He's her brother's best friend. She’s loved him forever, but will old secrets—and a determined killer—destroy their chances for a happy ending?
Star Brannigan might know more about computers than men, but she’s certain her older brother was killed because of the dangerous ransomware program he and their friends thought they’d destroyed years ago. And now the murderer’s stalking her. There’s only one man she can turn to for help, former SEAL and Knight Tactical operative Ethan Hernandez, her brother’s best friend, an expert cybergeek, and the man she’s had a crush on since college. Years ago, winning his love would have been a dream come true. But that was before she betrayed him. Ethan has no idea she’s the one responsible for sending his life spinning in a new direction, but if the truth ever comes out, he’ll hate her. A hacker herself, she knows all too well that no secret remains hidden forever. Protecting sweet, sassy Star isn’t the hardest assignment Ethan’s ever taken on. Shielding his heart from her charms tops that list. She’s off-limits. Always has been. Always will be. She needs a big brother, not a boyfriend. Not that his desires matter. If they can’t stop the murderer trying to recreate the stunningly-destructive program they once created, neither he nor Star will have a future to worry about. Welcome to Hope Landing, a small town full of big secrets…and deadly lies. Join the action as the former SEALs of Knight Tactical Protection battle danger and tests of faith on the road to lasting love. A series of clean, inspirational action adventure romances, each guaranteed to lift your heart.
My review today is on the Romantic Suspense, No Landing. This is book 3 in the series Hope Landing Romantic Suspense. I have really enjoyed this series. Edie has become one of my favorite authors. This story is well written, action packed, and full of drama. Faith is an intricate part of this book. I know you are going to love it.
Years ago Star Brannigan, her brother, and a few other hackers took a dare and made a program they called Armageddon. When they realized what they had done they agreed to kill the program and never mentioning it again. Now her brother is dead and she is being threatened. She tries to contact her brother's best friend, one of the group, and her secret crush but he won't take her call. She heads across country to Hope Landing to talk to him and get his help. She can't do this alone but she must protect her secret.
Ethan Hernandez is the cyber tech guy for Knight Tactical. He is an ex-SEAL and a computer genius. He has been ignoring Star's calls because she is convinced her brother didn't commit suicide. As far as he's concerned she has lost it. He loves her like a sister but his feelings for her are far from brotherly. She shows up unexpectedly at his work place. He takes her for a slice of pie but isn't really listening. He finally tells her he just doesn't believe that Ragnar is more than a cyber threat. He's eating his pie trying to figure out how to get rid of her until a piece of chocolate silk pie lands in his face and slides down his shirt as she stalked out of the cafe. He finds a thumb drive she left behind; on it he finds that this girl is in trouble. It takes his team to save her just as the house she rented blows up.
A terrifying journey to keep the woman he loves safe as a mad hacker is out to destroy all the hackers in their group. God has a plan for these two, a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. A good plan and not for evil. Give Him your heart, give Him control, and watch Him turn your life around.
Fast paced action and nail biting suspense: I really enjoyed this 3rd book in the series and whilst it could be read as a standalone, there are a number of threads that continue and carry through from previous books. Star and Ethan were old college acquaintances and co-developers of a ransomware program that they thought had been destroyed. When it became evident that someone was reactivating the program and that she was in danger, Star turned to Ethan for help. Tensions were initially high between these two as they were opposites in many ways and each convinced that the other would never be interested in them. It was fun seeing Ethan mellow and how Star was able to work her way into his affections. I enjoyed the suspense and the pacing was good. I was kept on the edge of my seat by all of the secrets, dangers and unexpected twists and turns. I also really enjoyed the faith elements and how this was interwoven throughout the book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Spoilers - Star and Ethan were hacking buddies earlier in their lives, but have been separated for quite a while after the group was disbanded. Now their group is slowly being killed off, starting with her brother. They are trying to find out why and who, with the help of his current unit, Knight Tactical. Old crushes on each other are rising again, but she did something that will keep them apart forever when he finds out. The characters are terrific and the blend of unity and determination is amazing. The suspense throughout really pulls them all together as they find out their strengths and weaknesses with Star assisting. The team of hackers, Star and Ethan, bounce off ideas and work well together, noticed by everyone else there. Totally surprised by who the evil Ragnar was in the end. Terrific ending.... who is next to highlight?

I've enjoyed the other books in this series, but this one rubbed me the wrong way. At one point, the heroine doesn't like what the hero is saying, so she throws a pie in his face. She thinks about slapping him several times when he upsets her. At some point, the hero handcuffs the heroine to his vehicle to prevent her from coming inside with him to speak to a suspect.
It doesn't bother me if the hero and heroine don't get along all the time, but I draw the line at physical contact such as slapping or throwing things. Handcuffing the heroine to the car was wrong. I was incredibly angry with both of the MCs at that point and really couldn't see them having a romance. I'll keep reading the rest of the books in the series, because I did enjoy the earlier ones. This one just wasn't for me.

When Star Brannigan walks back into former SEAL and Knight Tactical operative, Ethan Hernandez’s life, she brings back memories of the past and dredges up old feelings. Star doesn’t come alone, however. Dogging her trail is a murderer bent on using a dangerous doomsday program Ethan, Star, and Star’s brother were involved in writing years ago while in college. When they realized the danger of their program, they trashed all copies. Now they know the truth; one copy survived.
