Could have bought the English original. Translation is not that good. Also the translator seems to be a Nadar sympathizer. In some places, within same passage he uses avan-ivan to denote a Barber caste person and avar-ivar to denote a Pillai caste person. The irony is, calling some with avan-ivan and others with avar-ivar is condemned in an article included by translator at the end of the book! Also the translator has included some articles at the end to boost up the caste pride of Nadars. Overall, I can't judge the original author's work with this lousy translation.
