. G follows her gut and shares the power of the sword with Luna, Trev, Ezra, Remy, and Hannah. Finn must remain a wendigo to protect G but if the big boss battle takes too long it will become harder and harder to bring Finn back. Remy and Gabriella leave to kill headmistress, return with Finn, Carmaella is heading there with an army, Gabriella goes into the wendigo nest, Finn kills the original who was an angel, angel Jophiel blesses G (making that 9 blessings) before going to heaven, all others and the marked are free. G wakes at Seraphim academy, finds out Finn has darkness inside from killing Jophiel, G gives Finn his piece of the sword power, Finn leaves to seek control. The end.

Gabriella and Finn

Gabriella is kidnapped and taken to the darken academy by Trev, as the headmistress has his ten year old twin sisters captive. She also has many other innocents captive, to control others. She can escape, but the innocents can't. Finn is turned into a wendigo.
This series is awesome, and I can't put it down. Love all the interactions of all the characters.

Book two of the magnificent academy of the seraph trilogy. This book was simply amazing I loved it, action packed, surprising twists and reveals, new lovable characters definitely a must read. This book has another surprising cliffhanger ending which i enjoyed reading making me want to read the next book to find out what happens next especially with Gabriella and Finn.

Following the events of the previous book Trev kidnaps Gabriella who wakes up and overhears him and his brother Ezra talking about needing her to help be free of the empowered academy and the wendigoes. The wendigos are creatures that the headmistress controls and those who are marked cannot leave the academy cannot be freed until the wendigoes are defeated. They bound Gabriella’s powers making her vulnerable but to protect her from being discovered by the headmistress. In dreams Gabriella meets her mother and the other archangels who tell her that she has to share the essence of the flaming sword with seven trusted people. The headmistress orders two of her fingers to be sent to Finn, Ezra and Trev make sure she doesn’t feel pain as they cut two of her fingers and once the binding is removed her fingers will grow back. Remy comes to rescue her only to see Trev meet up with his two younger sisters and tells them they’re finally getting out, he tells Gabriella about all the other prisoners kept here including babies and children to use against the students as leverage Gabriella realises she needs to free them and chooses to stay and make a plan. Days pass by and the school is having a party Ezra unbinds her, her fingers regenerate and she scares away the headmistress who has captured and tortured Hannah by cutting off her wings and tries to help the wendigoes after Sandalphon warning about not killing the wendigoes or she will regret it even more so because the only ways to kill a wendigo is the flaming sword and another wendigo having the sword already she’s horrified to learn that Finn has become a wendigo because an archangel told him to in order to save Gabriella from the original wendigo one that has black wings. Gabriella chooses Luna as the first of her seven Gabriella marks Trev, Ezra, Remy, Hannah to share the flaming sword for days they use The powers to cure the wendigoes back to their blessed states. However the headmistress is after Finn because the longer he remains a wendigo the more he loses himself and she can control him. The headmistress targets the academy of the seraph and Gabriella manages to stop them, the headmistress targets a human town but luckily Gabriella kills her, they head back to the empowered academy to cure more wendigoes but even in death the trailer mrs fields is causing trouble by alerting Camaella about the wendigoes she’s also the one who killed Ella Gabriella’s first life, she seeks to use then wendigoes with time running out Gabriella comes up with a daring plan she and wendigo Finn go look for the original and try to cure her however with Gabriella nearly dying Finn ends up killing her which frees everyone from the dark mark, the archangel Jophiel was the original wendigo captured and black magic turned her into a beast, her feathers were the Ingredient in the serum the headmistress uses to kill fully blessed beings. Gabriella wakes up back in Finns cabin he tells her everyone is freed and now at the academy of seraphs since Camaella was heading to the empowered academy, she makes Finn the last of her seven but he tells her that he killed the original wendigo and the cost of it is he still has his wendigo inside that’s growing stronger fearing he will hurt her and the others decides to leave for their safety, making Gabriella heartbroken.

I read this book so fast it was like watching a movie on a screen it was just that good. I wasn’t quite ready for how this book was going to end.

You’re truly breaking my heart, I thought our FMC would get at least a little bit of her happy after beating the headmistress and going all in on the wendigos but to have her Finn leave… again. Like damn I need more tissues bc the tears are real.

I’m loving that’s it’s like slightly fast paced but not so much so that you lose the storyline or the complexity of the characters and the plot. It all just flows together like you can really imagine it in your head.

I’m loving how you can see each of the powers that Gabriella was blessed with by each Angel and how it shows in her powers and what she can do, it’s awesome. Plus having her own little kickass squad with her is great. I can’t say the way some of them screwed her in the beginning wasn’t messed up but now it’s like fate.

Some of them are ride or die and even tho you’re mostly learning about Gabriella I love how this book showcases the other characters and what they’re going through. Her whole team: Hannah, Remy, Luna, Trev, & Ezra you get these tidbits about their lives and what’s happened and it’s interesting to read how they came together. It flows so well.

All in all this book was great, the perfect second in a trilogy, gave me enough to keep coming back for more, which is exactly my plan right now as I move onto the third. Here’s to hoping Gabriella & Finn find their happily ever after, I’m a sucker for a love ending.

Awwww! I'm super pouty-faced right now. How did I not forsee that ending!? The twists keep you on your toes as the stakes keep ramping up. I'm so ready for the happily ever after but dying to watch it play out as well. This epic battle of good verses bad just never gives these characters an honest break as every action carries a hefty consequence.