Though there are a couple places where the continuity doesn’t flow and some editing would help, in all this is better written than the last book in this series and a fun read. If you like fast-paced suspenseful romance with quirky women and ex-military men, this series is a good choice.
I enjoyed No Landing. When Star discovers that someone is trying to resurrect a program that she, her late older brother, Ethan, and a few other hackers wrote and destroyed, Star turns to Ethan for help. Tensions are high between the two initially. As the Knight Tactical team investigates, not only does the body count begin to rise but so does the danger. This was a fast paced read with tensions, danger, and intrigue. I enjoyed the chemistry between Star and Ethan, and the author will keep you guessing whodunit until the end. I also enjoyed the developing relationships of Jack and Kelli and Austin and Lauren.
I am really enjoying this series, there is nothing better than mystery, suspense and group of people in love with Christ. Star has just come across some information her late brother hid just in case someone tried to restart a computer program they created years ago. She must get to Ethan for help, if this program is completed the hacker could do a lot of damage. Character development is great, it was good to catch up with the couples from the first two books. This book has arson, murder, attempted murder, attempted kidnapping and so much more.
Star changed the entire course of Ethan’s life. She thought he’d never forgive her. What she didn’t realize was that she’d actually saved him. Now it’s turn to save hers. Together can they stop the program that never should’ve been created? Can they stop second guessing each other long enough to see what God has planned? Action, adventure, brave, smart, hunky SEALS, beautiful, intelligent ladies, and above all, our Lord God, Who loves us more than we’ll ever comprehend. What more could you ask for in a book?
This is another really good book full of danger, suspense, and romance. Before Ethan became a member of the SEAL team he had helped create a program that would be dangerous in the hands of the wrong people. It was thought to have been destroyed but now people are being threatened and even killed trying to restart the program. Star was the sister of his partner and is a cyber security specialist being targeted. Will Ethan be able to keep her safe and stop the program from being released?
This story by Edie James was another one I just didn't want to put down. Only a few typos so that was a win. I liked the plot and how it played out. These two MCs were super cute and I loved their interactions. The faith element is well-done, too. I knew who the villain was early on, but watching them figure it out was great. I'll be reading more in this series and highly recommend it to inspirational, suspense romance readers.
Star has a strong connection with Ethan. But she isn't sure wants to revisit her past. Her brother's death left the two of them at odds. But when she finds herself in danger, can she trust Ethan and his team to keep her safe? This book is a part of Hope Landing series. While it could be understood as a stand alone, I think it is more enjoyable if all books are read in order. The book is clean suspense with faith elements and a bit of romance.
Edie James writes with such a force that you do not want to put it down. Ethan and Star have known each other most of their lives but the Lord has more for them than they could have hoped. Though some hard trials and many years separate them, they meet again to challenge themselves and thrive as God wanted.
star is a computer hacker and so was her brother before he died. when they where in college he roomed with ethan and along with some other created a program that was very dangerous and then deleted it but know someone is trying to bring it back. star has to go and find ethan so he can help her but also protect her. this is a very good story
This story dives into the world of hackers and computer control of the things we use in our daily lives. If someone controls everything via the internet, how can anyone be truly safe? With a ruthless mind pushing to get a computer code finalized to control the world, no one’s in the clear.
Ethan and Star made a fun couple and I hope to see more of them later in the series.
I told myself that I would only read a few chapters but I ended up reading the whole book. The book just sucked me it. It was so wonderful. And when you find out the bad person it shocked me. I do hope there is more.
Another well written book that is the total package not only do you have romance drama and suspense but there is a gentleness underlying the story This isn't my usual style of books but I have now read all three books in this series and have enjoyed everyone
A suspenseful read that kept me guessing about the “bad guy.” I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Ethan and Star. So much from the past to resolve if they hope to move forward. Love these books in the Hope Landing series!
What a fantastic series. I want more books like these!!!! I love the suspense, the awesome guys who know without a doubt where their help comes from and the almost impossible cases they solve!!!!!
This is Ethan and Star's story. The mystery and action in this book are very entertaining. The romance is clean and the Christian message is so nicely sprinkled in. It is a very enjoyable book!!! I love this series.
Love all these books, Great storylines, Lots of twists and turns to keep you reading into the night, It’s nice to read entertaining Christian novels, Better than a TV movie.
They made a code to shut down the world as college students because they were told it couldn't be done. But when the decided to delete it, someone never did. Good clean romance.
Another great book in the Hope Landing series. Fast paced action with just enough tension and twists. Fun characters draw you in to the hunt for an evil hacker as you root for Star and Ethan’s relationship with God and each other. Looking forward to Patrick’s story.
Thought the novel a little slow at first, but the action ramped up. A sweet love story wrapped up in adventure. Some readers might be turned off by the religious bent of the narrative, but the author’s beliefs help to support the story. Recommended
You never know what is going to happen with a squad of men, especially when it comes to women. This book just made these couples stronger and stronger. Don’t put it down until you read the last word. Enjoy it.
