I absolutely loved this so much! This is my second rebirth novel and this doesn't disappoint me. I actually expected a lot of angst because I experienced it in my first rebirth novel, and though the angst here is not major, there were few times that I felt my heart ached. But overall, this novel is fluffy and sweet.
Bai Lang (MC), after getting betrayed by his friends, family and lover in his past life and was pushed to his last breath, he was then given a chance to start over again 10 years prior to his death. His relationship with Qiu Qian (ML) in his past life was actually not that good. He was constantly offered to be the latter's kept lover whenever he needed money for his family's debt and because of the feeling of being repressed and cornered by Qiu Qian, he didn't really have a good thought about him. But after his death, he only realized that when no one was there when he died, Qiu Qian was the only person who mourned for him. Their relationship in his second life also didn't start in a positive light, but what I love is how their feelings progressed from there, from being a 'paid lover' to being a real one.
Qiu Qian is a possessive partner but he NEVER forced Bai Lang into doing things he never wanted. They have a great communication in their relationship. At first, because of the idea of his rebirth and what happened in his past life, Bai Lang always kept his feelings to himself, but Qiu Qian is a straightforward guy. Though he's not eloquent enough in saying his feelings, he can still be blunt and sincere about it. So gradually, they established a very healthy communication in their relationship. They talked with each other and discussed things like an adult. There's no unnecessary misunderstanding and drama between them. They sincerely trust each other. They have a very sweet and fluffy relationship and I'm all for it! And Qiu Qian is a very supportive lover. When Bai Lang wanted to do something, he wouldn't stop him, instead he would stand by his side and support him. He would only interfer if it might affect Bai Lang's health, but most of the time, he's very encouraging. I really love their relationship so much!!
Also, introducing Qiu Qian's son, Xiaohai, was one of the best things that happened in this novel. He's an adorable, sweet little cinnamon roll that everyone would definitely adore!! He is the sunshine of both Qiu Qian and Bai Lang and he completed the harmonious family of three. I also find it so heart melting whenever he clings himself to his Ah Bai. His cuteness would make one wants to adopt him!!
Aside from the fluffiness of the family of three, there would also be a lot of face-slapping moments that would really satisfy everyone. And also, don't forget to read the extra chapters as well. We've got to see a short time-skip of the kids Xiaohai and Rong Zan in their teenager year and it's absolutely lovely!! Everyone should read this!! I highly recommend this novel to literally everyone!!
I'm glad I picked this up. After so many sweet and light novels, I needed a bit of drama and tears to unwind 😂.
The plot was not the best, but I can't say it wasn't enjoyable. It's unusual for transmigration novels to have so many mishaps. I liked it. Normally, everything goes smoothly for the MC from the beginning because of some casualties or plain luck. In this one, it took years for MC to achieve his goal in his acting career and to get revenge. He didn't suffer (much), but things were not easy either.
On the other hand, I don't think I have read about a couple like this before. They were everything I didn't like about romance books. Somehow, they made it work for me. By the end of the story, I was hooked on their dynamics. Their relationship was a bit toxic if I'm being honest.
The book mentions a few delicate subjects that may hurt some sensibilities, so beware. There's mention of rape, toxic relationships, physical and emotional abuse, etc. But not with the main characters. Their relationship started with a contract, but the change to an actual loving relationship was gradual and not rushed.
Oh, and there's a kid. One of them has a sweet baby from a past relationship. I know some readers don't like this type of plot so I'll take your worries: the mom didn't show up, and there's no drama with him. They actually got closer because of him. He is the soul of this book 😍.
This felt longer than it actually was, the author spent a lot of time giving details and backgrounds to characters and past events that were relevant to the story but tended to drag on for a bit. Other than that, Rebirth of a Movie Star was a really sweet story about second chances, I loved the chemistry between Bai Lang (the MC) and Qiu Qian (the ML), the latter was playful and aggressive without being overbearing and the former was innocent but also stubborn and sassy; their interactions were spicy (though the love scenes were fade to black, sadly) but also honest. I absolutely adored Qiu XiaoHai, Qiu Qian's son, and his moments with Bai Ling, his dad and Rong Zan were so cute and he just upped the wholesomeness of this book by 1000%. Would have loved to see more of his future with Rong Zan though.
