The dragons dominated and disciplined us. They took our freedom and control everything now, forcing us to live as slaves in primitive villages. But they only want one thing: omegas. Each dragon is an alpha, and they need us to breed.
I became a mature omega on my eighteenth birthday. But our alpha never helps with anything. He's a monster, selfish and cruel. Now he's coming to claim me, his property, and take me to his castle.
Warning: Dragon Lord includes scenes of spanking, sexual domination, and intense action.
Magda's books are dark, adventurous, and explicit. In her spare time, she cares for her goldendoodle puppy and bakes with large amounts of cinnamon. She collects tattoos and fancy perfume.
To be honest I got this book for two reasons: the cover is really badass beautiful and it was an Omegaverse from a new author for me.
I liked it. It was a little choppy. There was a weird whiplash switch where Dralyx went from stern, a little scary, Dom dragon to pussy whipped cuddle dragon who wants to give princess everything she wants.
Lily wasn't much different. She went from snarling, F you, I'll never submit fighter; to dick struck (like star struck but from a good dickin) and submissive omega after their first night together. Though they did build on their relationship and grow closer through trials after the insta-love mating night, which made it better than most novella fluff stories that slap the HEA on right after those first dreamy 'I love you's.
There is a lot of talking to you, telling you what's going on and not so much dialogue. So I felt like the book was longer than it was. On the whole, I liked it. It was a decent start maybe to a series and a good story from what seems like a newer author. Hopefully they just get better and better.
First of all it is a good story with interesting ideas and plots.
But it needs a little more work in its implementation, more polishing and shaping, more pausing in the moment. Less stringing together of external, objective descriptions - I saw... it was ... then it happened... more what it felt like, what drives the development from the inside, feeling, emotion and expectation. H/h need a little more background and character building so that one knows and feels how they develop and what drives them. It's there to some extent, but together with the script it's only enough for 3 stars for now.
Ideas and sequence of events are good and have so much potential, they just need to mature a bit more.
I made it to page 74/54% through the book and couldn’t stand it anymore. For one, lily is unlikable and selfish. Her grandmother, the one that’s raised her her entire life, dies in a horrible fire that also destroys everything she owns and then she NEVER even thinks of her again?! Her thoughts are simplistic and so hot/cold it feels like she’s has no idea who she or basic things about her reality. Things she should know since her grandma “knew and was prepared” for her to turn omega. HOW is it that a dragon, who’s thousands of years old, hasn’t seen another omega when Lily’s grandma has?! Which brings me to my next peeve with this book. The writing lacks SO MUCH detail. We don’t get discriminations of characters outside of Lily’s “thick” butt and that he’s “tall with long hair”. Throughout the entire thing I had to supply my own random imagery and descriptions. At one point, right after getting to the castle, it’s assumed the dragon is STILL NAKED but nothing is ever mentioned about him wearing clothes? And Lily get in a bath of “clear water” covered in dirty and fully clothed which isn’t mentioned until the next paragraph...idk how this got higher rates.
Plot: Dragons have taken over the world, and they are looking for omegas. Dralyx is the dragon in charge of Lily's region, and she is now a mature omega - so he takes her.
Commentary: Lots of exposition and some plot holes having to do mostly with lack of active character description. I think that this could have been a good story with the addition of more action scenes and less "in their head" moments.
Novellas are always hard for me to enjoy since I am always left wanting more, either more plot, world building or character development. This book takes place over 2-3 days and the amount of change that occurs in the characters doesn't make sense in that amount of time.
I will say that I was enjoying the book, the feisty h, the interesting storyline with a new twist on a dystopian world, and a new possible alpha-hole to like or dislike. . . That is up until our feisty h suddenly drops all her character's fire simply because she gives into to her omega-self and had smex. Like it smex word away her personality and makes her be the Omega she is meant to be to "her alpha". What is that?!? I read a lot of Omegaverse books and I have never seen a character completely do a 180 in one sentence like that. Really ridiculous. It was almost like the author needed to move the plot along so had decided could blame it on being an Omega.
The book never really clearly explains a couple of things either. How can a human live forever as a mate with a thousands year old dragon who has never seen another omega? How rare are omegas and I don't understand how they can only tell them by their eyes? There was a lot of backstory that I felt would have been nice to know has I have no idea why everyone was after just this one girl. Was there no other female dragons? Needless to say, this story started out go but quickly started to fail has holes remained in story and plot seemed rushed. Really sad, it has potential.
I am very middle ground about this one. The omega is strong with her weak moments which is fine. I think it is more I did not really connect with any of the characters. The humans are slaves to the dragons but by the end they are free to do as they please but with they want the protection and help of the dragon and his omega and they must follow their rules and such which is fine. I did not understand the monsters or how the dragons supposedly controlled them. Overall I was not too terribly impressed but it was not a horrible story either. I would have like to see a little bit more relationship building other than the one spicy night.
The cover on this novel was gorgeous, but the story within did not measure up. The editing was clean, with few typos, but the writing was low quality and choppy. The world building was minimal, the characterization was atrocious, and the development of the romantic relationship was weird, giving me a bit of whiplash. The plot and pacing were choppy. I do not recommend this omegaverse romance. There are much better written ones out there.
This is a strange story with a twist . It tells of a young woman that is own by a dragon to finding love and a mate for the dragon to become the queen of all the lands that the Dragon owns. I would like to say thank you for all your hard work and may fortune smile on you always
Okay, so…..the writing is there and the hints of a story are there.
However, this was rushed times 30! It felt like the author, herself, just wanted it to be over when I would have been happy to have more history, more characterization, etc.
Maybe the author was testing the waters? Maybe she’ll add more one day? We’ll see!
Don't waste your time. It's the typical "everyone wants the Omega so they ALL try to steal her only to lose, then he spanks her and she gives in." No unique qualities to this story. Has typos as well. No, just no.
Good short read! Dragon Omegaverse where alpha dragons conquered the world and each have regions. They search for and claim human omegas. Insta love and steamy, great lunchtime/bus ride fix!
This was a short read. I knew what I was getting into when reading this. An instalove story. The relationship dynamic was a bit odd. But hey, I wasn’t surprised by it.
A lot of things happened so quickly it was a bit difficult to keep up. Again it’s a short book, so that’s how it is usually.
I enjoyed this storyline and characters. What was best for me was how everyone thought he was a bad ruthless dragon but once he met his omega he was a loving dragon. Fantastic book
Damn it was all over the place. For only being 100 pages long. Her grandmother died and she never even cried or spoke of her? The character development was non existent.
This story had nothing but a bunch of confusion and questions. Did i miss the dragon war backstory in another book, because this tale just started as if i was caught up on what the war was all about. who was dralyx? What was his motivation? And lily? A village girl turned queen? No chemistry,no heat, just a flat, confusing story. My opinion only. Feel free to read and form your own. But don't say you weren't warned......
