In order to stay alive in advance of a blockbuster company merger, the team must discover an under-the-radar sparkling wine that has the power to transcend Champagne itself!

reference wine 2000 Chateau d'Yquem Ygrec faint sweetness of noble rot

In contrast, this 2007 R de Rieussec white Bdx SSB while made in a Château that does noble rot wine, is intensely dye in the wool dry. Herbs & wild flowers. Wild flora planted in its natural form. Relaxed setting for an English country garden laid out bf a nice, cozy manor. This small natural garden feels natural, entertaining, even a bit refined. One can imagine picking lemon balm & mint for an early afternoon herbal tea party shaded fr the sun.

Blind tasted merlot/cab sauv blend. 2007 Lamothe-Vincent Saint Vincent Bdx Superieur. Bright, bountiful aroma of cherries & blackcurrants. Scent of a well kept field. Like your fave mug for daily use. Not a luxury mug but as you use it, you've grown attached to it & you take care of it. It's part of your daily life.

#243 flames, kindled in an odyssey, burn on in the heart
1870 bttl of Chateau Leoville Las Cases tt started Yutaka down the path of wine. An epiphany so dramatic it changed the course of Yutaka's life.
A worn musty aroma but still alive w/ unique dark fruit aroma of Bdx. The 🔥 of life still haven't been snuffed out. A vast barren land. A jagged mountain spewing smoke. No hope to be found. Traces of a city, of springs & trees, but everything's dried up. An aged hawk turns into the mythical Phoenix. Youth & strength. The vibrancy of something only just born. A quenching rain. Af 140 yrs it's retained its life & youth & every moment of tt time has been chiseled into its features. Where the bird of life flies, something must lie beyond. A truly superior wine can take you on a journey across time & even space. If you walk the path the phoenix traversed ... there will be no turning back on wine.

Marie Hayama part ways but Maki Yamashita the stewardess returns & serves this champagne to Shizuoka. Velvety, delicate bubbles on the tongue. Graceful mineral feel of a fashionable mademoiselle walking on heels down Champs Elysees.

Issei Tomine blind tastes his sister Sarah
Spumante, v pretty bubbles, clear lemon color, transparent as crystals. Bubbles so light like little jewels. 👃 a bit matured, not completely fresh but tt makes it gentle, soothing on the heart. Sun shines through the trees. The soft, warm sun of Spring. Afternoon w/ the young grass waving. I'm reading a book alone. Not really thinking abt the story, just reading my fave passages over and over. That kind of boring but laid back afternoon spent rocking on a hemp hammock curled up w/ a book. Enjoying a peaceful moment.

Like the previous volume, this one is dominated by Shizuku with only a brief (but significant) Issei appearence.
Shizuku continues his quest to better understand his father. He stays in Bordeaux and continues building his understanding of wine.
When he finally returns to Japan, he learns that Taiyo Beer is likely joining forces with another company. Because the other company has an established wine division, Shizuku and his coworkers are concerned that the merger will eliminate their fledgling wine concern.
It all leads to a blind tasting competition focusing on affordable sparkling wines which is judged, obviously, by famous wine critic, Issei.
Shizuku continues his quest to better understand his father. He stays in Bordeaux and continues building his understanding of wine.