The attraction between Fin and his Maka is delicious and tender. I can't wait to see them holed up in his cabin once this has all been concluded. The path of true love is indeed complicated and just so heartbreaking.

There are so many supporting characters to keep you entertained. From zingy one-liners to eye rolling antics, they're all so well-written!

I can't wait to delve into the series conclusion! It's going to be one unforgettable journey.

This was a dumpster fire of a book

It started ok. Book one was good…. Set it up for a potentially epic second book. And it was a complete flop.

The writing was all over the place. Nothing made sense. It was impossible to do things and then just like that folks were gone. Pages and pages of saving wendigos and in just a couple the original was taken care of. And SO much sleeping. I get the FMC sees things in her dreams and recovers while she sleeps, but it was completely set up in a bizarre way that no one would do in the middle of war or the situations they were in.

Trusting folks that kidnapped you and giving them ultimate power? Nope.

And the MMC leaving again at the end? No thanks. This book is just a mess. Makes me sad as it had so much potential!

Better than I expected.

I thought I'd be reading about a damsel in distress. Instead I read about the bravest & strongest Nephilim I have ever had the pleasure to read about! And don't forget about a love that transcends species & light & dark. And Hannah goes through some much needed growth. I do feel bad for what has to happen for it. The headmistress is quite a villain. I can't believe what all those people went through! Thank God Gabriella was there to help. I think at times Gabriella would be better off without Remy. She is very narcissistic. I just don't know how she puts up with her!

Would have given more, but like the majority of the second book in a series, the main characters were separated the whole time and reunited in bits and pieces. The intent was to keep readers, reading I get that, but I’m over the sequels lining up to do this bit. It made the book slow, and there was no real growth. The characters were present, but not in major scenes, only in the background and came out when needed. Getting some magical abilities did not mean growth. Sigh. May read the third, but I was too bored with the second, I was waiting for the end to finally come so I could be done.

So very good

I’m really enjoying the series. Can’t wait for the last book. I love the witty banter between the characters. You can’t help but love Remy as a character in the series. She has my vote for “bestest” friend. Though Hannah’s pretty cool too. The romance is sweet. With how the second book ends. I wonder how much Finn will appear in the third. I’m hoping he’ll appear a lot. I feel we still could learn more about their previous life.

Great book

Gabriella and Finn are soulmates. And you know what happens to those people... someone always wants to take it away. She is kidnapped, but not for the wrong reason. People are being held against their will and she is the key to freeing them. A powerful beast is being held, chained up in a dark place and the right hand of Lucifer is marching for the flaming sword. Who will save them now??

Its a great story with lots of twists and turns.

Gabriella and Finn's story continues in this epic tale. I loved how the book expanded on its characters and introduced new ones into the mix. Remy and Gabriella make the perfect BFF duo, I am in love with Remy's vivacious attitude. This book does not disappoint and I am counting down the days until the next one.

Oh my goodness!!!! My freaking heart 💔💔 the story line in this book is pretty amazing. Quite the fast moving storyline that makes you not want to focus on anything else except devouring each page to find out what happens next. Super intense! Not a lot of heat but it's a great story line. I can't even take the cliffhanger, book 3 needs to be here like now!!!

I really loved the first book in this series, although I had some problems with the time line stuff, I still enjoyed it a lot. In this second book, I enjoyed it, but felt like 70% of it was just filler. There wasn’t much development with the story or the characters, and it got to be really repetitive for me. I do still enjoy the concept a lot and I will be finishing the series.

Editing errors galore...

...spellings, homonyms, grammar, extra words, missing words. This book is a mess and then it became my least favorite book with the H and H fighting their battles without the other. Next book looks like more of the same. It is extremely rare for me, but I might actually put this series down unfinished.

Great follow up from the first book in the series. The story continues with more snarky comments and lots of action. It slowed down a couple times when the dialogue got a little silly between some of the characters, but all in all, it was still a really good read. Looking forward to reading book 3 in the end of this trilogy.

worth the read but wouldn’t reread.

I loved the first book. However, this went in a direction I was not entirely fond of. I struggled to get through the last 1/3 of the book. And found myself skimming through several chapters to keep my interest. It was still an enjoyable read and I love the characters!

amateur book with weak plot

I hate writing bad reviews, but this book, this whole series needs a good editor. The idea of the book is good which is why I read it, but there’s so many other books in this genre that I would recommend first.

Good 2nd book

Second book wasnt as good as the first but still a good story about Finn and Gabrelle the two main characters. The book has a solid storyline and the characters are well developed. There are even some funny one liners. Highly recommended.

All I can say at this point is: can this couple catch a frickin' break!

And I will add that the story is really fast-paced. So much happens that you can't turn the pages fast enough! Nail-biting!

The second book felt a bit rushed as so much happened and there was not enough time to savour all the revelations. Remy of course was so funny and her fabricated on again off again lover was fun to read. I would have liked more of a battle towards the end rather than the way it ended but that is just my preference. Hannah grew a lot through this latest book and even the so called dark angels were not that bad after all. The story had a lot of potential, it just failed to deliver in the end.

Good story. Little bit of language. Didn’t realize the final story isn’t out yet. So that’s a bummer. Ok for a teen audience but note the language.

Lost some interest about 20-30% of the way through, but wasn’t terrible. Just not going to finish the series. Not because it was terrible just because it wasn’t speaking to me
