A short story that started out as the usual fantasy genre, but then take a turn into a touching story.

A fantasy story about a demon king who reaches out to the human realm to win a war and gets the help of a human magician. They can only communicate by holding hands through a magic mirror. I don’t know what the demon king looks like but he has four arms so very much a monster romance
