Moonstone Cove #2

Fate Actually

Rate this book
It’s paranormal women’s fiction for lovers of magic, mayhem, and a solid afternoon nap (when they can squeeze one in.)

Toni Dusi grew up knowing everyone’s business and everyone knowing hers, because in Moonstone Cove, you can’t pass a restaurant, farm, or winery that doesn’t have at least one Dusi involved. Despite that, Toni has managed to carve out a private niche for herself. She has a car shop she loves, a country cottage all to herself, and has carefully avoided any long-term romantic commitments.

Then fate handed Toni a shot of supernatural empathy that threw all that out the window of her prized vintage Ford.

Now she’s feeling the mood swings of everyone from her parts guy to her reluctant crush to her second cousin going through a messy divorce. She’s losing her temper; she’s crying a river; and she’s definitely giving in to temptation.

For a woman who prides herself on always being prepared, Toni has no idea how to handle a supernatural storm of emotion.

Which is not to say empathy doesn’t have its advantages. When the body of a long-time family rival turns up on a back acre of her cousin’s winery, Toni realizes that her inconvenient feelings magic has turned her into one heck of a lie detector. Along with her new friends, Katherine and Megan, she might be the only one who can clear her cousin’s name.

When fate throws a final curveball in Toni’s direction, will she drop everything with disastrous consequences? Or can a forty-one-year-old empath learn enough new tricks to keep the life she’s built without sacrificing her happiness?

Fate Actually by Elizabeth Hunter
2nd book in the Moonstone Cove series. Spinoff of the Glimmer Lake series. Paranormal women’s fiction with mystery and romance. Best read as part of the series.
Toni Dusi owns a local car shop in the small town of Moonstone Cove. She is also an Empath with a bit of a sarcastic edge. The feelings of everyone around her are making Toni a bit crazy but she puts her skills to use when a body is found in the family winery. Her empathy can detect when a person is lying, so Toni uses that, with the help of her friends Katherine and Megan to poke around. The investigation will help keep her mind off the fact that she is pregnant at 41 and still needs to make all kinds of life decisions.

A bit more amusing that the previous books. I really liked Toni and her down to earth attitude. Her empathy causes some major emotional swings and the support of her friends and Henry is precious and heartwarming. The trio of women use their skills to solve the crime and it’s a delightful bumbling success. I love their friendship, support and dedication to family and friends. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

You know the feeling when you read something and love it so much that you have the feeling that if the author had been a great friend, and really knew you, this would be the story that the author would have crafted for you--perfect for your taste. That is what I got here. It is really going to hard waiting for the third book in this trilogy, Fate Interrupted! , to come out, sigh...

Second reading finished. Still loved it-- and am still waiting for the third book...

It is always a pleasure and never a chore to receive an Elizabeth Hunter book because she delivers every single time. I absolutely adore her work. However this shall be an honest review.

So after a professor, a housewife, and a mechanic walk into a gym, they are friends for life. After things died down in Runaway Fate with Katherine and her visions, Antonia ‘Toni’ Dusi is next. Toni is an empath which is hard for her to handle at the best of times.

I absolutely adore Toni, if I wasn’t married I would be Toni. She is strong, loyal, stubborn, and has a wild streak. She is so independent she finds it hard to let people into her life. Her life is about to change big time. Ms. Hunter built in one of my favourite tropes. You’re going to have to read the book to find out what it is. However Toni was one too many times stubborn for my liking. That is why I docked half a star.

Toni’s love interest is slightly younger, Henry Durant and works with her cousin Nico’s winery. They are great together. Henry accepts and loves Toni with all her flaws and he is just so frigging adorable, unfortunately that was also mentioned one too many time. We have a strong heroine who is loved for who she is.

Is Moonstone Cove real and if yes where can I sign up to go and visit? I want to walk along the vineyards, I want to sit on Katherine’s deck and drink wine. But most of all I want to go sleuthing with these ladies. So, it isn’t exactly sleuthing but we do have suspense and these ladies know how to get into trouble or get out of it.

There is a fantastic plot with great characters that captivated me and kept me reading. But there was one or two occasions where I wished that we’d gotten there sooner. Maybe my impatience but that was also why I docked half a star.

I am charmed by this book, by the series and by Moonstone Cove. Grabby hands for the next one in the series. I really hope that it is Nico and Meghan.

