It's Halloween night. After visiting a friend for dinner, Rachel just wants to get home and relieve the babysitter. But she's going to regret catching the last train...
Enthralling short story by Gorevan. Short punchy sentences will leave you breathless. Imagine catching the last train home late at night. Alone in carriage. Then lights go out. Sounds like a nightmare.
Can't wait to read more from this author. I have found a good one here!
This was really spooky. I wouldn't read it on your own in the dark at a deserted train station. Or at home in an empty house. I played with a Ouija board in my teens/twenties. Even if you don't believe it plays with your head. I could feel Rachel's terror. Loved it.
Another stellar short story from the master of crime fiction. The one thing I really like about Alan Gorevan's work is that he wastes no time on formalities and jumps straight into the action. I read Last Train in one big gulp. It is electrifying and suspenseful with a twist you won't see coming. Despite it being an eerie, macabre tale, there is still some of that trademark humour that Gorevan is so famous for. I've spent a lot of time in London and have often been forced to take the last train back. Reading this story literally chilled me to the bone. Gorevan is obviously as talented in writing horror as he is in writing crime. Read this story and you'll find that all the scary Halloween films you've watched fade in comparison. This one is a sure shot winner. Unmissable.
Second book from the author and love his writing style, it has a sense of chilling in it. Amazing twists, short yet a story equal to a long book. Can't wait to read more of his work.
I worked for the railways for 6 years. Stations and trains late at night can be eerie, spooky places. Especially those you are on in the company of only one or two others passengers.
In this short story, Alan Gorevan manages to convey the overt feeling of discomfort, terror and a palpable eerie sensation.
An enjoyable short story and one that will make you think about taking the last train alone at night.
'Last Train', another very creepy, hold your breath, short story from Alan Gorevan. The dark atmosphere and tension, makes you feel like you're in this story. He's one of my go to authors. There is never any downtime in his books. Always fast-paced, in your face, frightening action. This short story is a Halloween treat you don't want to miss! Highly Recommend! 5 Stars!
The perfect read for Halloween eve. I really enjoyed this short story. It was eerie with a thrill. I have read this story and The Hostage by this author and loved them both.
