From the world of the hit series CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA comes MADAM SATAN. The Queen of Hell has had enough playing second fiddle to the Devil himself and is ready to take matters into her own hands! Will Madam Satan prove herself to be the most powerful being of the Underworld? Find out in this terrifying one-shot tale!
Girls just wanna have fun. So what's a firey sorceress to do after she's seduced Satan, killed him off, and conquered Hell?
Turns out, bureaucracy might just be what makes Hell...well, Hell. Once the thrill of being in charge wears off, the reality that being in upper management there is just as terrible as anywhere else sets in.
Looking back, Madam Satan realizes that the only time she was ever truly happy was when she was torturing Sabrina back on Earth. Time for a road trip!
I got this during an Archie sale so I could hit the minimum amount required to get 35% off. It was worth it, though. Madam Satan takes care of business in hell until she decides it's time to go mess with Sabrina again. That's that. It's a single issue monthly comic so it's thinner than a teenage girl with an eating disorder.
The feel reminds me of Sandman: Season of Mists. Speaking of Sandman, Julius Ohta's art would not have looked out of place in Neil Gaiman's masterwork. Overall, I liked it despite the brevity. It did what it was supposed to do, which was make me want to buy the next few issues of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Three out of five stars.
I liked this a lot, but as a one-shot it didn't work as well as a full series about Madam Satan would. The ending left me a little confused. I really miss the early days of Archie Horror.
(My copy is not pictured on GR: Comic Kingdom (Canada) variant cover with beautiful pin-up style art by Nathan Szerdy.)
Eliot Rahal does beautiful work here, never seen hell look more entrancing. Here we see the new ruler of the underworld see the troubles of being the one in power, the highest position, but one without liberties.
So...let's talk about this. I didn't like it as much as I wanted to. I've always found the character of Madam Satan intriguing, and I've always wanted to read more about her. This one shot seemed like it would be a good, brief story about her and her intentions. And it was a brief story, but it was also...confusing, particularly in the last few pages. I still don't understand what Uzza was trying to do.
Also, let's talk about
Confusing bits aside, this was a decent one shot. I liked the art. It just didn't grab me the way I wanted it to.
This one shot comic seems like a transition book from an old story arc to a new one. I have not read any of the "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" comics yet. However, this book does a really good job explaining who Madam Satan is and her relationship to Sabrina Spellman without being wordy. Big bonus points for that. However, Madam Satan whines alot as the new ruler of hell. A bit out of character for someone who just became the leader of the underworld.
The art is nice, but the dull color scheme could use some vibrancy to add punch to the violent images of hell.
The backstory of Iola, AKA Madame Satan, and her grudge against the Spellmans. And… her newest plan for revenge… 𓈒⠀𓂃⠀⠀˖⠀𓇬⠀˖⠀⠀𓂃⠀𓈒 ❤️pros: The art is amazing and the character are super compelling!! 💔cons: It did wrap up well, but it was a bit slow to start. And just overall not my favorite Sabrina comic! ⭐️ rating: 4/5
I have always liked Sabrina and completed the series last year, this addition is just perfect. The Queen of Hell is evil, elegant, and slick like a snake, but at the same time she's likeable and exciting. I can't wait for novel two and can't wait to see what devious acts she'll do.
I enjoyed the story but wanted just a little bit more lead in time for it. A bit more background on Madam Satan because even though we had met the character before more would have better.
If the story continues we know what her objective is and it is nothing good for the students of Baxter High.
well that was a little peak behind the curtain, in this case hell. It isn't all that it is cracked up to be, being the king of hell or in this case queen. Feels like a little prequel to the chilling adventures of Sabrina.
It’s weird that the first Chilling Adventures of Sabrina-related publication to come out in years is a tangentially related one-shot, but I’ll take what I can get. Madam Satan is still a great character design with the whole skulls-for-eyes thing.
I started this and then stopped as I couldn't bear to see Madam Satan loose the throne of hell. AGAIN. But I went back and finished it and thought it was fun and a fitting end.
Pretty cool. I don't remember the last issues of the Sabrina comic to know if this spun out of them or what. But it's not that important. It was a cool issue, with her wrestling with the fact that ruling hell is not actually all it's cracked up to be. I thought for sure that the demon lady urging her on was going to be Lucifer or one of his disciples in disguise, or just someone with their own agenda trying to get Madam Satan off the throne. That would have made a lot more sense. The ending was very anticlimactic because of that misstep. Oh well. The art was fantastic, very vivid.