I was so happy to read this book a little early and here is my honest review.
Oh how I love when a shiny new Elizabeth Hunter book lands on my kindle! I always know I am about to experience a literary breath of fresh air, and this book did not disappoint me. No spoilers here but this book starts off with a pretty big surprise that I did NOT see coming and it sets the tone for the book. I love that in these cozy paranormal mysteries I can’t always guess exactly what will happen next.

I connected with Toni straight away in book 1, her stand offish persona that gets dealt a hand of deeply empathic power could not be more ironic....or maybe I was wrong...so wrong. Toni doesn’t do things in the traditional way and with a big Italian family that can be a difficult thing, but Toni holds her own and plays by her own rules anyway. I adore this about her. I loved the bits of steam between her and Henri even throughout the tense mystery building around their lives. Henri is no Baxter, but he’s pretty damn close! He is Toni’s safe place, and I can’t wait to see how much more she soars in these next months and years with him by her side. (Note: That is NOT saying she wasn’t a kick arse powerhouse allllll on her own, her back story proves she is and nobody would question that 😉)
In true Hunter fashion I’m left with a little hint leaving me hungry for what’s to come for the Moonstone Cove ladies, and Megan...I see you!! Girl, you are a a caterpillar about to become a butterfly! Her character has embraced the sudden changes they have found thrust upon them and she is actively harnessing her skills. Her story has been laid stone by stone and her character has been on a really awesome journey. Where she is to go next is a story I 100% want to read! She may just outshine both the Glimmer Lake ladies as well as her new Moonstone BFFs.

Review copy was received from Author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I have only read Elizabeth Hunter's offerings in the Paranormal Women's Fiction (no other authors yet).  I like paranormal and the concept of older, more realistic heroines.  Her first trilogy, Glimmer Lake   is set in the same world as the Moonstone Cove trilogy.

The main character is Toni Dusi who is a prickly woman with a relative everywhere in town, who has been running an auto shop for years.  She has also found out she can feel others' emotions and sometimes change them.  To top things off, she is even more fractious as she has new personal issues to handle.   Then her cousin who runs the winery next to her house, is going through a bad divorce and becomes a suspect in a murder case.  She needs all the help her family and new friends can give.

Of course, Katherine and Megan, are all aboard to help. Luckily, the police detective has accepted their unusual ways of helping.  Toni's skills help her detect those not telling the truth.  They work through the messy facts as to who and why the murder happened. While they do, Toni finds her personal strength to make choices for the future.

The investigation of the murder was rather mad-cap. I did worry about them putting themselves in danger. There were a few situations where I thought people should be a bit more careful.   Overall it was a fun adventure.  It was a pleasure to see Toni accept some help and love into her life.

Ah. These books ruin me. I so enjoy the friendships, the families, and all the other relationships. Oh, and the dogs. And, in THIS one, there is WINE. How perfect can one book get?

Again, this book is just so sweet. The mystery is twisty but solveable. The motives are fascinating. I just enjoy spending time with these three ladies.

This book makes me happy. The gals make me smile. Their antics make me giggle. And, their guys make me gush. It isn't long enough. I don't think that is even POSSIBLE. I am just happy in this world. I can't wait to see where the next one goes and it won't come out soon enough.

PS. I saved this one for the New Year because I KNEW I was going to need something uplifting.

Fate!

I wish I could give this more stars.. 5 doesn't seem enough! Elizabeth is by far one of the best Authors. This book was so enjoyable and definitely very hard to put down. Toni is a lovable character and she would definitely hate us saying that! But she is, I love her work ethic, her drive, her devotion to those she loves, her independence, but realisation that it's ok to also need people. She is a great character. Henry is a adorable too. They are a fab match. This story was a real 'who done it' and kept me guessing right til the end. So it keeps you hooked on the book, turning page after page.. Who needs sleep hey!?
I'm looking forward to reading Megan's story. I think we can all work out her love interest maybe too??
Also absolutely loved Elizabeth's afterword, such lovely heart felt words. Thank you and wishing her the same sentiments. 💜

Ms. Hunter again successfully drew me right into the Moonstone Cove gang’s crazy antics. Book 2 in the series is about Toni Dusi, a rough around the edges garage owner with the psychic power of empathy”. Which makes for some great antics. Lover her and her “BIG” Italian family and her hot “ slightly younger” love interest. She’s hesitant to love or show emotion but she’s got no choice with Henry and their little “oops”!
Mystery ensues again and our beloved Moonstone Cove trio of heroines must solve the crime and protect those that Toni holds closest to her heart.

