I really cannot come up with anything negative to say except that perhaps an update is due. The environmental circumstances in Florida have changed a bit in the last eighteen years which might impact the population and conversation parts of the book. The introduction reflects the books age also, as they show actual film DSLR cameras. But truthfully it is an amazing book and I will be purchasing some of his other books representing the region's not covered in the Florida edition. Thank you Mr. Also and team for setting the bar so high!
I hope a new edition gets published! This field guide is so thorough and helpful. It just needs to update its taxonomy. For example, the Common Moorhen listed is now the Common Gallinule.
This is the best book for identifying Florida birds. It's almost time for the migratory birds to wing their way to FL. They'll arrive almost to the day, on October 15th. Best among them are Painted Buntings. I learned from this volume that they come from the NC and TX coasts. A "must have" book for Florida bird lovers.
I can't say that I read this from cover to cover, but I spent a lot of time with it last week as I tried to identify the exotic looking birds I was seeing while on vacation. Wow! Bird watching is great!
I love looking up the many beautiful birds we have in Florida. This book gives outstanding photos and details. I finally know how to tell a great blue heron from a tricolor heron!
