Magi Argent #1

Magic Grifter

It was just one more deal. A favour for a friend. But the Magical Black Market is dangerous.
The deal went south quickly, and now things are worse.
My life will never be the same again.

My name’s Atticus Argent, and I really don’t care about the war between the Magi factions.
It’s not my fight. Never has been. I just want to do my thing, live my life, and have some fun.
Just ask Greymalkin, my cat. But don’t scratch her belly, she’ll claw your face off.

It was just one more deal. These dealers meet those buyers, they trade, and I skim a little off the top. Easy money.
At least, that’s how it was supposed to go.
But the dark Magi changed everything, and I barely survived.

Instead, I was dragged before the Magi Council to answer for my “crimes”.
They offered me an impossible choice.

Now I’ve got an infuriating Council-appointed chaperone, and I have to investigate the very people I was dealing with. They will not like that one bit.
But something’s going on—something big, and it’s my job to find out what.

No one ever said life as a Magus was easy, but mine’s becoming downright deadly.

Magic Grifter: An Urban Fantasy Thriller (Magi Argent Book 1), my twenty-fourth read from author Andrew Dobell and the first book in his new Magi Argent series. Another must-read book for fans of Andrew Dobell, I look forward to the next book from this author and in this new series. I was given a Kindle copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. *SPOILER* Everybody's favorite red-head makes a guest appearance. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Magic Grifter

Atticus Argent, a bit of a rogue, but basically a nice guy.... For a Magi. When he gets caught in a black market deal gone bad, all bets are off. He can either reform, or be Sundered.... What kind of choice is that? Atticus soon find a himself involved in a lot of magical mayhem....

Action, adventure, magic and danger! This tale has it ALL!

Fun, crazy magic adventure

Hard to believe this all takes place in a day or so jumping from New York, London, Glasgow and elsewhere. If you like the Dresden file you will probably like this series. The magic is more refined, not so down and dirty, seat of your pants gritty like Dresden Files. The adventure is just as harrowing.

Developing story

Another good series in the Magi universe. Greymalkin (prequel) set the scene well, and this is a gritty detective type series, which I’m enjoying. It’s worth reading Greymalkin first, as it gives a good background to the series.

I like mysteries and I like to try to figure out how things work. Did not work here. Good job leaving me wanting more.

Overall, I'm not really into books with Angels, the Vatican, etc. But that is a relative minor point here. I really like Greymalkin, Atticus and crew. Good book.

Exciting new series

A new male based MC series for the Magi universe where we move away from the black and white areas to the grey and where our everything isn't always as it seems even the cat. Although their is a lot of the same ambience in this series the lines between them create a fresher feel to this series whilst still maintaining the familiar action and wit we have come to expect from Dobell