Love a good mystery especially with strong women who can also be soft when they need to. Add in a winery and some psychic powers and it’s an entertaining read!!

2021 bk 16. I had thought of putting this off until the next book in the series came out, but it 10 at night, I didn't see anything else I wanted to start. I picked it up and finished it about 3: 30 a.m. Darn it, Elizabeth Hunter - this book actually held my attention better than any of the other 5 books in these series that you have written. I may have to go back and read it again for nuance, but I enjoyed it, even if I ended up sleeping the morning away.

This book was the perfect cozy little mystery with a dash of romance and plenty of twists to keep things interesting. Toni and Henry were perfect together and I cannot decide who is the more perfect book boyfriend, Henry or Baxter!?! As always Elizabeth provided a wonderful book that I could not put down and now cannot wait for the next one.

Great Story and Totally Engrossing

I didn't even review the first one, so wanting to jump into the second. I was glued to it from opening page onward, carrying my Kindle with me to the dinner table and even the bathtub. Un-put-downable!! a fun new series with each book having a complete ending! No cliffhangers here! I am very happy in the way only a books lover can be with a new series. So I lost a little sleep and skimped on chores...totally worth it!

Love, love, LOVE IT!

I am so glad that Elizabeth Hunter did not stop writing Paranormal Women's Fiction when she finished the Glimmer Lake Series. Glimmer Lake was fun and I hated to say goodbye when I reached the end of the last book. So when the Moonstone Cove Series started I was thrilled. "Runaway Fate" tied in perfectly with Glimmer Lake, introducing three more pyshic women, strangers at first but bound together by shared trauma, and newly discovered abilities. Fate Actually brings us closer to Toni Dusi a working mechanic, running a family owned garage. Ms. Hunter always creates such relatable characters and Toni is no exception. Toni is the woman I always wanted to be. She is no naive twenty something. She is a mature, no nonsense woman who has worked hard to create her business, juggled with work life balance and coped with being unmarried in a large Italian family where woman marry have babies and still find time to run the family business. Toni is the picture of the sarcastic, loud, emotional Italian, who finds herself struggling with being an empath. It's hilarious as you would expect her to have a psychic ability more in line with working with her hands or super strength. Instead her ability has to do with messy emotions she would rather ignore and interferes with her no nonsense practical, independent lifestyle. Once again there is a suspenceful murder mystery to be solved while trying to keep their psychic talents under wraps. There is romance with a slightly younger sex on a stick man, who balances her rolling emotions with calm loving personality. And finally, there is the beauty of Moonstove Cove on the Central Coast that draws you into this world as naturally as a Hawaiian beach vacation.I caught myself wanting to book a flight home to California just so I could find Moonstone Cove. Yes as a native Californian I found it easy to believe that Moonstone could really exist! I love this book! It really was a pleasant escape from worries about the recent rash of family and friends who have turned about positive with this horrible virus just when we were beginning to hope it was going to end. Thank you, Elizabeth Hunter for this welcome end to 2020. Can't wait for Book 3. Please keep writing because I assure you I will keep reading whatever you write!

Series Info/Source: This is the second book in the Moonstone Cove series. I borrowed a copy of this book through Kindle Unlimited to read.

Story (4/5): This story features the same trio of women that was in the last book, but focuses on Toni this time. The story involves a murder of a winery owner who competes with Toni’s family’s winery in the region. As more people start getting hurt, Tony and crew have to unravel the mystery of what is going on before people start blaming her family for the tragedies. I didn’t like it quite as much as the first book in the series but it was still a fun fast-paced read with a good mystery, some neat psychic abilities woven in, and a bit of a love story as well.

Characters (4/5): I enjoyed Toni but she is the hardest character of this trio for me to relate to. I thought her love interest, Henry, was really well done. I also enjoyed Toni’s huge family and all the dynamics there. I continue to enjoy the theme of friendship throughout these books as well.

