A book of Terse Verse by Bruce McMillan is made up of two monosyllabic words that sound alike on each page accompanied by a photograph that relates. It is a simple way to introduce rhyme with fun images showing a day at the beach. After reading it a couple times my littles were finishing my reading and taking over. Now we are inspired to write our own!

It is a decent book for teaching vocabulary, albeit limited of course by making sure the words rhyme. That could be a useful mnemonic though. My main issue is with the "wet pet" photo, as it shows no actual wet pet but just people sitting on a lifeguard tower. It seemed to be an inside joke.

A collection of 14 rhymes, each made up of 2 words that rhyme. There is an accompanying photograph.

I use this book with my kindergartners. I show them the picture and let them figure out “the two word poem.”
