Meg Ripley is an author of steamy shifter romances. A Seattle native who’s relocated to New England, she can often be found whipping up her next tale curled up in a local coffee house with a cappuccino and her laptop.
I generally liked it but a couple times it fell into the trope of “I’m a strong woman, I don’t need a man to save me…..ah! I did something stupid and need a man to save me!” Like she is kidnapped by a clearly dangerous man in broad daylight from her bakery. He is trying to blackmail her family into giving him the land and he is clearly dangerous, she suspects the mob. She gets saved by ML and his team. As far as she knows her kidnapper and his goons are alive and not under arrest. What does she do? She wants to go back to the bakery which she was kidnapped from. To be alone. At night. What? Why would she want to immediately upon rescue put herself back into the very situation she was just attacked and kidnapped from? Minus the fact that it will actually be more dangerous because it will be night and so there will be fewer witnesses if something happens?
And when ML says he will stick with her she actually gets mad at him. Like “my phone and car are here I don’t need you” level of audacity. As if they weren’t also there earlier when the bad guy singlehandedly kidnapped her (well, he overpowered her and dragged her into an alley by himself, there was someone else in the alley to open the van and drive it).
Later goons attack her and ML and despite him having military and combat training and being a shifter, she really jumps in front of him like “I won't let you hurt him. You need to go through me first”. She can’t shift. And has even found her attempts to do so painful and tiring. She can’t fight as a human either. It’s just dumb and reckless. And then again there is another attack and despite still not having successfully shifted even once, still not having any fight training or weapons training, she insists she be apart of it like “I can take care of myself”. All evidence up to this point indicates that she CANNOT take care of herself and doesn't know what she is doing.
It’s a small thing overall but I just get so tired of seeing FLs insisting on doing stupid things and acting like it’s sexist that the ML keeps her from getting herself killed. “How dare he keep me from jumping off a building just because he has training/strength/superpowers and I don’t.” “He really had a lot of nerve to suggest that after being bitten and getting sick, that I stick around people who know what to do if something goes wrong and can provide medical help, rather than just going off to sulk by myself.”
I’m just so over it. Especially since 90% of the time that the FL leads insists she can do it, she can’t. Either have her be smart enough to understand her limits or let her succeed when she tries. It doesn’t make her strong to refuse help when she needs it or get pissy and act like ML is sexist for being rationally protective, it makes her come across like a petulant child with poor self-preservation instincts.
This is the first book I have read in this series and I had no problem following along with the story, The story starts with Kent. A rogue wolf who was dishonorable discharged from the military due to his wolf. He meets Gabe by accident. Both Gabe and Kent served together and were friends. Gabe invites Kent to join him working for the Special Ops Team (a shifter police force). It is at that coffee shop that they both meet the other main character Alessia. She is desperately trying to keep her families bakery afloat. Kent's wolf reacts when he meets Alessia but since his wolf is rogue, he writes it off as his wolf just acting up again.
*spoilers ahead*
Alessia is kidnapped by a wolf in a mafia family who wants the bakery. Alessia is unaware that he is a shifter. She doesn't know that shifters exist. Her grandparents as the Special Ops Team for help in getting Alessia back. This is the beginning of where I start to have a hard time with the story. Alessia's grandparents know about shifters and knew about the mafia family that wanted their business. But then they just hand the bakery over to her and leave on retirement without giving her any kind of a heads up? Needless to say, Alessia is rescued. Her and Kent start to become closer. She easily adapts to a world with shifters but then she leaves the safety of the Special Team compound to go back to her place and bakery all alone! She knows that the bad guys are still out there. She has been kidnapped by them already but assumes there should be no further problems! And later in the story, her grandparents are kidnapped and used for leverage against her. She was busy bonding with Kent and all his new coworkers. None of these warriors nor Alessia herself thought that her grandparents might be targeted as well since the problem still existed.
I really like Kents character. And I liked the chemistry between him and Alessia. I just couldn't relate to all the stupid decisions and actions taken. To me, it made Alessia seem like a dumb Dora. It didn't endear me to her character at all.
This book is well written and easy to read.

This book is amazing! The latest chapter in the SOS LA Force story is Kent's story. He served with Gabe but after being unable to control his inner wolf, he finds himself dishonorably discharged from the military and with nowhere to go. Gabe will find him and take him for coffee where he will first meet Alessia. He doesn't understand the way he and his wolf feel when he's near her but he will soon find out. Alessia runs her family's bakery and when she is approached to sell and she refuses, she is kidnapped by the Cipriani family who, unbeknownst to her, are also wolf shifters. The SOS is brought in to save her and Kent is the one that gets to do it. The rescue is succeessful and that night, the two end up in each other's arms. In a moment of weakness, Kent marks her. This will start to turn her and it will send her away. She will find her way back to him and soon decides she wants to be a full wolf. He agrees and the next morning, they will find the whole Cipriani pack on the lawn of the SOS headquarters with Alessia's grandparents in tow. A battle will ensue when Alessia shifts to attack the man who harms her grandfather. SOS will be victorious and Alessia will embrace her new life as a wolf shifter and Kent's mate.