Setting (4/5): I continue to really enjoy the Moonstone Cove setting. It’s a wonderful small college town. This book features more on the vineyards outside of the town and discusses a “big city” vision to make Moonstone Cove more of a wealthy person’s getaway. There are some great town dynamics here and I am in love with this small town.

Writing Style (4/5): I really enjoy Hunter’s writing style. This was a fun, easy to read book that I had a lot of trouble putting down. I enjoyed the mystery, the setting, and the characters. I continue to really enjoy Hunter’s books and she’s quickly becoming a go-to author for me. I look forward to the next Moonstone Cove book and plan on reading other series from her as well.

My Summary (4/5): Overall I really enjoyed this book, it was a fun and quick read. Everything is very well balanced here; great mystery, psychic powers, endearing characters, and a wonderful location. I would recommend this series to those who enjoy paranormal mysteries with some romance. This does focus on older women (in their 40’s) and there is more focus on families and friendships than in a lot of other paranormal series. I really enjoy the change of pace from your typical UF/paranormal book and definitely plan on reading more of Hutner’s books in the future.

Cozy, paranormal mystery with a country-house vibe

DISCLOSURE: I won an ARC of this book (obviously I entered the giveaway because I really wanted to get my hands on it early)

This is the second book in Elizabeth Hunter’s Moonstone trilogy, and whereas the first one could properly be described as a campus mystery with a paranormal twist. Fate, Actually has more of a vibe of a country house mystery, as the story is centered around the Dusi’s family home and vineyard and a adjecent rivalling wine business. The Dusi vineyard is an old family business that’s slowly coming into its own, while the other vineyard was bought on the cheap by a LA financier. Antonia Dusi has nothing to do with that side of the business, as she has taken over the family garage from her father. But since she is not really a people person, she made an old cottage on her family’s land her home and is in the process of fixing it up, so that she has her peace and quiet. But that peace and quiet is being disturbed by her cousin’s gorgeous new winemaker Henry, who lends a neighborly hand whenever she needs it and seems very interested in Toni despite her advanced age (41) and her abrasive tongue. And things get even more complicated when a body is found on Dusi land…

Soon Toni and her two friends Katherine and Megan are detecting again, especially as the police’s eyes are turned toward the Dusi business, because the body was found on Dusi land. Meanwhile Toni continues to grapple with her new-found psychic powers, since fate saw fit to saddle her with paranormal empathy, so she now gets the whole dose of feelings of whoever she touches, which can be helpful, but also has it’s drawbacks…

Another thoroughly enjoyable cozy mystery by Elizabeth Hunter. I loved everything about it: the friendship and support between the three women, the mystery angle, where the women investigate amidst country club luncheons, the gorgeous California vineyard setting, Toni’s big and close-knit family and of course the sweet romance between stand-offish Toni and laid-back but persistent Henry.

Fate Actually is the second book in the Moonstone Cove series by Elizabeth Hunter. The heroine of the first book is Kathrine and in this one is Toni, but I wouldn't call the books stand-alone. I haven't read Runaway Fate and I felt a little (or a lot) lost. The characters and their powers are already established and I felt like I was missing some things, despite the fact that Toni briefly sums up a few of the important stuff. Once I got into the story though, I had lots of fun and in the end, I liked the book.

Toni is a very interesting character and I found myself relating to her, even when I wanted to throw the book at her head. She is likable most of the time, strong-headed, and has a fire inside her. She is a mechanic and Italian, so you can guess what kind of person she is. She felt different from the other heroines and I liked that. Henry is the yin to her yang, but he is also persistent when it comes to making sure that Toni is his and safe and protective. They completed each other.

The mystery-solving was interesting considering the powers the women have and there were some surprises during their quest to find out who the killer is.

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would (no offense to the author, I had a rough start with the book) and I am definitely planning on reading the rest of the books in the series and will also check some of the author's other works. I would recommend it, but I would also suggest reading Runaway Fate first.

A little background on the series first. This is the 2nd book in the Moonstone Cove series from the "new" genre, Paranormal Women's Fiction. The first book was so much fun! Fate literally threw together 3 women that would probably never cross paths in their day to day routines, AND a twist of fate gave supernatural abilities to each of them. But, it was the perfect storm. The book could have started with "a professor, a housewife and a mechanic walk into a gym".

