I have a possessed cat, a haunted car, and a fortune-telling aunt; needless to say, my life is weird. But nothing is weirder than when my exes Joshua, Victor, Amir and Baird save my life. Because I know I killed them.
My name is Harriet "Harri” Raines. Raines like the daughter of the infamous serial killer, Police Chief Harold Raines. He named me after him. He raised me to be like him. And without question, I was.
Until my Aunt Hecuba found me and taught me that the thing inside me wasn't my father's sociopathic blood. It was a demon, possessing me and driving me to kill.
In the years since, I've done my best to repent for what I've done.
I've tried to put killing four men I once loved behind me.
But now they're back... and so is the curse that made my father into a mass murderer.
I have to stop the Dead-Witch Moon before it turns me into a monster. When I do, I might lose the one chance I have at redemption.
Is it weird to fall back in love with your exes when they're all technically zombies? Don't ask me—I left weird behind me in the rearview mirror. We're past that now.
Witchcraft, demons, baby ghosts, whiskey, and four not-so-dead ex-boyfriends bring this new series to life. Harri Raines & The Dead Dudes Walking is over 100,000 words long, and the sequel will be coming soon. Snuggle in and prepare to laugh!

dnf at 40%. This book did not pull me in. I think I was not really in the mood of reading this one. I might read it again in the the future and see if I get through it.
3.5 stars. I misjudged this one. From the blurb it sounded like something new, something fun. Haunted cats and cars sounded entertaining. It was good but it was dark and because of the plot it felt like a rigid countdown. The softest part of the book was the baby goats and they were due to be sacrificed. The four guys were a mix and although one or two were light and forgiving, Amir had enough hatred for all of them. Ends on a cliffhanger. Interesting to see what’s going to happen.

WOW this is one hell of a ride! It’s a well written dark read that is full of horror, suspense, mystery, magic, demons, witches, violence, murder and romance and I could not put it down! Intense, sarcastic, twisted and dramatic, I loved the storyline and I loved the characters!
This is a combined review for books 1-3 of Hexes and Exes.
Have you ever wanted to off your partner? Well then this is the book for you! I’m totally kidding and 100% against harming anyone even if they do deserve it… and boy did Amir deserve it… I have never, and I do mean never, despised a character as much as I do him. And that says A LOT coming from me considering I’m known for loving the asshole of the harem. What it also says is that Lucy Auburn did a fantastic job writing his character. I know right now you’re likely looking at me sideways but hear me out. It takes a lot to make me get as angry as I did anytime Amir was in a scene… dude could’ve been blowing his nose and I’d be thinking of my own ways to off him. To be able to get that kind of emotion/reaction from any of us readers takes an abundance of skill.
Now that we’ve gotten Amir outta the way let’s move on to the rest of this series. (AKA things that don’t make me stabby…) I have to admit that the first few chapters of Harri Raines & The Dead Dudes Walking were a bit slow but as soon as those ex boyfriends rose from the dead there was no putting down these books! There’s just SO much going on that it keeps your attention and makes you want to stay up all night reading.
While Harri and her guys…minus Amir… are amazing Aunt Hecuba is the real star of the show haha! I absolutely LOVE Hecuba and Virginia, the ghost who posses her cat. They are fan-fucking-tasting, there’s honestly no better way to describe them! Although Virginia is definitely a bit of a perv…but that only made me love her more.
If you are the kind of person that has zero tolerance for horror I’d only read this series during the day time. I know I’m a wimp that’s scared of their own shadow but damn some parts of this series had me wanting to hide under the covers. While I feel this should be pretty obvious given Harri killed her exes I’m going to point out that this isn’t the book for you if you hate the mention of blood.
Hexes and Exes was a great addition to my Smutoween/October reading list and I’m so glad I found this series! I can’t wait for Lucy to announce book four’s preorder!
This is a hard review to write. The book is technically good. It is well written. The characters are well done. However the book itself is dark and while I have read other books which dealt with demons and murder for some reason this one was just harder to digest. The lead really doesn’t want to be possessed. She legitimately feels bad about what she has done. Yet it goes on. There is one major error. Her 4 boyfriends who are dead at her hand would have been a huge red flag for the police even if they did have varied methods of death made to look like accidents or other things. That being said the book is good. It is just uncomfortable to read for some reason. I was expecting humor or something to help but really others than the car ghost everyone is serious and or mad and while that does make it more realistic (I mean she did murder the guys so their anger is to be expected) it makes it tougher to digest. And the end leaves one filled with dread almost to the point of not wanting to know what happens. If it was a horror film I would have had my hands over my eyes and been watching through my fingers. I guess I am used to reading lighter (even the ones which say they are “dark”) RH books. This book and the character Harri daughter of Harry both of whom are possessed by a demon is not a happy book. It doesn’t have feel good moments. It is well written but for me at least when it was over I just wanted to back away and perhaps not read more.

I loved this story. The sarcasm was right up my alley, it was almost like the inner monologue I have with myself at times, but we won’t discuss that. I loved the storyline and the problems that keep appearing for the main character were wonderfully written and a bit creative at times. The whole paranormal aspect of the work was there right from the beginning and wonderfully woven into the story. I love all the characters, which there is a rainbow of them. Not going to lie, but the possessed cat was one of my favorites. By the end of the story I found myself eagerly awaiting the next installment.
I give this five out of five stars. The plot was awesome and held my attention, I didn’t want to put the story down. The characters were well written and thought out as to their role in the story, most definitely they are memorable and I know they will be with me for quite a while. I will be mentioning this story to my friends that also enjoy the genre.