I enjoyed this shifter story, although I didn’t really see the feral part of the main male’s wolf. This is part of a series and I am not entirely sure which number it is but it seems the author has a large number of interconnected series involving shifters. That being said I can see myself reading this again and other works by this author. I did not feel like I needed to read the prior books in the series to know what was going on in this story, there were a few references but nothing that led to me feeling like I was missing a part of the bigger picture; just made me curious to read the other works. Both of the main characters struggled with overcoming and accepting actions that have occured. The main male had to be one of the most humblest characters I’ve seen in a long time. The female struggled but eventually did accept what had occurred.
I give this five out of five stars. The plot was decent and seemed to connect to the previous books in the series but did not hinder the plot of the current story. The characters were likeable and endearing, allowing for an easy connection to them. I would read again and recommend it to others.

Gabe takes him to meet the rest of the force and before he can really get to know her he is sent on a new mission dealing with Alessia’s kidnapping by the mafia Cipriani family and boy did they kidnap the wrong women and pissed off the wrong wolf and willing to die freeing her. Let’s say there will be a war just because they the Cipriani family wanted her bakery boy I laughed, I screamed,I cheered, and possibly flipped through every emotion possible. It was an absolute wild ride from the beginning to the end.

So, you get a human woman that has no clue about shifters or anything in that nature and have her kidnapped by one of the said shifters, then she hooks up with her rescuer five minutes after she gets rescued, and her rescuer happens to be a wolf shifter that bites her during this hook-up scene, and she then learns she may turn into a shifter herself, and you end up with her not even freaking out a tiny bit? She pretty much instantly accepts that the world is definitely not how she once thought, that she may turn into a wolf, and she's just like, "Yeah, cool, alright, I believe you." Oh, yeah, right, I forgot. All she cares about is getting back to her bakery - the very one she just got kidnapped from BECAUSE the shifter guy that took her wants her to give him the building. Seriously? She goes back to the bakery, at night, by herself, just after being kidnapped from it, and this is supposed to make sense? As is the fact that her grandparents - also human; also the previous owners who passed the business down to the mfc - have known about shifters and even knew about the ones who wanted to take said business away from them, but didn't think to warn their granddaughter about these dangerous people?
This is another great read in this fun series about wolf shifters who served in various military units but who come together to form there own unique company when things start going wrong for them
Kent was a meber of Delta until his wolf started to get to feral and he had to go AWOL to get him under control this led to a dishonourable discharge and he has now hot rock bottom homeless on the streets He bumps into Gabe who knows that he needs help and offers him a job with LA's Special Ops Shifters Kent hopes this will give him a future if he can just control his wolf but he knows the only thing that will really help is to find his mate. His wolf locks onto a woman working in the coffee shop that Gabe has taken him to but he isn't so sure When he is called out on his first mission it is to rescue that same woman who has been kidnapped by the Ciprianis, a mafia wolf pack This time he agrees with his wolf she is his and he will do whatever he needs to keep her safe and get her back. Has he finally found the one thing in life he has been searching for You will have to read to see if they get a HEA
Kent’s wolf is going out of control. His erratic behavior has forced him out of the military with a dishonorable discharge for going AWOL as his wolf is uncontrollable. His pack doesn’t want him either as he is a danger to everyone. On the streets and homeless, he runs into an old Delta Force buddy, Gabe, who offers him work with the LA Force of the Special Ops Shifters.
When they go to a bakery for coffee, Kent’s wolf goes crazy again, but this time it is because he has recognized his mate! When Alessia is kidnapped by the Cipriani mafia wolf pack, rescuing his mate becomes his new mission. Will he be able to find and save her? Or will his wolf take over and turn him absolutely feral forever?
This was another good book in this exciting series. The pacing was great, the story line interesting, and the characters impressive. Will there be a successful rescue? Will Alessia accept her mate once she understands the world of the shifter? Grab your copy and enjoy an exciting story!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Kent was on the outs and discouraged when he ran into Gage again. Gage took him out for coffee and then convinced his forced in the Special Ops Shifters - L.A. Force to give Kent a chance. Kent was honest in that his wolf was out of control. Kent was offered a provisional spot and partnered with Gage. They hadn't even finished talking when a call came in about a kidnapping of a woman who Kent's wolf was saying mine. It was a wild ride for the next few days as Alessia is rescued and partially turned by Kent. Alessia after another attack by the Ciprianis, a mafia wolf pack, asks Kent to bite her again so she is fully changed knowing full well that they will be mated. When the Ciprianis attack again in a full out battle, Alessia shifts for the first time and rescues her human grandparents. Kent becomes a full part of the force and Alessia considers that she got the best in being both human and wolf with her mate. It is an action packed story that is really hard to put down once you start it.
Gabe and Emerson are out with their son Lucas one day when they run into Kent, an old Delta Force member. He is sat down and looks as though he needs help. Kent has always struggled to control his wolf and when he is dishonourably discharged due to his rogue wolf, he travels. When Gabe offers to buy him a coffee, he decides to take him up on it. But when they are at the café, he is drawn to the owner. Her coffee may be bad and her pastries inedible, but his wolf is calm, something that hasn’t happened in a long time, if ever. Alessia was passed the café from her grandmother who is a fantastic cook, unfortunately, Alessia didn’t inherit that particular skill. Kent is on probation with the Special Ops Shifter Force and his first mission is to negotiate Alessia’s release. I absolutely loved this book! Poor Kent has waiting years to find his mate, maybe too long as his wolf is wild. Alessia has a crash course on shifters and the fact that they are real!
Kent's wolf is out of control with a dishonorable discharge hes out on his own, until he comes across an old pal Gabe who offers him a job in the special ops shifter force. they go to a cafe where Kent finds his mate, though shes not full wolf and doesnt even know of their existence, but he feels drawn and calm for once n his life around her. Alessias grandmother left her the bakery though she wasnt much of a cook, but when she ends up kidnapped she learns far more about her self that she could even think possible, and she finds herself a mate in Kent. Kents first mission is to get Alessia back, can he keep his wolf in check to rescue her and keep her safe? a well written shifter romance, with action, suspsense, desire, romance and an engaging story line that has you hooked all the way.