Moving on to this book.....
Toni is the tomboy of the Dusi family and she loves her indendence and time away from her very large, somewhat overbearing family! Did I mention that she isn't one to show her emotions?! Well, now that she has empathic abilities, she's finding the rollercoaster of emotions to be very trying.

Toni and her new best friends step in to help solve a murder that occurred at her cousin's winery. If that along with the whole town's emotions swirling around her isn't enough, love comes knocking at Toni's door too.

The story is laugh out loud hilarious with some heartfelt moments as well and fully entertaining! The bffs - Ton, Megan and Katerine - are so much fun. (I think Toni is my favorite of the trio.) From wine Wednesdays to solving mysteries, there is never a dull moment!

Not providing any specific details because that would take all the fun out of the story for anyone who reads this before reading the book!

Well, unless Megan's book eclipses this one (and Megan is my favorite character), Toni's Fate Actually is my favorite book in this series so far!

Apparently put the independent-streak Toni with a mellow-kind guy like Henry, adds into it, stirs nicely with murder-investigation alongside Toni's already weird empathy superpower, and it comes out HIGHLY DELIGHTFUL read!!

I found Toni's confusion and denial and not knowing what to do with her feelings over Henry to be AMUSING!! I smiled A LOT reading this book. I loved that Katherine and Megan teased her about it but at the same time soothing Toni's nervous meltdown over the fact that . I loved the friendship. I loved Toni's crazy-loud-intrusive family members - and boy, they were a LOT!

The mystery is okay - though since the victim was horrible person, it sounded like good riddance anyway? I think the women's friendship, the mystery, and the romance is nicely balanced this time around (in the previous book, Katherine is already happily married, so it's more about the friendship and mystery).

The only thing I'm slightly disappointed with is that Toni telling happened off page. I want to read that scene so badly!!

On to Megan and Nico's book!!

Fate Actually is the second book in the new Moonstone Cove series by Elizabeth Hunter. Set in California, Fate Actually follows the life of a trio of friends and their newly minted psychic abilities. Katherine the professor, Toni the mechanic, and Megan the housewife and mother are the stars of this Paranormal Women’s Fiction (PWF) series. These are 40-something women, strong and accomplished, and closer to my age, experience, and lifestyle. Characters I can relate to better than those in their twenties or thirties.

This book focuses more on Toni, although there's no shortage of Katherine and Megan. When the women discover the body of a family rival on the property between Toni's house and her cousin Nico's, The women bring out their psychic abilities to help solve the case. Between the dead man's hatred for Nico, Nico's ex's traitorous actions, and the sheer lack of alibies, plus their personal lives, Toni, Katherine, and Megan have a lot on their plates.

I loved this book. The characters are wonderful, the setting is great, and the mystery kept me on my toes. I am a huge fan of Elizabeth Hunter and devour everything she writes. She has never written anything but the best stories. I’ve been one of her biggest fans since I devoured A Hidden Fire, her first book in the Elemental Mysteries series. All of Elizabeth's novels reach deep within my emotional center and manage to trigger reactionary responses. These types of books are my favorite. The emotions don't have to always include tears; it is just the ability to invoke proper emotional responses to scenarios being played out.

A Forty-Something Epiphany and A Mystery To Boot

Hot dang..... she has done it again, and why does that not surprise me. Elizabeth Hunter has given us another mystery in the PWF genre with the amazing ladies in Moonstone Cove. On top of a writing a mystery, she has also given us a love story, which really is an epiphany for Toni.

This is Toni's story, and involves a dream of a man. Don't we all want a Henry? It also starts with a finger and a tractor at her cousin Nico's winery, which is also where the mystery starts. From that point on, you experience the ins and outs of Toni coming to terms with her changing life, while solving a mystery with her friends, and trying to help Nico's and Henry.

This is a fast past, page turner of a book, that I will reread again. It glides along and bam! you're done before you know it. Its one of those books where you don't want it to end when it did, because you want to see what happens with Toni and Henry when the time comes. I loved how Toni and Henry's interactions were written, but then again, I've always liked how Elizabeth Hunter writes and describes things in her books, so that's no surprise.

Overall, read this book, especially if you've read her other books. As with all her other books, there truly are some amazing noteworthy lines, and some of which are just downright hilarious. I wonder how she comes up with them, and then slap my forehead.... its Elizabeth Hunter, what do you expect.

