This is the second book in the Searching for Love Series and is David and Elena's story. This is a forbidden/taboo romance. He's the father of one of her students and off limits. To top things off he's older and has two daughters. Their attraction is strong and they find it hard to stay away from each other. Their relationship is definitely a roller coaster that's up and down or fast and slow. The drama is strong when the ex reappears and wants a second chance. Who does she choose? What are his daughters reactions? Does it cause problems with her job? This was a well written book with strong, well developed characters and an entertaining story. I read this as an arc and voluntarily chose to write a review.

Six months ago Elena's world was turned upside down when her boyfriend of three years ended their relationship. She has been moping about him ever since with her friends have tried to tell her that she is better off without him. Luckily her work as a middle school teacher fulfils her and helps take her mind off things. Until a parent-teacher conference and she meets David, who is Amy's father. They chat about Amy and that she lost her mother five years ago. Getting his email address to send book suggestions for his younger daughter they head their separate ways. But Elena is unable to stop thinking about him.

Despite the age gap, widower status and kids Elena can't help but say yes to dinner with him. Not sure if it is a date or not until he points out that he likes her and wants to get to know her. Things go well and they sleep together, however, Elena puts the brakes on things until they meet again at a school event. Asking her out again they to be getting on well and take things back to his place. However, with two children to consider can this really work? Or should Elena be sticking with a safe, comfortable dating option?

The Choices of Life and Love

As a professional—a teacher with a master’s degree and several years of teaching experience—27-year-old Elena Ramirez, a petite, curvy woman with dark curly hair and beautiful chocolate eyes, believed that her professional life was on the right pathway. And, she had thought that her personal life was also moving forward in a positive direction. She believed that her relationship with her steady boyfriend, Logan, was about to move forward into that of being a committed couple, sharing a residence, and maybe, eventually, marriage. She wanted to believe that she had found her “soulmate.” So, what’s a girl to do when “the one” chooses not to be “the one”?

As a middle school English teacher, Elena was not a risk taker; she had always been careful and thoughtful in her choices. As an adult entrusted with managing the educational and emotional growth of 7th graders—12-year-old children—the dedicated teacher had long ago developed into an individual who carefully weighed out all her decisions—both her professional classroom decisions and her own personal relationship decisions. And so, when her boyfriend of 3 years informed her that he “needed space,” which really translated into “wanted to date other people,” he broke Elena’s heart, shattering her assumptions about love and making her question her ability to make good decisions in romantic relationships.

And so, when the conscientious teacher, after meeting David Russo, the widowed father of Amy, one of her students, at a scheduled conference she was impressed. When he later contacted her asking that she join him for dinner, she doesn’t know if she is capable of judging whether “dinner” really means an extension of the “parent-teacher conference” or if it means a “date with a hot older man”.

Learning more about David Russo, Elena is drawn to the handsome, older widowed doctor with his sandy brown hair and beautiful green eyes. But, she is torn by her professional judgement that informs her that a teacher should not date the parent of one of her students and by her personal judgement which longs to explore her relationship with this compelling man and his children. And, the more time Elena spends with David, the more convinced she is that he is “the one”, but she is still concerned about how David’s children—one whom she teaches—will handle their father’s relationship with a woman who is not their mother, So, when her ex decides to unexpectedly re-assert himself in Elena’s life offering to give her what he had denied her before—love and marriage—just as she is beginning to feel confident again about her judgment, Elena is more confused than ever.

Kelly Meyers tells a passionate story of a young woman seeking a committed relationship who also a struggles to leave her past insecurities and doubts behind. The tale of learning to accept one’s own judgment as the pathway to embracing and fully accepting who one is as an individual is told with sensitivity that affirms the worth of the individual and the ability to grow and accept all parts that make us who we are.

Elena is a mild mannered teacher. She is a beautiful woman, but is very low-key, she's not flashy at all. She had a boyfriend, Logan, for 3 years until he decided things were too boring and broke up with her. She has been pining away for him ever since.
David is a parent of one of her students. He's a bit older than her, a widower and a successful doctor. He also happens to be extremely attractive.

They meet at his daughter's parent teacher conference. Elena can't stop noticing attracted she is to him. She doesn't think he feels the same way, being he's more mature and probably thinks she's too young. Even when he calls to ask her to dinner, she's not sure if it's a date or just to talk about his daughter's progress. It's definitely a date.

