Hunted for information he doesn’t have, Drake’s only option is to run. Drake is used to being the hunter, not the hunted. He spends his time destroying hellships, not fleeing from humans. But everything has changed now.
The Phoenix Conglomerate and the most feared pirate across a thousand systems are both convinced Drake has learnt the secret of how hellships are created… and both want that prize.
So, Drake and the Dagger’s crew must run, and Drake is wrestling with a different secret. One which endangers his entire crew. One he knows he must never share… and which is likely to lead to the deaths of everyone under his command.
I find that in some series, the middle book(s) sometimes contain alot of fluff. Things that have no bearings on the story so far. This is not one of these. It's pretty much continuous action. I can't wait to read part 3 and see how Drake deals out the news of Azimuth to his crew, what happens with the Crimson Dragon, the Phoenix Conglomerate and any other acolytes they run into.
The story is good but it didn't feel as good as the first book. The space battle were not as intense and immersive. It was good to learn more about the captain and his crew but it didn't really in great details
I picked up Hellfire Tyranny because the first one was really good. The idea of hunting down evil and sentient space ships is right down my alley. The main character is forced to make some really hard choices between saving innocents or the safety of his crew. It deals a lot with his interaction with the hellship which only made me want more.
