Man, this was long awaited for me. Every time a new volume comes up, I get filled with happiness. Vol. 14 is mainly a setup for the final arc—the national games—and after the high-stakes climax of the last volume, this felt like the perfect breather and introduction into what's to come.
The first few pages are decent, but then the pace picks up into what’s probably one of the most memorable moments in the entire manga: Sakuragi training one-on-one with Coach Anzai. And that glimpse into Anzai’s past? So good.
The artwork is mesmerizing as usual—Inoue will have me staring at a panel for a solid minute in awe before I can even turn the page. The detail, the emotion, the motion—it’s all there.
All in all, a very, very solid volume.