The drama in this book was just the right amount, the MC and ML didn't seek to destroy everyone or anything like that, they dished out revenge to those who deserved it (particularly the ones who wronged Bai Lang in his past). I wish we could have found out what happened to certain people after being chastised but I'm sure they're where they belong... I also really appreciated that through it all, Bai Lang found closure and his own "found family" with Qiu Qian, Qiu XiaoHai, Er Hong, the Rong family and others, allowing for a satisfying ending. (The extras were really good as well! I teared up in one of them.)
Disclaimer: I did read a english translation online so im not going to rate this book since i don’t think that would be fair to the author since it’s not an official translation (though i do rate translated books that are officially licensed).
tho idk how i would even rate this book anyway because it was my i-just-got-home-from-work read that i definitely wasn’t analyzing for quality (not saying it was bad or anything!!! i’m usually pretty critical tho and this time i wasn’t)
i loved the characters but i really wish we got more of qiu qian. why is bai lang different to him than everyone else he was with? what’s his backstory? like i love him in theory (especially considering that he’s apparently an extremely good fisherman 🐠) but i wanted more. also i think what they did to bai lang’s ex was way too extreme.
i initially read this for family fluff and that’s what i got so no complaints here! also qiu qian’s son (idk his name because i read this two weeks ago) becoming a professional cyclist in the extras was literally so fun

Bai Lang's (MC) past was really pitiful -- he didn't have terrible luck but the people around him didn't care about him and even took advantage of him. In the end, he had been betrayed by his lover and died of a heart attack. Fortunately, fate had other plans and after he died he saw that someone had cared enough about him to mourn for him: it was someone that he didn't like in his past life, Qiu Qian (ML) who sexually assaulted him when he was just starting out as an actor.
Honestly, how their relationship began in both lives was the same and it didn't make me feel good. I hated the fact that the ML acted that way towards the MC but I was glad that it was only once, although because of the MC's refusal to be kept by the ML caused him to encounter all sorts of unsavoury situations in his previous life, whether it was indirectly or not.
However, in this new life, the MC approached the ML and got together with him out of gratitude. When he thought he had no one, the ML had been the only one to remember him and attend his funeral. Luckily, the ML in this life was a good person to the MC and I really liked reading about how their relationship progressed and developed from being something contractual to something so much more. The ML was possessive but he cared a lot for the MC and did whatever he could to protect him from the people trying to hurt him. That was really sweet. It was also apparent how much the MC trusted the ML when he told him the truth about his past life, and it was amazing how the ML believed him without hesitation.
And I liked that the MC wasn't all that powerful and he didn't set his mind on revenge; he just wanted to live a good life this time around with his new family. It was really heartwarming to see that he was loved by so many in this life. I think the amount of drama was just enough and there wasn't any unnecessary plots to create dramas for the sake of creating them. It was a straightforward story that had good pacing.
It was also a good idea for the author to include a kid in this story to lighten things up. It was Qiu XiaoHai that provided a lot of fluffy content in the story and there were a lot of cute moments in the book because of him. It balanced out the darker parts of the book that involved a lot of showbiz politics. QXH also grew up with a best friend, Rong Zan and ended up together with him. It was a satisfactory ending for everyone who was on the MC and ML's side. And everyone who had wronged the MC had met with the endings they rightfully deserved.

The baby bun really stole the stage. His stickiness to the MC just bring up the level of meng to the highest level. I saw that people kind of have a problem with the baby bun for being the son of ML with someone else. But I’m totally good with it. The mother never in the picture. He completely with MC and ML.
Also, the white lotus ‘old friend’ aka the third party. No worry. Even tho at first I’m kind of 🤨 about the ‘old friend’ but because of how firm and clear the ML is, I’m totally assured and can fully enjoyed the story.
In short, this story is about MC who reborn, seek the ML because he is the only one who stay with him on his funeral, living his new life to the fullest and their little bun. Add on some revenge and tears. A wonderful story.
someone pls tell the author that making someone intoxicated and then making a move on them so that they feel they have no way out isn't a valid way of starting a relationship
So I'm stuck on the chinese light novel black hole again. Can't stop reading them. 😅
Usually I don't like reading novels centered on the entertainment industry but after reading i just want to be in a relationship, I'm no longer wary on reading books like this. So this is a reincarnation novel, Bai Lang went 10 years back.
In comparison to other chinese light novels, this one is fairly short. There are bad things and good things of the industry portrayed in this book. Also, this one centered on 2 guys' road to HEA. Let's add a cute kid and straight forward plot and this made my reading enjoyable.