Harri Raines was possessed by a demon and was fighting every moment to maintain her sanity and her life. I was caught by the intriguing plot! I couldn't imagine how the author was going to work the character of Harris. So much darkness inside her! An intense and dramatic story, with some descriptions that made my hair stand up, but also with many situations and funny comments that mitigated the terrible thing about the reading and had me chuckling with the absurdity of the situations. I have read several books by this author and like her style and the strong and exciting situations her characters had to deal with and considered the beginning of this new series spectacular. Horror, suspense, amusing scenes, mystery, magic, possesses, demons, undead, serial killer, witches, spells, strong and dark emotions, violence, romance and passion. I can't wait for the next book! Voluntarily reviewed this book that I received free from Booksprout and I enjoyed.
This is a weird one where it was an easy read but not much actually happened. Harri is possessed by the demon Lillth. The demon caused her to kill her last four loves but they come back to life in a curse that triggers the end of the world. The premise is interesting but it's a lot of pages for a plot that can be one sentence long. I think my issue is that most of the interesting stuff happened before the book starts: the murders, and her Dad's a serial killer. I kind of took it as a drawn out, magical version of the TV Show Prodigal Son. This was a good introduction but I'd rather this be condensed to maybe the first part of the book so more can happen when everythings set up. Would I recommend it? I'm not sure, like I said it's a weird one. Will I be carrying on the series? The cliffhanger was quite dramatic but it got to a point by the end that I just stopped caring.
I stumbled upon this book and grabbed bc of the title and knowing the author can weave wicked tales. And I was NOT disappointed. This book is awesome in its horribleness. It is super dark like a literal hellscape ad is sometimes hard to read, especially I found in the beginning and the killing. But I was hooked by the end. Harri and Lilith had their claws in me, never mind the men she murdered. I need more! And hope the ex’s pull their heads out of their dead butts and realize that Harri, despite the feelings that she’s a monster, is not one.
A bloody full on bonkers but a brilliant read. A haunted car and a possessed cat are a continual source of wit, laughs and sarcasm. Except theyre not the only complications in Harri's (FMC) life. Add to that shes possessed by a Demon who is a little bit of a serial killer and her dead Ex's (Baird, Amir, Joshua and Victor) who turn up to give her aggro. This book is jam packed full of plot twists and turns but flaming hell its one hell of a read. I loved it
Good start with an interesting concept. Only negative for me was the constant rehashing of past events and feelings. It sort of took away from the guys having distinct personalities. This is the only reason I took off a star. It's hard to feel the chemistry between the characters if they don't have a ton of book time. I love Hecuba, Jack, and Virginia not to mention Harri's character. I am curious to see what happens next especially after that ending.
Well I don't know, it's good, and weird at the same time, but more good then weird, I bought the second book in the series because the story kept my interest, but that started past the first 40% of the book. So Harri has a weird, bloody live and her not so dead dead exes are giving different vibes. Like I said it keeps the interest going and I'm really looking forward to reading book 2.
Harri Raines & The Dead Dudes Walking by Lucy Auburn is an amazing story to read. This is book number one in this amazing series that I am so hooked on and I can not wait to read more. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about witchcraft, fantasy and paranormal romance.

I had a hard time getting into the story at first. The serial killer vibe and her dad kinda made me cringe, but I persevered and by the end I was engaged. There was a lot of rehashing that I could have lived without. I loved her aunt! If you like dark tales this will be a good one to try. I requested a free advanced reader copy from Booksprout and am under no obligation to leave this review.
I wasn’t sure what to expect out of this book when I first picked it up but the cover really drew me in. The story isn’t like anything I’ve read before and I really enjoyed that part of it. I can’t wait to see what happens with Harri next, especially after that cliffhanger.
The blurb said: In the years since, l've done my best to repent for what I've done. I've tried to put killing four men I once loved behind me. I see no repent nor did I see any remorse. So you killed boyfriend 1, then 2, then 3…girl if you did have any of those feelings you’d stop getting new boyfriends because they all end up dead in your hands bruh.
That cliffhanger!!! I can’t even!! This book has an heroine that isnt your standard girl and oh please give me those guys. Beautifully written an amazing introduction to this universe. I can’t wait to read what comes next
Ok this is the start to an epic series! I devoured it!! I fell in love with Lucy and her Phoenix series (love me some Dani) anyways this story is soooo well written and it sucked me in I devoured it!!!! I can not wait for more!!!!🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
This book was a wild ride from start to finish. That ending was insane. The guys are all different and it makes it easy to figure out who is who. The POV is entirely from the FMC. Witches, demons, undead, gore-this book has a bit of it all.
Nothing really happens. We learn more about what happened with the protagonist boyfriends and the consequences of them being there. Nothing else is resolved and there is a lot of filler stories that mean nothing. This book had the potential of being much better.
Intriguing enough that I'd happily binge, but probably not memorable enough that I'd keep up with each book as it releases. Nice little bit of steam. Hoping for more romance/steam/relationship development in the next book.
While the storyline was entertaining, the novel felt well written, I couldn't finish it. Whether intentional or not, the political undertones kept pulling me from the story.
Totally love the way this series has kicked off. It's got such a great storyline and amazing characters you just want to root for, throughout each twist they are thrown into especially Harri. With her ex's brought back to life can they stop the demon in Harri from coming out to play. Only way to find out is to pick this bad boy up. The book also has some great chemistry behind the characters