The LA Force of the Special Ops Shifters take a chance on another member. It would be preferable to have read the previous books in the series so you know all the players. I've read them all and have loved all the characters. In this one Gabe sees his former Delta Force member homeless and on the street in San Pedro. He takes him for coffee at a bakery where Kent's wolf goes crazy being around Alessia. He is introduced to the rest of the force and right afterwards, they get a new mission. Unfortunately it deals with the Alessia's kidnapping. As the story unfolds, mistakes are made and battles are fought. There is some steam and some revelations. Alessia will show an inner strength and Ken's wolf will find a reason to calm down. Fate acts in mysterious ways. The only person in the Force house not mated is Melody so she will be next. I can't wait.
While sitting under a tree a fellow ex-Delta force soldier recognizes Kent and take him for a coffee. Wolf shifter Kent had always had trouble controlling his wolf and after an episode that left him in the middle of the desert he had been dishonorably discharge from Delta force for going AWOL which meant he was almost unemployable. After getting off a fishing boat he sits under a tree watching the ocean when a a couple with a young child walk by and the man recognizes him. Kent had served with Gabe in Delta force and had been on missions together. Gabe takes him for a coffee and tells him about working for Shifter Force and thinks it might suit him. As they enter the shop a scent sends his wolf haywire and ir seems to come from the human owner Alessia.

Am I going to be one of those wolves who go feral from not finding his mate. Being part of Delta Force helped keep my frustrating wolf in control, but time is consuming us both, I cannot think of a way to pull us back together or away from the deep chasm that keeps pulling us closer to the inevitable. The further away I am from both wolves and human the safer everyone will be. This is often a side of wolves that is seen and felt by those closest to the one going feral, but it never stops them from trying to help their brother. Suddenly finding himself surrounded by other grunts from the forces who wanted to help and in the space of 24hrs he bumped into his one true mate, will this timid human accept him or will the never ending attempts on her life stop them from finding out. A quick read but very entertaining.
Another great addition to the Special Ops Shifters L.A. Force. Kent is down on his luck when Gabe recognizes him on the streets. They were on the Delta Force team together. Kent is a wolf shifter who has been having trouble controlling his wolf. He was dishonorably discharged from the military because he went AWOL. He feels a pull towards Alessia who owns Russo's. Alessia stepped up to run her grandparents bakery when they retired. The bakery is the only human owned business left in the neighborhood. This has shifters, danger, suspense, kidnapping, threats and so much more. This was well written, has a great storyline and characters that kept me entertained.