I really love the cutesy and mushy scenes with Qiu XiaoHai. He's the cutest kid with a cute bestfriend too. 😍
I'm still wiping my eyes after the moving, beautiful ending. This book has been such a delight: engrossing, moving, funny, cute, and electric with more nuance, emotional depth and maturity than light/web novels tend to have (it definitely has more of a (new) adult fiction vibe). I'll be re-reading favourite scenes/dialogues later for sure :D
A Surprisingly Brilliant Read – Mature, Heartfelt, and Unputdownable
Wow. I genuinely did not expect to enjoy this as much as I did. Rebirth of a Superstar completely took me by surprise—and I mean that in the best way possible. If you loved Breaking Through the Clouds, you’re going to want to put this on your must-read list. It’s in the same league, if not better in some aspects.
What instantly stood out to me was how the author completely skipped the usual tragic backstory overdose. No melodramatic death scenes, no endless revenge arcs or tear-soaked reincarnation angst. Instead, we get straight into what truly matters: two incredibly mature, emotionally intelligent leads whose chemistry absolutely sizzles without needing any over-the-top drama. It’s refreshing—like a grown-up romance that knows exactly what it wants to say.
Honestly, I think part of why I adored this so much is because I’m probably from the ‘90s club too. I love romance that doesn’t rely on clinging, misunderstandings, or endless miscommunication. There’s zero cringe here—just connection, care, and a bond that feels real and earned.
The writing is so well done. This was my first shoebox novel and I’m honestly stunned at how well the story was crafted. The pacing is perfect. The drama is light but nostalgic—it gives you just enough tension to keep you hooked without exhausting you. And the love? It’s soft, strong, and genuine. No unnecessary sex scenes, no dragging plotlines. Just beautiful storytelling.
And can we talk about the kid in the book? Absolutely hilarious. His reaction to getting whooped had me laughing out loud. That blend of comedy and warmth is something not many novels can pull off, but this one nails it.
This book made me feel—joy, comfort, laughter, butterflies. If you're tired of the usual dramatic tropes and want a story that's mature, funny, emotionally rich, and just so well done, Rebirth of a Superstar is a gem you shouldn't miss.
I enjoy the occasional C-entertainment romance, though this was my first time reading one that was combined with reincarnation.
The MC, Bai Lang, dies from a heart attack in his weak body after getting betrayed and screwed over by his boyfriend Kang Jian. He wakes up again and realizes he's been reincarnated into his body 10 years ago, and uses his additional experience and knowledge to repay his debts and to live his life again without making the same mistakes the young and immature Bai Lang did before. His first action is to repay the boss of his entertainment company, Qiu Qian, for his kindness to him in his previous life by essentially becoming his latest boy toy.
The story is cute enough, I suppose, but I didn't like the initial premise that much (exchanging money for sex) as it felt shallow. Once BL and QQ start developing feelings for each other and they start acting like a real family with Qiu Xiaohai, I enjoyed their relationship dynamics a lot more. However, it didn't feel like a gradual progression of feelings, and I'm honestly not sure when they each started liking the other.
Of course, part of the story is dedicated to how the main characters navigate the muddy waters of the C-ent world, which is pretty standard for novels in this genre and one of the reasons why I enjoy them. I loved seeing how BL got revenge on the people who screwed him over in his previous life and his new one, especially Kang Jian.
It was a bit sad how things ended with his family publicly disvowing all ties with him though. I was hoping in this redo he could smooth things over with his parents and brother, but the author made especially the mom and brother out to be truely terrible human beings. It makes sense, because she wants to emphasize that BL has a new family now that loves and supports him, but I still would've liked to see him reconcile with his actual family.

√ cute kids √ no describing acting scene (it does have a lil but its okay, it's not like other entertainment industry novel) √ no fans comment (got but very little ❤️. they really can be a bit annoying istg) √ ML' AND MC'S RELATIONSHIP OMG! √ no bad drama (enemy get their own justice but not every person who treat u bad is ur enemy, okay? Like, if u read other novel, when someone do bad things to MC, they will not stop until they are ruined but not in this novel!!! ❤️❤️❤️) √√√√√ KANG JIAN ENDING IS THE BEST THOOOO!!!
And and and! MC IS NOT OP, okay? Like not everyone likes him but every character feels very human-like yk?