Their attraction is strong and their emotional connection increases quickly. Elena always plays by the rules, dating a student's parent is not something she would ever do. She's not sure she should be doing this. They both need to consider how his children would feel.
Is what they're feeling love or lust? Can they overcome whatever hurdles they have to face?

This book was great! Just enough angst, kept me glued to it. I found myself cheering on for the characters!!

The second book of Kelly Myers' Searching For Love series, Breaking all the Rules is a sweet and sultry romance. When David Russo walks into Elena Ramirez' English classroom for a parent-teacher conference regarding his eldest daughter, neither of them are expecting the instant attraction they each feel. He's a thirty-eight year old widower, a surgeon, and most importantly a single father - and of one of her students! - all of which give Elena pause. Not one to jump into anything - especially after a fairly recent devastating break-up from a long-term relationship - she considers the pros and cons when he calls to invite her to dinner. She goes, not even sure it is a date, and prepared to walk away if it is. However, she never could have anticipated the real connection the two share.

This novel is a love story, but also an introspective journey as Elena navigates a fledgling relationship with all of the baggage they both carry. It is a well-written story with wonderful characters. David is the quintessential book boyfriend, and Elena's friendships with Bea, Marianne and Zoe are authentic and so much fun. A fantastic sophomore novel in this new Kelly Myers' series.

SEARCHING FOR LOVE: COMPLETE SERIES COLLECTION By Kelly Myers

It's a collection of four love stories surrounding the lives of four friends.

😊What i liked -

✔ Enemies To Lovers/Frenemies With Benefits/Workplace Romance/Second Chance/Forbidden Love/Fake Relationship.
✔ I loved the character buildup of Zoe, Elena, Micheal, Zach and David.
✔ I loved how different the four girls were from each other and the bond they all shared with each other.
✔ Through all the series you will find a lot of drama. heartaches and instant attraction.
✔ My favourite books in the series were Against All Odds and Breaking All The Rules.

🤔What could have been better -

✔ I did not like Leo as a character at all, plus I felt no spark between him and Marianne.
✔ I liked Marianne as a side character but not as an MC. She seemed so strong in the other books but in her own book I did not see that strength.
✔ I did not feel there was any chemistry between Bea and Zach too.

📚Who Should read :

Beginners
Romance Lovers

📈My Rating : 3.5/5

P.s- My rating for Against All Odds and Breaking All The Rules as individual books is 4.

Thank you, Kelly Myers, for a copy

This book was so good I loved every minute of it it’s just a shame it ended. Elena and David’s story just feels so real it could be you in these pages. Elena is a middle school teacher that’s just be dumped by her now ex boyfriend Logan for by boring, now her friends are tell her she needs to go out and find someone new but on the night of the parent-teacher meetings she meets the father of two her students and the attraction is instantaneous for them both and so after a hot night together Elena calls it off because she has crossed the line and could get into some serous trouble. But as it turns out neither can stay away and when the get caught by his daughter David calls it off between them. How can something that feels so right and amazing between them be so wrong in others eyes. Do they move forward and have what they both want or do they let others pull them apart.

Elena is a school teacher that is recently getting over a relationship. David is a single father of two and a doctor. They meet when he comes to the parent teacher conference at his daughter's school to talk about her. Sparks fly between him and Elena and he wants to see where things may lead with them. He calls her to set up a meeting but she isn't sure if its a date or an actual meeting about his daughter. However once they are together he lets her know its a date. Things heat up between them and soon they are back at Elena's place for the night. Will this become something more between them? Will this cause issues with his children?

This is an amazing story that will draw you in from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Elena Ramirez is a middle school teacher, still pining over her ex-boyfriend, Logan. She just can’t let go and wants him back. When she meets David, an older man with two daughters, they are both attracted to each other, but parents are off-limits!

David and Elena have one remarkable night together, which Elena can’t deal with and she doesn’t want to continue their relationship. Yet whenever they are around each other, such as at a school fundraiser event, they still feel the draw to each other. And again, Elena’s thoughts are on her ex-boyfriend, despite her friends advising her to pursue her new man. But when Logan wants Elena back, she will have to make a decision on choosing the past or facing how she feels about a future with David. Which choice will she make? Which man will make her happy?