This is the sixth book in the Shifter Nation:Special Ops Shifters:LA Force series, it can be read as a standalone story but I suggest reading the previous books first to know the team better.
Kent has left the military with a dishonorable discharge as his wolf is rogue and does his own thing. Now, down and out he meets his old buddy, Gabe, who welcomes him with open arms and gets him an intro to the Special Ops team. He knows immediately that Alessia is his mate and when shes kidnapped by the local mafia wolf family, Cipriani, he will do anything to get her back.
Well-written, fast-paced and so much drama and action, my heart broke for Kent and his backstory, I'm so happy he finally got a new family and I wonderful HEA.
This is Kent's story. He received a dishonorable discharge from the military because he has problems controlling his wolf. He would disappear for days and not know what happened and couldn't tell the Delta Force why. Gabe finds him and takes him for coffee at Alessia's family bakery. When Kent sees/smells Alessia, his wolf goes crazy. Gabe takes Kent to the Los Angeles SOS to become the newest member. Alessia is kidnapped because a family is trying to steal the bakery. What happens next is explosive and brings trouble to the SOS house. I absolutely loved reading this story because Kent seemed more human - he makes a lot of mistakes for the hero. Thank you. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of the book.
Kent blames most of his major life issues on his nearly feral wolf and at a very low point he’s recognized by his Delta Force brother, Gabe who convinces Kent to at least accept a cup of coffee. The pair go to the worst bakery ever, now owned by human Alessia Russo and she just happens to intrigue Kent like no other.
A park of mafia like wolves decide the bakery should be theirs. They kidnap Alessia to ensure that happens. The kidnappers are noticed by an eagle shifter that reports it to SoS right away and it’s Kent’s first probationary task. Kent’s hackles rise and his instincts cry ‘MATE’ the instant he enters the kidnapper’s den. Cute read that feels rushed or incomplete. Rating: 4stars
Kent is a loner, and pretty much homeless since he received an DD from the service. He runs into an old buddy from his Delta Force days. The two head to a coffee shop catch up. The first time he sees Alessia, he senses she’s his mate, but she’s human. Gabe invites him to come home with him, have a shower, a meal and meet the others on the SpecialOps Shifter team. He offers him a place on the team as well. His first mission with SOS is to rescue a woman who was kidnapped from her shop and it turns out to be Alessia. Good storyline and wonderful characters.

This book 4 in the Shifter Nation: Special Ops Shifters: L.A. Force Book Series is a steamy standalone with a tough, rugged and irresistibly sexy alpha male. This very well written book has characters who are very well crafted with good histories. This has a great storyline and scenes to read at any time. The Characters in this book are well written with issues which they resolve and the characters evolve in the stories. I cannot wait for other books and I need to catch up the other ones in this series from this Author. A must read

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story about Alessia and Kent. Kent had fallen on bad times since leaving the Delta Force and stumbled onto his old friend Gabe who invited him to join the SOS Force. When Alessia is in danger, Kent races to save her and after he takes her back to her bakery, they have intimate relations and he accidentally turns her into a wolf. Together they fight for their peace of mind and their safety. The mating bond connects them like they can’t be without the other and eventually they find their happily ever after.
I am voluntarily leaving my review for this book and this is my honest and fair opinion.
Feral Soldier Wolf (Shifter Nation: Special Ops Shifters: L.A. Force Book 6) by Meg Ripley. Gabe saw the homeless man and then realised it was a friend from the army wolf shifter Kent. They went for a coffee and Kent felt a reaction to the human woman serving. He wasn’t sure but thought she was his mate. Kent had always had trouble with his wolf but thought his mate would settle it. Alessia was human but felt drawn to Kent. When she was kidnapped by a wolf gang wanting the cafe Kent went in and rescued her. His uncontrolled wolf bit her turning her into a wolf which helped when the wolf gang kidnapped her grandparents.
The story of a wolf' in human form, who has to use strict control of his wolf half. After being discharged from the military, he has a hard time finding work to pay his way. Literally homeless. Then a former comrade in arms recognizes him and takes him to a cafe for food. There he has a battle with his wolf again, a human woman! Not understanding, he almost transforms. His friend and the woman did not pick up on it and that was a relief. The woman was not a good cook or coffee maker. She was trying to keep the family cafe open, not easy to do. This is a good read and I recommend it.
The author has given us characters we can care about. Kent is down on his luck and does not trust his wolf. When an old friend finds him, he is brought into a Special Ops group of shifters. His first mission is to rescue the woman he met at a bakery and was drawn to. The story is full of fear, danger and action that keeps you turning the pages until the very end.

To say that Kent is down on his luck would be an understatement. His wolf is close to being feral and hard to control. When Gabe finds Kent, he offers to buy him a coffee. What Kent gets is a mate. Alessia has no idea shifters are real. She will get a crash course when she's kidnapped. Will Kent be able to save his mate.

Alessia is such a great character, I loved how her baking and coffee making was described. After all that befell her she stayed upbeat. I loved Kent, no matter what he put Alessia first. I couldn’t stop reading this one, I wanted it to keep going, so I could read more about Kent and Alessia. Such great characters.

Another amazing story involving the LA shifter force! The characters of Kent and Alesia are great. The storyline has lots of action and shows how the couple grows through the conflicts that arise. The characters from previous books make a few cameo appearances to keep long time readers up to date. An awesome book .