Author didnt put much detail in her story but i think it's enough. I am content, a lil bit. Too much drama and to much unnecessary detail will makes the story boring, righttttt.
The kids relationship, MENG!!!! what else ah um, oh right, author likes time skip very much i think? Doesnt matter anyway, iloveit so, bye.
Reading others' reviews, sometimes it felt like I'm reading a different story than them.
In the first life, ML offered to be MC's sugar daddy and was rejected. MC then falls in love with a guy who betrayed him. In my opinion, ML had no obligation to do anything for MC at that point because they were not in a relationship, not even a sugar daddy-sugar baby relationship. Heck, they were not even friends. MC just happened to be working for ML and ML took interest in him. That was it.
In their second life, MC was the one who approached ML and offered to be kept by him in return for resources. Now that they had established an agreement, of course, ML would do everything in his power to protect his people.
Love. What is love? Can it pay the bill? Can it put food on the table? So what if ML only liked MC's body in the first place? MC also likes ML for his power and resources. It's a win-win relationship for both of them.
Rating: 4/5- This was great- the revenge was definitely satisfactory but overall the MC got the happy ending he deserved.
I enjoyed that this story was not too over the top. What was also quite novel was how the personality change was evident as a result of a rebirth and not completely looked over as in many rebirth stories.
The entertainment industry backdrop wasn’t too exaggerated and netizen commentary was kept to a minimum reducing getting distracted or bored with the plot. At first I didn’t really like Qiu Qian much as he came across as quite insincere and unlikeable. His history and past relationships with his son’s mother as well as the film emperor are also never really clarified.
By the end I thought he was okay and I guess he is a lot better than the stereotypical MLs we often read about. I absolutely loved Qiu XiaoHao, he was the highlight of the this story for me as well as the warm and loving atmosphere created by the family of 3.
Overall a really short and pleasant read with a satisfying ending.
It's quite nice, I enjoyed reading it. I feel like the relationship could have more development, I feel like I wanted more dialogue between MC and ML. There are some quite emotional aspects to the story but for some reason it failed to make me feel it deeply, it might be the translation idk. Another thing is the "fade to black" scenes, lol. Because their interaction is more physical at the beginning, I found it hard to believe any type of emotional connection. I am ok with fade to black scenes, but I feel like there is not enough detail about how MC felt about it even afterwards. Like it's like it happens and then there's another scene, although this changes a bit towards the end. I loved the children!!!! That's the highlight for me. The camping trip and wanting to have MC taking care of him and no one else, so cute!! I really like their relationship as a family towards the last chapters is very wholesome. So 3.5 for me!!!

To be honest I was not that impressed at the start with all the explanations from past previous life to the rebirth ones. However, just like a sweet tickling bomb, everything turned into 360 degree of satisfying level of face slap. Wahahaha!!
I’m like wanna stand on the stage and yelled at those losers!!!
So I love the world build, I love their little family of three. I love how proactive the Qiu Qian is and how he pays attention to every details. I also love how Bai Lang did not focus on revenge rather than treasuring everything he was not able to experience in the last life. Gods I hope I have that luxury. You know? To be able to start again? To avoid going to pits and especially know where to invest and the advantage to know the future stock market and be rich in a blink of an eye. Oh, I love it!!!
A wonderful, quite realistic story, that caught me off guard with not only how wonderfully written it was but how cute the family of three was. Bai Lang is a kind of person that makes you want to support him. After going through so much hardships in his past life, he developed to be a mature person. Rather than succumbing to the rabbit hole of revenge, he lives his second chance with hope and takes opportunities his way gratefully. Qiu Qian very loyal, and work fast to destroy people who had or will wrong him or his beloved people. To me, this Novel is perfect! Great characters, plot, story flow, satisfying moments, great ending. "My ending was the beginning of everything"

There was just the right amount of revenge and fluff that I needed. ML and MC are a great pair and not the typical ML dominates MC but more like MC indulges ML in being overprotective and possessive.
It's a shame though that there was not much background on Qiu Qian regarding how his feelings started and why it had to be Bai Lang. Out of all the starting celebs, he chose Bai Lang to get serious with. Also, I wanted to know what Qiu Qian was thinking when he held that umbrella in the previous life. I wanted to know a lot that's why it's a shame. But all in all, I loved this novel; it was a great read.