Romance, Commitment & Love With Raging Hormones & Then A Murder?😱💘🙏💗💥
Rivalry Gone To Far?4.5 Brilliant Stars 🌟

Fate Actually (Moonstone Cove #2)

We're back in Moonstone Cove but this storyline centres more around Empath & Garage owner, Toni. She discovers yet more life altering news a few months after the three of their psychic abilities were triggered. She turns to her two best friends, Megan & Katherine for advice and to offload her concerns!🙏💕

At her cousins Nick's winery, near her home, a new mystery starts to unravel. Sabotaged equipment, a severed finger - what's next, a dead body?😳 As things escalate and the women investigate to try to save Nico's name & reputation, more violence errupts.💥 Who is behind it all?😕

I really liked getting to know Toni better. She's funny, snarky & hates being vulnerable but she's also deeply caring & loving. Her strength is tested with life's newest bombshell, but she's determined to succeed!😍 Henry reminded me of Clarke Kent without his glasses on.🔥 Steadfast, sexy, loyal, loving & all in, Henry wants it all with Toni if only she can get out of her own way!🙏💘 This is a really well written & paced book. I'm loving these characters.🌟

Once again Elizabeth Hunter gives us a fantastic mystery, of which I did not see the end coming. Great characters and relationships that give you all the warm fuzzies, with twists and development that are wonderful to read. All peppered with a fun sense of humour that contributes to keeping the overall feel of the story upbeat.
Toni is the tough, no-nonsense woman we met in Runaway Fate. She has her own house that she is restoring, next door to her families vineyard. When the vineyards most aggressive competitor is found dead by the properties, Toni, along with Megan and Katherine, use their new gifts to endeavour to find the murderer, in order to prove her cousins innocence.
All this, while navigating her new relationship with a gorgeous man who she has so far denied her feelings for.
I loved it, couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting. This story left me with such a warm smile on my face. Looking forward to Megan’s story next.

Loved this book!
A strange thing happened at the gym. Now Toni has become an empath. Feeling your own feelings can be overwhelming but feeling EVERYONE'S feelings can be way too much, especially for Toni. She spends her days as a mechanic. Not a typical "feel good" profession. Her nights are spent with her cat, her family, or....Henry. Life was rolling along until the finger on the tractor. After that, her whole world turned upside down. What about the finger on the tractor, you may ask! Nope, not going to tell you!
I have read all of Ms. Hunter's books. I love some, some I like. I can tell you this one is a home run. In some parts I chuckled right out loud. Not a small feat in a suspenseful novel.
Get a glass of wine, settle into your comfy reading spot, and enjoy this book.
I did get an advance copy of this book. I have given an honest review. I also bought the book as I do with all of Ms. Hunter's releases.

4 Stars... Emotions were never something Toni wanted to manage, that is until a near death experience caused her empathic abilities to surge forward... Add in a little twist of fate, and the ever stoic Toni is now an emotional roller coaster... When a dead body is discovered at her cousin’s winery, it takes Toni and her two best friends, along with their new psychic talents, to solve the mystery and clear her cousin’s name... And in all the madness, love comes a knocking at Toni’s door... Who said midlife was boring?? With laugh out loud hilarity and some heartfelt moments this read is full of entertainment... Toni, Megan, and Katherine are truly engaging and dynamic characters to read... Their interactions are authentic and hilarious as well as relatable and heartwarming... Nothing like finding true friends when life turns topsy turvy and fate deals the cards:)

A little paranormal, a little romance, and a whole lotta friendship. The second book in the Moonstone Cove series by Elizabeth Hunter did not disappoint, not even the teensiest little bit.

Toni doesn’t mince her words and is completely comfortable in her own skin. Nothing can rattle her, except for maybe a certain wine maker ;).

Henry is just the best. I adored him before I met him, when it was obvious he had Toni Dusi flustered. He is a sexy golden retriever…. And oddly enough that works for me!

Love Toni’s big family, the two women who she has bonded with on this psychic adventure, and the winery backdrop.

Just a fantastic series with a fun little mystery, if you overlook the dead body :P. I barreled right into book 3 and just know I’m going to be sad to see this series brought to a close!

