Three Bear’s life was not unusual for a Native in that time. He had lost his wife and daughter a year earlier to one of the many diseases brought by the white man. Sleeping Fox, his son, was the one thing keeping him sane. The boy was growing into a fine young Warrior and getting smarter with each passing day. However, the man’s life was again filled with overwhelming sadness when he learned that Sleeping Fox had been stolen by the very people who had killed his family.Sally couldn’t wait for the sun to go down and the end of the day to arrive. The piles of uniforms seemed endless and there was little hope of things getting better any time soon. There was no chance of a happy life for the hard-working laundry girl. She was lonely and resolved to return to the east as soon as possible. Her uncle, the Commander of the Fort, unaware of his own bigotry, decided to help Sally by giving her a child. Not just any child. No, he had his men steal a Native boy from a nearby village. Sally was appalled by the “gift” and that her uncle could be so insensitive as to rip a child from his family without any thought of the boy’s happiness.Conflicting visions muddied the waters for the Warrior who already had issues with believing in “fate.” He was a firm believer in his abilities and in free will. The medicine woman’s advice was vague at best.As soon as Sally saw the boy, her motherly instinct caused her to understand that she would take extensive risks to return the boy to his family. Three Bears, blaming Sally, finds he can’t stand the sight of her, despite her good intentions and his son’s complete trust in the woman.Walking away from the boy would be the most difficult decision of Sally’s life.Placing trust in dreams would be the most difficult decision of Three Bear’s life. Can an angry Warrior on the verge of losing everything he holds dear, and a lonely white woman with nothing to lose, make Sleeping Fox’s life whole again?
This author never fails to blow me away!! Her talent is beyond measure. She is what I refer to as a storyteller. She can pull you into the story and you feel as if you are there. That takes talent. This is the 7th book in the series, and each book gets better and better! Three Bear's had lost his wife and daughter due to diseases brought around them by the white men. Sleeping Fox his son was what he lived for. He is growing into a fine young Warrior. Then his son is stolen by the same people who killed his wife and daughter. Sally was a laundry girl at the fort and her uncle was the Commander.
She was lonely and wanted to return to the East. Her uncle kidnapped Three Bears to give her a child to care for. Sally is upset that her uncle took him from his family. She decided to somehow get him back to his family. Can they get him back to his family? Can this possibly be a happy ending for both Sleeping Fox and his father? Will this be the love and family Sally so desperately wants? I highly recommend this book!!