I really enjoyed this book. It is written in the first person and for the most part it deals with Elena’s thoughts about meeting David, a medical doctor, at a parent/ teacher meeting. His older daughter, Amy, is in Elena’s 7th grade English class. They are attracted to each other immediately but he is 11 years older than Elena and she has a rule never to date parents of her students. The attraction is not to be denied however. David’s wife died several years ago and Elena has had a hard time since her boyfriend broke up with her. This book follows her thoughts, how she feels when Amy seems to disapprove and Logan, her ex boyfriend manages to cause problems. The author does this very well. Elena reminded me somewhat of my young self so the story really resonated with me. I really wanted an happy outcome. I do recommend this book. I obtained this book from BookFunnel for an honest review.

Playing it Safe

Elena is a middle school teacher who is very regimented. She loves that she can influence young children. She wants to help. She's recently broken up with her boyfriend of three years, it's been six months, but she's still in a funk. She wants him back. In walks a single parent, David, who has a daughter in her English class. She feels in instant connection, but she's so overwhelmed with doing the right thing, she doesn't know what to do. She's almost neurotic in all her excuses to not move forward with David. All the excuses actually overwhelmed me as well. Throw in a recent breakup scenario and you've got more thinking. Once she made a decision, it was a quick solution from thereon in.

This was a good book. I just wish it was told from dual point of view. This is the second book in the Searching for love series and this is Elenas story. Elena is heartbroken over her break-up with Logan. She is trying to move on but isn't doing very well by herself or with her friends encouragements. She only seems to come to life when she meets one of her students dad. David is every womans wish come true just ask Elena's female colleagues. Elena and David have an instant connection. Things seem to take a few twists that may spell then end of them before they even fully begin. I recommend this book.

This was a pretty cute story. David is just too sweet and so passionate about wanting a relationship with Elena. Elena is wet and caring, though I did want to shake her a few times about how she feels about her ex. One of the best parts of the book is the relationship Elena has with her friends as they are always there for her, and supports her unconditionally. The story line was entertaining though I felt that the story rambles a bit in some parts. This book was enjoyable to read!

I rate this book 3.5 stars.

Elena is a middle school teacher. She is still not over her ex, she plays it safe. So David shows up for a parent teacher conference and turns Elena's safe world upside down. David is older and has two children, he is a parent to her students. She cannot date a parent. I loved this story about love and what she thinks is wrong. It was well written and a great addition to the series. I loved the characters and can relate to people I know that are like that. Great book easy read. It was truly enjoyable.

The moment Elena and David meet you can sense the chemistry seeping off the pages of the book. I really enjoyed reading this book and loved the characters so much that i couldn't put the book down once i started reading it.
Heartbroken Elena has always played it safe and never taken risks but the moment widower David walks into her classroom her whole world is tilted.
Even though she worries about what the teachers, students and his daughters would say if they find out that she is dating a parent.....she cant help herself as she is drawn to him...

I like strong independent FM characters and Elena is just not it she's to hung up on her past relationship with Logan a complete tool who treated her like crap to the point she doesn't value herself ugh so sad. And when the perfect guy comes around she pushes him away David a widow who's child is in Elena's class he instantly likes her and hes not turned of by her hot and cold attitude such a patient nice guy. There is just to much angst in this book for me to give it a 4 stars.

While I liked this book I can't say loved it. This was a bit disappointing because I am a huge fan of the forbidden romance trope but I found it hard to connect with this couple. I think for me there were too many stress points on their relationship. This made it hard for me to get invested in this couple. In total I thought it was a good book but it just did not click with me. This is my unprejudiced, elective review.

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.

This is a well-written older man/forbidden romance, David is the parent of one of Elenas students, he's a widowed single dad to two delightful little girls. Elena is coming off a break up from a serious relationship but there is just something about David that pulls her. There are so many complications to overcome to get their HEA, sweet story, wonderful characters.

Elena and David's story is one of instant connection for two broken people. She is broken up over her long term boyfriend Logan, whens he meets David the parent of one oe of her student. He is a single dad and a bit older and she is a teacher, the story has a little forbidden touch to it. But this what makes it work so well. Nothing will be easy for them to reach their HEA. But these are amazing characters with a great story to tell. I volunteered to review this arc.

Elena is an English teacher in Middle School. She is pining over her break-up with her former boyfriend. While having a parent-teacher conference she meets David, Amy's dad. There seems to be an attraction between them. She is the teacher of his daughter, that is a line she's not sure she should cross. Those feelings are there. Elena's friends are there for her along the way. Problems arise though. Will it all work out? Loved this book.

This was a good story. I loved the dual, first person point of view, which is always a deal breaker for me.