FA by E. Hunter is one of my favorite and most sherished reads in this 2020. I read and loved Runaway Fate, the first book in the Moonstone Cove Series. Every book is about another couple and while there are cross-overs, the books could be read as stand-alones. For best reading experience I recommend to read the books in order.
Met and loved the three main characters, Megan, Katherine and Toni. Toni is the most prickliest woman I ever had the pleasure meeting in a book. She's in her early 40ties, is settled, loves her life and her big family; knows what she wants and how to get it.
And what she doesn't seem to want is Henry, her cousin's winemaker. Henry is devoted to her. His love is shining out of his eyes, comes with every word, every action. I wish for a Henry for christmas.
This book has everything I love ina great read. Fantastic writing, twists and turns that kept me in suspense till the last page and makes me want to read the next book now.
FA is another delicious piece of entertainement, delivered just in the right way at the right time.
When you're giddily waiting for the release of the next book, you got it right.
I recommend the book and the series, 6 stars.

I pretty much only read romance but I have thoroughly enjoyed each installment of Elizabeth Hunter’s paranormal women’s fiction series. I wasn’t sure what to make of Toni in Runaway Fate so I was anxious to read Fate Actually for her story. There’s a pretty big surprise early on, that I never expected. Another surprise was Toni’s occasional fling, Henry Durant. Henry is genuinely, 100% good and he’s in love with Toni. My romance loving heart loved every interaction between them. I enjoyed getting to know Toni...she is a private person, hard worker and loyal to her family and friends. She’s had the most difficulty adjusting to her new empathy powers, but it’s completely understandable. But even as she tries to get used to this huge adjustment in her life, she’s willing to use her power to help others. This story has mystery, murder and twists. But, Toni, Katherine and Megan are on the case again to find out what’s going on in Moonstone Cove. As always, the story and writing are superb. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Megan in the next book!
I received an arc to read and review.

Give me more please. I am loving this series for so many reasons. The biggest reason is I can identify with the main characters, especially in this story. I can identify with Toni in so many ways.

Toni is an empath while Katherine is a seer and Megan has the gift of telekinesis. All of their gifts will be put to good use as they help discover who is messing with her cousin's winery. Once they find a dead body they will have to double, triple their efforts.

There were so many thrilling suspenseful moments that kept me flipping page after page to see what happened next. There were times I wasn't sure if they were safe creating wonderful nail biting moments.

Toni has another problem or two. She is sort of in a relationship with Henry yet she doesn't even know how old he is. Denial is her friend since she know he is younger than him, such a cougar. Watching their relationship grow was beautiful. He is the strength she needs. He is the strength we all need. SWOON!!!! Even better he is not afraid of her big Italian family.

I can't wait for book three. I have plans, big big plans when Megan's story is released. I am going to binge all three and then I am going to grab the audiobooks and binge listen. Nirvana.

Best yet?

Honestly I'm nearly in tears because this book is over! Read it! If you've been a fan for years or this is the first book you're reading from EH and her amazing self read it! Toni is an amazing badass woman who is dealing with changes in her life kicking and screaming and I love it! This book celebrates loving who you are and finding those that support you no matter what. Thank you Elizabeth for yet another amazing book and a little escape into heaven in this crazy time.

Fate Actually is the second book of Hunter's Moonstone Cove series and Toni and Henry's story. Toni is a kick-ass mechanic who is independent to a fault. She gets involved in an investigation at her cousin's vineyard and a murder case. She and her psychic pals cause some shenanigans while helping out the detective work the case, and of course, take down the big bad.

We get to know more of Toni's family in this book and they are amazing. Henry works at Nico's winery and we found out that he and Toni have been doing a little more than just fixing her house. Henry is so adorable and I just want to pinch his cheeks. Go get 'em, Cougar!

This series is a spin-off from Hunter's Glimmer Lake series but can be read by itself. It features no-nonsense ladies of a certain age with real families and friends and none of the whiney drama of 20 somethings. These gals are smart, courageous, and fiercely loving and loyal to family and friends. I'm really glad more and more PNR stories are coming out that feature a slightly more mature population. I'm thinking the third book will be about Megan and maybe Nico (hopefully) and we will probably know some more about the twist from this book (not spoiling that one). Super excited for next year!
